Most North American airlines sell their points to members or others, usually in relatively small amounts. Often its just to let some-one top up their account to get to a desired reward level. This outfit appears to just do it for a variety of airlines. The key question is whether the sale is worth it. I just checked your link for 10 seconds and this outfit appears to be a ripoff. They are selling points at U.S.0.04/mile. Most valuations of airline points would put their value at 2 cents/mile so this outfit is charging twice their value. I wouldn't buy them.

I may be a bit early but I figure WTF I may as well start asking to see if anyone wants to share a car. I will arrive from Europe on TG, arriving at Terminal 1, and heading straight for the Sandy Spring on Soi 13. Anyone arriving around the same time and interested in sharing a car, please send me a PM.

Suite on the 8th floor is 2500 Baht. I think the 2500 Baht suites are real suites i.e. have one huge bathroom with separate tub and shower and a kitchen counter and sink though no kitchen facilities. The 1900 Baht suites are two adjoining rooms with two smaller bathrooms, etc, and on lower floors. If I'm wrong maybe some-one can advise. The value question is a personal decision. I like the extra space and the separate shower so I've enjoyed the 2500 Baht suites twice and I'm booked in for 5 days in June. But I'm back in November for 10-14 nights and that may be too long to pay the pre

Connecting laptop to iinternet at Internet Cafe
jimmac replied to lovenokia's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I asked the guy at the internet cafe upstairs at Big C once if I could do that and he said no problem. You just pay the same price for the line access. I didn't actually try it out but I'm sure he would accomodate you. -
I had the no service experience at Tesco Lotus in Samui in January at 4 o'clock one afternoon. There was no exception being made. They sold cigarettes in the same mini-store within the big complex so it was wide open and tourists like me walked in, picked up wine and took it to the cash where no exceptions were being made. It was the most stupid, annoying experience of my holiday. The other problem was the Tesco was in the middle of nowhere so it was about a 5 km detour for the taxi to go into Chaweng to some place which ignored the rule but also had a crappy wine selection before we we

Another Eastinny & Soi 13 update
jimmac replied to Emil's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
We've been through all this before. I think most of this noise at the SS stuff is just a windup. I hope you all stay away so those of us who like the place can easily get reservations! -

Did you have a decent balcony with a decent view of Pattaya Bay? I've walked past Sunshine Vista and they seem to have a lot of side and back views.

I'm sure if you had it done in the big medical facility like Bumrungrad Hospital in BKK the quality of treatment will be as good or better than back home. The question is do you really want the treatment? I've thought about it a couple of times as I'd like whiter teeth but some people have told me these treatments damage the natural enamel on your teeth and they will get discoloured again only worse and it will be more difficult to get them white again. Maybe those with more medical knowledge than I can share their knowledge on this aspect of teeth whitening.

The Airbus 346 is a widebody. Its an A340-600. Its the longest of the A340 series with the most seats. 2-4-2 in economy. New plane so Thai may not have old, worn out, crappy seats.

Do they use a decent car at that price? It seems so low its almost too good to be true. I'm interested in your experience with this service. I may use him in June and I'm going to Soi 13.

My favourite view. I've stayed on the eighth floor on my last two visits and have it booked for my next. Great hotel, great location. Thanks for the reminder.

sunshine vista serviced apartments
jimmac replied to vanilla73's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I got the impression walking past this place that many of the suites face to the side or away from Pattaya Bay. Is this the case? Is it possible to get a guarantee of a seaview room? Can anyone advise on the various size of suites and their quality and value for money? -
Is the Beach View Hotel closed for renovations?
jimmac replied to jimimac's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I was there in November and it was boarded up and fenced off. Didn't look like there was much work going on. Maybe some-one who's in the neighbourhood now could tell us if there's any work going on. I stayed there once and quite liked it although it was a bit run down. Nice location, had a nice suite overlooking the bay. -
I've travelled to Pattaya alone many times. You have nothing to be apprehensive about. Go and enjoy. On the money question, take cash and a card that will work in an ATM machine. As others have said here, TCs are a waste of time and may cost more. Plus to cash them you have to carry your passport. I leave my passport in the safety deposit box and carry a photocopy of the two pages which include the photo. That way you won't lose your passport and you still have ID. The ATM machines are great but when I was there in November the communication system linking them went down at least tw

They have three classes on the aircraft....business, premium economy and economy. Economy is 8 seats across, standard for an A340, but the premium economy is 7 across which gives much more elbow room and I'm sure is accompanied by a few extra inches of legroom. Do you know what the premium economy fare is?

I'm interested in trying a 1 or 2 night trip there in November when I am in Pattaya for 2 weeks. Can anyone tell me what packages from Pattaya cost and where to buy them? What are the places in Samet like? Is there a good one that's good to take a TG? I'd like a good place but I don't want an expensive place with Westerners getting uppity about an old guy with a young Thai chick. Advice from those who've made the trip with TG would be appreciated.

This kind of outrageous post is completely out of line. I suggest the moderator deal with it and take action!

Is this place across the Soi from the Sandy Spring with the foundations on the lot next to Ma Maison?
-
I'm not trying to twist anything around. I'm asking for exactly the kind of detailed info and advice you just gave in your post. You agree the condotel doesn't affect the Sandy Spring. You warn that construction next to Ma Maison may affect the Sandy Spring. That's good advice and your advice not to prepay is also good...it should apply to any hotel in Pattaya. Paying on a daily basis is also good advice. Talking about the potential for a problem is also good advice....but advising some-one to considering cancelling a Sandy Spring reservation because of the condotel is not. All I'm tryi
-
Maybe you haven't read my posts. I read yours and you said you moved out of the Lek. I said in a previous post that noise from the condotel undoubtedly impacts the Lek and the Dynasty. But noise from the condotel is not a reason to tell people to consider cancelling a reservation at the Sandy Spring. I welcome your posts and your information and your opinions....I've just suggested info on Soi 13 construction is most useful when it is specific.
-
Shadow Dweller, It is important people who don't know Soi 13 know that your picture is of the Condotel whose construction will have absolutely no noise impact on the Sandy Spring. I, too, welcome posts from board members who are there now. But lets be specific about where the construction de jour is located and which hotel it really impacts.
-
You are correct. However, my main point is that there is a substantial building between the condotel under construction and the Sandy Spring. Noise from the condotel construction is minimal to non-existent at the Sandy Spring. It may be a major nuisance at the Dynasty or the Lek but not the Sandy Spring.
-
The Sandy Spring is near the Beach Road end of Soi 13. The biggest construction is at the Condotel which is at the Second Road end of Soi 13. There is a high condo and the Dynasty Hotel between the two. The Haven is right beside the Sandy Spring between it and Beach Road. When I was there that construction was minor. Ma Maison or the construction site adjacent to it is across the Soi from the Sandy Spring. But the Sandy Spring is L shaped and that construction is not visible from many of the rooms. Even those rooms which can see it are oriented away from it, their balconies are orien

You seem to be raising a big concern without giving many details. The noise at the Condotel may affect the Lek and Dynasty but it will have absolutely no noise impact on the Sandy Spring. I stayed there last month and had a balcony above the construction at the Haven...it was fun to watch, it only happens during daylight hours and the noise is no more than few guys hammering in nails, close the door and you don't hear it. I saw a few guys working sporadically behind Ma Maison but there was no noise and the foundations on the site appear to be in so piledriving is unlikely. If I were booked
