Have you ever been stopped by Customs coming INTO Thailand ?
Grandpollo replied to chatkeow's topic in Idle Chit Chat
There is no way it is one in ten. The last 2 times there must have been 100 people a minute leaving through nothing to declare as there were maybe 5 flights at once, and they weren't stopping 10 a minute. I saw two bored looking guys in suits near a x-ray machine and I didn't see anyone get stopped nor anyone at the x-ray machine. Hong Kong is similar. How they would grab people after they arrive where all the meet and greet goes on is beyond me. There are sometimes 500 people out there. Still smuggling is for dopes. Good way to get deported, fined, jailed or excluded. -
Pattaya Shipping
Grandpollo replied to pattaya shipping's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Are you less than going to the FedEx office (the one run by FedEx)? I have yet to find an agent for FedEx, UPS or DHL that is cheaper than going there and just sending it yourself. -
I am lucky to be away from home right now where there is a sportsbook. I only managed to bet DEN PIT as I wanted to bet NO as well. I thought they were all Sunday games . Nope. Bet DEN +7 and DEN +275 and made a nice 183% same day profit.

Heaven Body Massage And Lawn Bowls In Pattaya
Grandpollo replied to Dungheap's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I thought this was an incredibly diverse company and was a massage parlor and lawn bowling facility combined but upon rereading I believe these are two businesses. -
Are they fakes? $100 is pretty cheap indeed, the bag must be close to that. Even minus a 7 iron, I'd buy them if I was there and I'd take them home.

Beautiful studio condo for rent in Jomtien 6500 per month
Grandpollo replied to ericg1953's topic in The Market
I am going to guess THB78,000 in total. I am curious to see if he has to discount an apartment from $7 a day. -
Post#28 the one in the middle with braces (probably fake) and the one to her right, e.g the left of the photo. Post 26 of the seven the middle one though her eyes look googly but that may be due to direct on flash. The ladyboys look quite hideous to me. Manly and kind of ugly dudes so that makes for really ugly "girls".

Uk-Bangkok....the Most And Least You've Ever Paid.......
Grandpollo replied to chatkeow's topic in Airline Discussion
I have never flown economy since after about 1999, but coach must vary from around $900 to $2,000 in dollars round trip and business depends but from $5,700 to $9,000. The lower have more restrictions admittedly they are not much, ususally a cancel fee of $200 and of course Cathay will limit the seats at the non full-fare prices. They are also adding premium economy in 2012, no idea that cost as I wouldn't fly in that class either. First class is actually around $14,000 but the fare I fly is refundable but a lower price with a $200 cancel fee. A small price to pay if I cancel to save $4,000 on the fare. -
Here is another: International Bank of Azerbaijan in Baku

Wouldn't "girl" vs. "Party" be more appropriate in quotation marks? She seems to be a ladyboy, as is, I am guessing, the third masseuse from the left in the first photo. Yes , yes, third gender and all that but assuming there is such a thing then the word girl isn't right in any case. Ladyboys are fine, and more power to people who float that particular boat, but is it fair to refer to them amongst genetic girls? I am curious, doesn't calling it "traditional massage" risk losing punters (like those here who wanted to know about happy endings right off the bat) as I would have thought it refers more to the non-happy ending type of place. When I read the opening post I thought it was the latter type. I hope it does well. Massage places seem to attract a lot of interest here and it will be interesting to read reports from the field, like Rose massage has been doing.

The line of thinking, and the economics are far from certain on this, is that if an airline can sell lots of full fare F and J seats they can earn enough to subsidize the cost of coach/economy. Of course the reality is far more complex than this, firstly (and probably primarily) it is competition on the same routes, and then profit maximization. Believe me, if Emirates or Cathay or Thai can raise prices and compete on routes then you'd be paying triple for an economy seat. They are not charities so their aim is not to make the same amount per flight by dinging F travellers (eg. me) so Y, Q, R, T, X, etc, pay fifty dollars.

I gave him a +1 today. I don't think his reputation score is merited vs. some decent contributions made. Every little bit helps.

Uk-Bangkok....the Most And Least You've Ever Paid.......
Grandpollo replied to chatkeow's topic in Airline Discussion
I paid CAD $10,300 in April and CAD $10,600 (roughly £6,500) in September due to the CAD losing a bit against the US (which is the base currency most airlines use) . Not from the UK but Toronto. Them's the breaks for refundable first class tickets but it is sure a nice way to travel. -
Read up on Interest Rate Parity, the financial term arbitrage, and how interest rates are related in part forward exchange rates. If you can , safety aside, place funds in a foreign bank at 6% while your local bank pays, say 2%, that sounds like free money right? However, the expectation is the higher rate, e.g. 6% currency will devalue by 4% over the period of time which is why it is 6% to begin with. If this was not true then banks would place billions of $ in banks paying 6% on short term funds that they are only paying 1/2 - 2% on. Earning risk-free 4% for doing nothing. Example: You invest one US$, at a 1 year interest rate in AUS dollars at their rate of 6%. This is compared to, say, 2% in US for a year. For ease of the calculations, the current spot US/AUS rate is $1:$1. The result of each deposit is this: in a year you have 1.06 AUS dollars ($1 X 1.06 representing the interest) and on the US deposit only US$1.02 , but the spot rate a year later is now lower: $0.963 US = $1 AUD. The AUD has declined (depreciated) by the difference (1.02 US in one year vs. 1.06 AUD in one year). If the reason is concern over the solvency of Thai banks then keep funds in a location with deposit insurance on local funds deposits. Withholding tax for non-residents should be less of a concern than safety of your funds.

Fair enough but I'd consult a lawyer as to the law then if required have them accompany me to immigration. Translation as well would help. I agree that I wouldn't use a "consultant"

Use any $5 AC USB power adapter and problem solved. I use the DLink portable travel router and it works in 3 modes, including a bridge and a wireless extender, plus an ethernet to wifi router of course.

Looking for good FEDEX or DHL location
Grandpollo replied to short's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Every Mailboxes Etc. office I've ever seen sell UPS and FedEx for ridiculously more than UPS and FedEx sell their own services so a trip to the real McCoy seems a better move. There was a courier thread here not that long ago and of course one could go to the FedEx website and just look up their Pattaya or Chonburi address. Don't be surprised when you see the rates are about 10X what you expect them to be. -
I have heard groups of lawyers get together , open an office they call a "law office " and offer advice specializing in things like immigration and visas and even divorce. They might be a source of "legal advice" vs. visa mill shysters and brain dead school administrators. One "law office" even has a weekly column in Pattaya People weekly and seem very competent and are Thais not expats hustling a quick buck. Just an idea. They might be able to arrange a student visa as an example. I'd talk to a Thai lawyer before running to Jomtien to present an illegally in country eight year old nearly three months overdue to leave to an immigration officer. Since all they can do is a 7 day extension on a visa exempt and only once at that.
-
Yes, most people who have less than 6 months trying to enter countries that insist on 6 months have been turned away because they don't meet the legal requirements. Which you saw when they declined the visa online.

Find the cheapest one-way ticket to Cambodia or Malaysia or Singapore, or buy an open return ticket to England. You don't need a retrun ticket to where you started, you need a ticket to leave Thailand to somewhere else.

I think this thread is great and, IIRC, there has been at least one more or less just like it, in that is has not managed to clarify nor deliver something so simple as a card for forum members and how that card works. I haven't seen this saloon but just based on this 66 posts and counting dialogue I will go next trip if only to (try) to get a card and to see if I can get a two for one G and T. Great fun watching TIT in action. Please stay in business for a few more months.

Pattaya Vocational Beauty Schools
Grandpollo replied to SpicyMartin's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
You suggested being a farang ripped off and I interpreted pastiness as an adjective for being white, e.g. a farang which was your very concern. So he was saying it's high but it's Thais ripping off Thais not you per se.
