For this post I had to allow HTML and then just pasted in the code, so if a signature allows that then do the same.

A TGs experience of the Airport Link train, funny
Grandpollo replied to Gus's topic in Airline Discussion
Considering a taxi on meter is only $9 including tolls from Sukhumvit one would have to be pretty impoverished or have no luggage at all to bother with it. The BTS transfer to the Airport train is not set up to roll off from one system to the other with luggage, not that you'd want to ride the BTS with luggage anyway, so it's hard to see the point of this alternative. Compare to the HK Airport Express where it flies along at 100 km/h and you can check your bags at the station even in Central HK 90 minutes before your flight and both you and your bags get on the plane. -
I guess while he's being disappointed with his overcharging he can also know "the Market" is an already existing section to sell stuff here.

Rent to own is a great way to give a landlord 300,000 Baht as rent vs. a proper down payment on a sales agreement for something you then finance and own during the time.

CDMA systems use an ID in the phone to identify it on the network and it is becoming increasingly rare even in North America. Certainly overseas you need a GSM phone that is quad band or covers the two GSM frequencies used in Asia (not the same as North America). The easiest way to confirm your phone is GSM is that it has a SIM card in it.

Plus the cost of any of us flying to Budapest first. I get 2 X 32 kg on Cathay Pacific, I cannot imagine what I'd lug around the world weighing 140 pounds. My last trip I had one bag of 19 Kg.

Leaving a condo unoccupied?
Grandpollo replied to Obsession's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Insurance companies do not generally cover properties left vacant unless they are told and usually, paid more. -
Still, on a 1,000,000 Baht condo that's barely $30,000 so not much of a mortgage should be necessary or too hard to carry. All the Baht bus condo ads certainly promote some form of financing, The ads in PP Weekly are pushing various forms of financing with various forms of down payment. Here is a link to an article from Siam Law in Bangkok about the availability of home and condo mortgages in Thailand: http://www.siam-lega...y-financing.php One example given is HSBC 7 years amortization for 70% loan to value. Other examples seem to route the loan through the Singapore operations of Thai banks.

One could go to the Queen Vic, draft beer and cider a plenty. Go out and fondle/shag a Soi 6 girl then retreat to the Queen Vic, repeat as necessary. I like the QV for the lack of girls inside, good A/C and decent music yet outside the door ladies and sort of ladies by the score await.

Webcam Buying drinks on the webcam - new system
Grandpollo replied to MM's topic in -- Frequently Asked Questions --
I found it to be great fun to watch a couple girls drink on the webcam Monday night , but then I found it to be much more fun to take two of them back to my hotel for the night instead. Thanks for loosening them up, though, guys. -
Martinell Sports Bar
Grandpollo replied to Martinell Bar's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Do you fellows also have a boxing ring bar next to Pattaya Beer Garden? I went there for some Thai food and I thought the sign there was the same. -

You should not expect anything negative (comments) unless the experience is negative. It was before 4 p.m. and yes there were a few bored looking inattentive women, one in a little glass booth, not inviting at all, and I passed by . My intent was to come and say hello to the owners and seeing none and since it was so dull (the whole complex, not your place per se), it was none too stimulating to enter and I hadn't. Too early I guess by far which is a result as much of my travels than anything negative about the locale. To quote Maxwell Smart, "missed it by that much" . I always stop with 9's out of 10's on hand. But as I said the main mission was to say hello to either of you. Reading this, I think I can pass on that as well. -

If you are in business class or first class they give you one with the Thailand arrival card. -

Cathay has a camera under the fuselage and I swear I started to recognize the clouds. In all fairness to the airport we were scheduled to be at the gate at 10:35 and we were overhead BKK at 10 and we were at the gate at 10:40. It would have made more sense and saved fuel for Cathay to have left HKG half an hour late instead. -
Martinell Sports Bar
Grandpollo replied to Martinell Bar's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I dropped by today but in the daytime. Easy to find but there were only 4 girls there not like in the photos and the proprietors weren't as I planned to say hello. The complex of many similar bars was more or less empty. -
Bangkok Airport Fast Track Immigration Service
Grandpollo replied to Greg_B's topic in Airline Discussion
Arrived today at 1045. At least 400 people in immigration, appear to be tour groups. My CX fast track card now called Premium Card led me to an empty fast track setup. Five wickets and just me. Plane to immigration to luggage to exit was 20 minutes. Stopped at AIS and met Mr. T guy barely half an hour after they opened the aircraft door. Only one runway open. We circled for 25 minutes. -
Bangkok Airport Fast Track Immigration Service
Grandpollo replied to Greg_B's topic in Airline Discussion
Not so. If you fly in business or first on an airline that has a policy of giving out fast track cards then use the lane. Otherwise you can't. I have heard that many airlines do not give these out. Cathay does. Thai has its own facility for premium class that is not part of the same queues. This is not a special services lane for wheelchairs and diplomats have a separate one within the same entrance. -
Sim card for laptop use in Thailand?
Grandpollo replied to Gus's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
They would have said, "let us show you our nice prepaid plans, sir". I have been all over the planet and one thing is constant - non residents do not get postpaid cell accounts, maybe if you prepaid the bill for 2 years, which makes it prepaid. All in all other than phone subsidies the prices were not bad on prepaid anyway and I do like not giving out a real name etc., for a SIM card. -
Java and javascript are two completely different things and the board is not using java. Enabling javascript in security settings may help. Using anything but Internet Explorer should help and will prevent exposure to exploits since IE is at best a sieve.

Not that I have seen. No pass no entry. Either fly in business or first or arrange prior to arrival for the service. -
Sim card for laptop use in Thailand?
Grandpollo replied to Gus's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Many cell companies won't provide postpaid to itinerant tourists as they often subsidize the cost (free dongle, lower rates, free phones) and for someone there for 2, 3,4 weeks who then makes tracks they can't get the postpaid money. So it may be only reasonable if you do not live there, to expect prepaid, which all in all may not be that bad a deal anyway. -
Martinell Sports Bar
Grandpollo replied to Martinell Bar's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
All well and good now. We know the barfine or as you say, "release fee" . Of the girls in your post with the 7 pictures are they FL or do they work there? There were two very pretty ones, one with braces, and one in a white top. No need to disclose names and such just were they passing thru or are they barfineable ladies? -
Martinell Sports Bar
Grandpollo replied to Martinell Bar's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
This is certainly unique and I think the one rather difficultly written point was suggesting maybe these are not girls to be found at all such that the photos may paint a picture that is better than what a customer might experience in person. The barfine thing - that is what you charge and you should know the amount - not what someone negotiates with a girl after they leave. I am quite surprised that employees of a beer bar would be upset to know they have pictures of them where they work, since that's where they work and it is not a huge secret. -
High Returns On Deposits
Grandpollo replied to davebuczek's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Not BS but taking in 107% per annum (6.26% pm compounded) and paying out 20% p.a. to depositors (uninsured ones as well) makes you look a little chintzy vis-a-vis the spreads in more traditional financing sources. 87% over your cost of funds is good for you guys and well, to quote Borat (he's from around there), for your investors, "not so much". I think a loan shark, which this is to a degree, offers better rates than this to their sources of funds, why are you so stingy?
