  1. That nice spread you got in yesterday's Nation tabloid should help! Good luck!
  2. Pete, thanks for posting. The menu looks great. Nice to see you have expresso. And nice to see you have a wine (and would be nice if you posted it too!). I look forward to checking out the Beer Garden later this month.
  3. I'm looking forward to visiting in less than 3 weeks time. Pete, why don't you post a menu and let us all see the great food you say is on offer. A photo trip report by a couple of BMs who find freelancers at the bar would also help. Look forward to checking it out!
  4. I'm looking forward to checking out the bar in about 3 weeks. Before that I'd like to see some trip reports with photos from the first BMs to pick up freelancers there.
  5. This guy gets to show off his hard-on but I'm puzzled how with all those wet T-shirts I never see nipples in all these Songkran photos.???
  6. It has a great restaurant where I go for lunch often when in Pattaya. My observation is that the majority of its clientele are mongers. You won't have any problems.
  7. Fly Toronto-Hong Kong-Bangkok on AC-TG. It's simple. Go on the AC website and you can book it.
  8. The balcony looked OK but I couldn't see if they've positioned a noisy fucking air conditioner on the balcony? One of the nice things about the Sandy Spring is all the air conditioners are at the back off the open hallways leading to the rooms. That means that in the room you don't hear them and you can sit on your balcony and not have to chose between going deaf or letting your room heat up. Too many Pattaya hotels stick the a/c unit on the balcony. Where is it at this place?
  9. If you get inconvenienced again, tell them what their fellow Star member AC does and make the feel they really inconvenienced you. I wonder if all this will change when the new Beijing terminals open in March. Saw them as we landed and they look as big as Hong Kong and clearly very modern design. I hope the service matches the design. My brief encounter with the old terminal didn't leave a great impression though I've been in worse.
  10. I flew YVR-PEK-BKK today on AC-TG. When I asked at check-in for a boarding pass from Beijing on Thai I was told it was not possible because the Chinese want to control everything in their airports. I was told if I had been connecting through Hong Kong or Narita it would have been no problem but Beijing or Shanghai was always a problem. When we arrived in Beijing there were at least 5 agents waiting for passengers connecting to BKK. A lot of passengers were making the connection. These agents were locals I presume were represnting Thai. They had all our boarding passes printed and in t
  11. I get all but a couple, Jack. Merry Christmas!
  12. What does it cost? What are their prices like?
  13. I agree with Snowbird. Keep some cash in reserve for emergencies and use ATM machines. Why bother carrying all that cash of TCs around? Today's technology makes it a waste of time and a security risk.
  14. There are a lot more people in this world who open computers on airplanes to do real work or to play games or to listen to music or to watch movies than open then to make themselves feel good. As for "Look at me!", I don't give a shit whether people look at me when I have a computer open or whether they don't. For many opening a computer is no different than opening a mobile phone or any number of other devices modern people tend to carry around. If I found it advantageous to use a computer on the beach because it gave more time for TGs when back in my room I would do so.
  15. You need to forget work for weeks at a time, some people can forget it for most of a day at a time. I guess you wouldn't stay home and read a paper because you obviously can't read my original post!
  16. Did it occur to you that perhaps the only way the individual on the computer can get a holiday or get as many holidays is if they do some work while on holiday? If that's way you could get time in Pattaya, would you do it? It's also possible the guy on the computer is just reading his local newspaper from home.
  17. Here's the Air Canada policy: http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/air...ggage/pets.html No pets in the cabin and no pets in baggage. You can book them only as cargo in a special category for live animals. Guide dogs are acceptable but they must be certified and the certificate must be provided to the airline. AC is a fellow Star Alliance member with UA. You might want to cite that in your letter to UA. I'd go ballistic if I was in First or Business and had to put up with literal crap you had to endure. UA owe you compensation.
  18. Try the Grand Business Inn on Soi 11. It's fairly basic but clean and an excellent location. The biggest room is 2500 Baht, many for less than that.
  19. Jack, here's a thread on the topic from a couple of years ago: http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.ph...mp;hl=free+wifi I know the Sportsman on Soi 13 and Shennanigans have free wifi. A couple of searches might turn up more locations.
  20. Thai maps are never to scale so I wonder if anyone knows how long a walk it is from the CitiChic to Suk and/or the Nana station?
  21. It's not a 4 star hotel, it's a 3 star at best. It is not guest friendly. And it is not individual tourist friendly as it focusses on large groups of Asian tourists who monopolise the breakfast buffet and elevators. I stayed there once about 5 years ago and I would not go back.
  22. It was the first in town Pattaya hotel I stayed in also and I have fond memories of it and of numerous guests I invited to enjoy it with me. Alas it closed several years ago, was gutted, renovated and is now re-opened as an upper end hotel aimed, I think, at a well off BKK family clientele. I have since walked by, had a look in and checked the web site. It looks great but its way too expensive for a mongering trip to Pattaya. I'm sorry I can't remember the new name but I'm sure another BM can tell us and you can check out the web site.
