The article was written by a lawyer who pointed out that having a Thai company then using the sole asset as your house means you've earned a benefit from the company which of course you didn't pay tax on and they go after that. The article said that there is no need to do this if you want a condo. Since in both cases a condo is being sold your point about legal articles makes no sense at all.
-
I think you buy the company and its only asset is this. Which was mentioned in a legal article not long ago as a risky way to live in a condo in Thailand if the tax authorities find out.

They have very high ceilings, which they call Maxx Headroom.

Retirement Visa from USA.... need input from those who have them.
Grandpollo replied to frostfire's topic in Expat Issues
Right hence my saying cash or annual income, the THB 800,000 is the same either way. The point is even in Thailand $25 grand is not a hell of a lot to live on and if it is in the bank you have to keep proving it so that is not enough on its own. Since you'd not be able to spend it. -
Any bus service after 6pm from BKK airport to Pattaya?

It is far easier to use a 90 day non retirement O obtained in your home country (though appparently a 60 day tourist visa can be spun into the right end) and do it in Thailand. No police check from where you live that needs translation and notary etc., and the medical is the "send the TGF to the doctor for it for 200 Bht". Vs. a real doctor and translation and authentication. All you then need is 800K Bht in the bank which you can wire to Kasikorn (who don't call for an O visa to open an account by the way, and who also handle SWIFT transfers well) and then go to a lawyer (which I would do) or try it on your own if that is too dear. If you don't have the scratch but you have the income then get a bank letter or pension letter in which case it will have to be authenticated. I think for Americans the embassy will do it without much in the way of proof. From Siam Legal (in Pattaya): FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT: BANK ACCOUNT SHOWING THB 800,000 MONTHLY INCOME OF AT LEAST THB 65,000 COMBINATION (BANK ACCOUNT + INCOME x 12 = THB 800,000) Anyone who pays a criminal bribe of 30,000 Bht to do this will get caught and deported, maybe not everyone but enough. You don't want it to be you. If someone cannot come up with not even $25,500 of cash or annual income probably needs to rethink retiring anywhere but the poorhouse. -

Texans and cowboys maybe. -
I've gone out on tour for 3/4 of a day (nong Nooch and the like) and also to Bangkok a couple of times and the ex-TG went off to GKW Nakron Phanom (?) or something outside of BKK after the airport, and as long as you can negotiate a price you find agreeable, I get the impression anything is possible. One thing make sure the driver has heard of where you are going and get one with a usable language. It can be hit or miss at times.

23 posts later I am on the edge of my seat here with popcorn and a beer. What happened? What got bought? How much was it? Tell us for God's sake, man, don't add to the suspense.

You can get a good enough HP or Toshiba laptop in Canada for under $400 brand new. Not good for gaming but undoubtedly better than some clapped out piece of crap you'd rent in Pattaya unless this rental is for 2 or 3 days of the 35, in which case a good cyber cafe would likely work and be a better deal as well. I would not even bother with Craiglist in the US or Canada for a used laptop with the price of new nowadays.

It ain't that hard. People quote a post that is already 3/4 of a page and say: Thanks great report. Why quote at all in that case? We know the subject of the post, thanks great post is not hard to understand in the context. -

People quoting 100% of a post to talk about 1/50th of it is a far bigger space waster than avatars, sigs, etc. -
The gold card excludes happy hour and excludes bar fines and excludes free VIP access or excludes happy hour drinks but offers 20% off of bar fines and free access? In which case you'll be clearer thus: Gold card costs 1000 per year and offers 20 percent off all drinks, off bar fines, and offers free access to the VIP room but excludes Happy Hour drinks (and bar fines are how much?) The free (FOC I think is free of charge) number of drinks is 1? 5? 10? Deducted from the 5000 or poured in the gob of someone on the floor after a 5000 Baht bar bill?

If you click on the image it does open up for you though. Bad news is is still the size of an ant's pecker when you do. I am going to have a friend that writes on grains of rice to read this to me.

That is one hig Most rooms are smaller than the 19 foot advertised, size but if it fits it would be great for movies or even a drive-in theatre.

Go to BKK for 1000 baht stay at the President Palace on Suk Soi 11 , club room w/ huge bed, free private lounge where you check in and get free breakfast, 530 - 830 free cocktails and snacks, mostly free in room bar, pool and of course Bangkok. Book via Asiarooms or compare the PP website and take the lowest price. Even a couple pieces free laundry daily, the Bangkok Post and so on. I last paid about 3,400 per night and add 2000 for the round trip and you have a great city, hotel, and spend the cost of one Hilton night. It is swankier than 99% of TG's have ever seen. 7K for Pattaya is a huge amount.

There is a post here somewhere from a shipping service claiming to charge less than DHL or FedEx directly. I have yet to see any of these storefront services do anything more than charge double but you can ask.

$21 and a $25 stamping fee on arrival using an online service which is quite simple: http://www.vietnam-visa.com/pricing.html Might be worth the fast track on arrival as well as I can imagine Hanoi or HCM City / Saigon airports.

Why do they need a fuel stop 2 hours after they take off? The flight is 6800 miles and there are routes from North America to Asia that are longer by over 1000 miles. I see, it is not a fuel stop. They sell this route ex-Munich to Singapore as a non-stop. SG has a great reputation for service, especially in Business or First. Here are reviews on Skytrax

If Thai has a ticket office at the Dusit why not just go there and book and pay and verify all at once?

I'd look for a home centre or lumberyard vs. say a massage parlor or cafeteria. Try that. Note also "Stud Wall" would be a pretty good porno actor's name.
