The reason is that it is not a fire hazard like gas or electric stoves and according to one article I read can heat food twice as fast as electric. Just curious, what is the typical price on new automatic clicks? ... and say 5 year old clicks? I would think that it would be really cheap to recondition a click with a few miles on it. tires, cables, brakes/rotors, fluids, plugs, shocks, seats etc.
