I've found the food to be middle of the road, no problems though. You will always get a resolution to the problem though, it might be a bit a late but at least you wont pay for a meal if it's wrong in some way.

I would spend more time in a place that bans smoking and have certainly left a few places because they are too smokey.

Top response from Pete. I have always enjoyed my visits to PBG and never had a problem. I have frequented places run by Pete over the years and always found them to be quality. I once sent a stale glass of wine back in Maxx Italian restaurant and thought the female owners wife was going to fight me. I have never been back since. At PBG is something really is wrong you can send it back and be sure it will be put right with no drama. That's worth a lot to me.

Mata Hari is good but pricey. I have always Louis to be a bit take it or leave it. Consider also Mantra or Brunos. Casa Pascal is good but very expensive and I have to say their menu never really does it for me. Have a look in Jomtien Condo, their is Poseidon (owned by Casa Pascal) and a couple of other good places for a bit less money. I used to love the French place on Soi 4 but he has moved now and I'm never too sure where to. Probably my favourite at the minute though is Cafe de Amis and I think this would be a fitting place for a 40th. Where ever you go, I hope you have a super time on this most special of birthdays. p.s. What date is your birthday?

Hi, I brought someone over with me who has peanut allergy and they were fine. She travels with epi pens but never needed to use them. We got a Thai sign saying no peanuts and gave it to people in restaurants. And we usually tried to give it to a manager. Peanut allergy amongst Thais is almost unheard of so they are not tuned in to this. If I can find the Thai translation I will post it for you. On the whole though there is no reason why you can not eat well and stay healthy. You just have to take precautions. We ate some Thai food and a lot of nice quality western food.

The area around Areca is very good. Lots of bars etc. Around RG there is not too much in walking distance. I find the road so busy outside RG now that it is a big pain to cross.

That is a nice touch, thanks. I have been at LK for my last couple of trips. The rooms are great and the girls are impressed by them. I like the gym which is great for a work out before hitting town on a night. Thanks Martin for this :)
