  1. It's not cheap low season 1750 2550 and 10000 nightly. The latter being a penthouse. Their mobile web site is odd.
  2. 27 hours to boarding

  3. It is just Google translate with a different front end , handy list of pairings. I have used Google for writing to a TG and use a few rules to avoid oddball results: One sentence per line and one subject per sentence. Short sentences without compound concepts, e.g. The weather here is nice today. I went to the movies today. Rather than even though the weather was nice today I chose to go to the movies. No English slang as the literal translation often isn't close to what you meant. No romancized Thai words like Tilac since you can just write darling, sweetheart etc. Try to avoid words with dual meanings like "honey" vs. "darling" as you can bet you'll get honey the condiment not the compliment. No contractions No th nd rd for ordinal numbers , e.g July 3 not the 3rd of July I send the English and then below copy and paste the Thai. I'll run the Thai version back to see what comes out in English. If it's quite close great. If not itnis fairly obvious where the problem lies. Then I simplify more.
  4. I have a few of these showing up in my junk e-mail box (the e-mail service uses SPAM filters, mostly quite effective). I find it handy to see quotes without the need to go into the site as I use an iPad and 3G at the office which is no speed demon.
  5. I just fly in and pay for Cathy first class and earn AA miles for a later day. I can't imagine flying half one class and half the other.
  6. Still waiting for an answer to one original question how much laundry is and how fast it comes back.
  7. Do you have to post a fresh post daily? If someone wants it they want it.
  8. It's the restaurant Shyface's girl owns 'cause that's her.
  9. From prices tend to mean this One room #13 which is under the stairs and has no windows is 200 sq.feet has a shared bath no air and no TV. It's 500 Baht. The other 29 rooms are all 1,000 Baht. Good web sites have prices for all rooms clearly laid out, features and seasonal differences and the comment before yours is an appropriate observation. Hard to make a lot on $16 rooms.
  10. So 150 for 500 , 250 for 1000 and say 330 for 1500 for the phone. People were quibbling about $2.50 for the service ( that you don't need with AIS direct) so $5, $8 and $11 ought to cause fits. If someone wants 100 Baht you'll do that for a dollar? Lot of work for 30 Bht. Glad you noticed the site was deader than a doornail.
  11. Mr. T will supply a car and driver for THB250 an hour to go wherever you desire. I hired one for 4 hours for Nong Nooch and the Big Buddha, etc. I presume you can negotiate waiting time less than that. How far in hours is Ban Chang? One each way? Of course given his 20 hour response time you might want to call (that's always fun) or easier drop into the "office" on Soi Diana. There is a girl there that has pretty good English. For some reason when you call it ain't her that answers the phone.
  12. I had thought of asking the moto guys at Family Mart across the street about a drive, and also going to Kinnaree since I am not walking there trying to find it, though I'm not sure not sure of their English and their desire to go at 1000 kpm is something I am not a huge fan of.
  13. The cognac on the left is Hennessy Louis XIII and costs CAD$2,800 a 750 ml bottle here. That's THB84,560 and THB112 per ml, so a one ounce shot (Imperial oz.) would be worth THB3,200 or so. They have another cognac, also sold here, in a less fancy bottle called Richard Hennessy for CAD$4,500 and there is one called Timeless for CAD$15,000. Not sold here though. Shit, there goes Christmas.
  14. Thanks for the info. So if I get on a BB uphill from RG and stay on it, the bus turns (right I presume) past Thepprasit, staying as Thappraya Road, to Jomtien Beach and at the end of that route does it double back? E.g. If I am in Jomtien how do I get back to Thappraya and the RG? Just cross the street from where I got off? What I am asking is do I have to retrace my route on a new BB or does one go in a circle? I am "walking the route" on Pattaya Photoguide and I see generally where things are. I have a few days on my own as I arrive the 28th and the ying was told September 1. That said it seems safer to poke around Jomtien vs. go anywhere near, say LK Metro or Bukhao etc. I think I can sneak down to FLB when it's dark. Stupid question (to some) but in a Thai bank does one queue up for a teller and present a traveller's cheque and the passport or is there some booth/counter etc., for changing foreign currency? Will they have any English or is it a silent transaction being fairly obvious I want Baht. I used only ATM's last time but I can save a few bob on one $500 traveller's cheque at a time.
  15. Isn't Queens B'day also (treated as) Mother's Day? That could affect network capacity if so.
  16. I enjoy the RG, nice mix of price, service, facilities etc., and other than a romp at Jade House I haven't ventured (east?) towards Thepprasit (e.g. towards the many posted Rose Apple massage). Since the baht buses keep on busing past the RG is there anything farther down the road? The Pattaya Photoguide shows a lot of various enterprises etc., and some possibly bar complex at the intersection? Anyone know if there is a good money changer or bank for changing traveller's cheques in that direction? A larger grocery (larger than Family Mart that is), massage or beer bars, the usual that would be on Thappraya and not too far to the left or right? Say as far as the intersection with Thepprasit or a bit farther? E.g. Kinnaree, I think I'd take a motor taxi vs. walk inland from the baht bus, but others may be closer. If I wanted to go to Jomtien beach can I stay on a past-RG baht bus and expect that's where it goes?
  17. He got back to me with the confirmation and the driver's number. The replies come at all hours of the day Pattaya time as well sometimes 4 am sometimes 10 pm. Still 1000 Baht and same to and from Bangkok downtown as I always go for a couple days to see the sights and stay in my swanky hotel there.
  18. I wish Mr. T was a bit more responsive with the email though even taking the time difference into account. I just emailed him with all details and my emails add a signature to the end each time. Wait 20 hours the reply what's your name? I reply it's in the email each time I write to you. Now to wait 20 more hours....still haven't got him to say yes, I'll be there just reply with your name. I do these nearly a month in advance just to allow for hang time each punt.
  19. Pretty spartan looking but if the rate is 500 and in LK you probably will find a few people as there isn't much for $16 a day is there?
  20. Happy - use Firefox and avoid IE8 like the plague it is. If you insist on IE8 go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Here's the Q&A for flash issues: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html Seriously IE is such a piece of shit just use Firefox and install the flash player.
  21. There are entire websites of people in the backgrounds of people's photos that don't belong, some pretty funny. This could go in one.
  22. When I stayed in Bangkok in May the hotel, a classy one, didn't have a Thai menu (I mean a menu, written in Thai - they did have some Thai food) and the Thai waitress was surprised when I asked for a spoon for the TG with me in the restaurant, so it isn't just the tourists that must wonder about this. For the former I told the waitress to grab a chair and read every single menu item until there was something the TG liked. Yet across the street the Australian Bar had Thai menus and food, Thai waitresses (pretty hot, too BTW) and a fork and spoon showed up as a norm. So you never know.
  23. Seoul, Inchon , south LA, Christie and Bloor in Toronto. Pyongyang except they only serve boiled rocks and twigs.
  24. Moneygram costs $15 or whatever PLUS their horrible exchange rate which is never as good as even buying from your local airport. They tell you on the form but that is really how they and Western Union make money since most of the fee goes to the merchant doing the send and the payouts. Watch out for how much you are actually getting. Also if you've never sent by credit card before they often require you to call them to clear it and the call has to come from your phone that is registered to the card. If you need emergency money and you have it to send anyway take traveller's cheques. You might find Moneygram works great when you are at home and falls apart when you are away. AMEX will replace traveller's cheques the same day. If you insist on Moneygram then have a friend or relative send you money from one the thousands of merchants in your town.
  25. Honest, the FAQ is empty, there are no prices on the about us page, and the link for phone topups takes you a page with three choices/symbols, none of which do anything. Simple question you can answer here, how much for a phone credit? And for a bank credit? If you mean this, it describes what you do and not what it costs. How are our orders processed? You pay into our Paypal account providing the details for either the Bank Account to pay or the phone number to credit and as long as your Paypal account is Verified we will use our online service to action your request as soon as possible. Your payment will be processed via Paypals secure payment system. And as long as your Paypal account is Verified we will action your request within 12 hours. And for bank payments it says this: How we charge for our services Our reasonable fee is automatically calculated and the total is shown before you confirm to Paypal. The more you buy the less we charge for our services. Your payment will be processed via Paypals secure payment system. And as long as your Paypal account is Verified we will action your request within 12 hours (see the about us page if your Paypal account is not Verified). My experience is when someone won't tell you how much it costs they don't want you to know and you probably want to sit down. The discussion started with among other things, is $2.67 too much for THB200 to a phone? So are you more or less than $2.67? Keeping in mind that AIS is free and as someone with a local bank account so is Kasikorn via internet.
