Ban Chang Bar Crawl
Grandpollo replied to THE DRUNKEN DUCK's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Is this still on or not full? I would do about anything to get out of the last day of Songkran. -
Yes, but besides that worth sending at least a carrier pigeon to his last known neighbourhood.

Emirates, Qantas, Air France have the 380, well Air France has one less today after running over a little jet at JFK yesterday. Just go to Wikipedia and look up the 380 and there will be a list of who has them. Frankly for coach it is smarter to look for who has the best legroom as steerage on a 380 just means more idiots packed like sardines. Excluding you, I meant the scores of ignorant rubes you'll share your wee space with.

The worst part of this is that the regular price is THB 12,999. -
Lifetime membership of 7 gyms
Grandpollo replied to Ergodyne's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Not just Thailand. Here they a scummy and shady and make aluminum siding salesmen look virtuous. $500 for lifetime , if that is materially lower than the norm is often a last gasp cash grab prior to folding up the tents and fucking off, and the deal isn't fraud because they mean their lifetime. Which will be a week. -

I was too lazy to reread the original post, sorry, mea culpa mea maxima culpa.

One drawback to NoScript is nearly everything stops working at first. When you get a web page with nothing happening, right click and select NoScript and generally just allow the name of the site itself is usually all you have to do. Don't be surprised when you see 10 other scripts running along with the site you are actually surfing. It remembers your choices. You always see google. Always. Another good one for the pop-ups etc., also free is AdBlock Plus. It knocks out all the spying going on and a lot of ads. You can block all those javascript and flash ads that slow things down while st

Hard to beat these bargains with viruses and measures against piracy at every turn. Since MS sells the home and school edition of Office for about $90 for three licenses it hardly seems worth it. And if customs finds it on your return they'll seize it.

You can install NoScript, a free Mozilla/Firefox add-in and then it will filter out, e.g. not load scripts of your choosing. Especially google analytics.

I obviously don't know Pattaya yet but for locals aren't there local roads off the main highway to use for just this sort of problem, that wouldn't be as efficient during normal times but are clearly better during busy times. That said thank goodness I didn't elect to arrive the 19th. Will Soi 6 , Lolitas et al operate on these days? I hope so as they can serve as a refuge and a place for a hummer at the same time which in think is a fabulous notion.

What I'd like to see is a car rental place that rents the car and a driver and the driver is their employee and a wreck is their problem so you can squire around with someone who knows how to get from A to B and ideally less than hiring a cab or limo by the day. I have rented cars with provided drivers in Central America and Chile this way because of the assignment of risk to the driver , more so for a gringo driver and it was far less than hiring a taxi and a better car to boot. Anyone used Mr T on a daily rate to look around, go to Ban Chang etc.?
-
Unless they have two more letters prepared one saying the 17th and the other the 18th

I hope Mr. T's driver knows Pattaya well enough to find various ways around towards RG. Maybe RG is a good choice for the first few days away from mayhem assuming he can get me there.
-
I arrive the 17th at 1030 at BKK , what's the opinion on how bad the first day will be? Do you think Mr. T's drivers know detours around the congestion to where RG is? With fast track at BKK I could be on the road by 11 am. But it is Sunday which portends to be popular.

What bank is close to Residence Garden for an ATM, and what decent exchange house? Or are banks OK for this as well? (Thinking not a lot of English) I'd rather not shlep all the way to the other end of town for an ATM or to change traveller's cheques. Also someone mentioned a short cut to walk from RG to FLB - anyone able to describe that? Otherwise to walk , it seems to be maybe a couple kilometers via 2nd road and then 16/15, does that seem right? Under two weeks now....

Since it appears that the dates are fixed vs. astrological and are the 13-15th for most of Thailand and apparently different for Pattaya, what happened last year (since the dates are fixed, experience should tell)?
-
I am arriving on the 17th, 11 a.m. at BKK and Mr. T has already confirmed that he is picking me up.

In a small railroad town in Saskatchewan next to the tracks was bad enough but in addition to the tone deaf country band two floors down in the bar to two a.m. the hotel had settled so much from the vibrations the dog would slide from one side of the room to the other and couldn't get traction to get back up without sliding down again where he gave up finally, and slept. This was in about 1962 and in 2003 it was still there. The floors must be at 45 degrees by now.

Anyone else noticed a drop in food quality at PBG lately?
Grandpollo replied to frostfire's topic in Restaurants and food
Whenever you watch Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (I know, he's a bit much) the first recommendation and one of the main problems is these small restaurants have 800 items on the menu and can't cook 20 of them well. First order of business turfs most of the menu and they resume with a menu of 20 things they can make. 20 may be too little but many items are a problem operationally so it appears. I plan to patronize it as part of my patronize board members/ business etc., and I like the idea of finding freelancers not on a beach per se. -
There are bells in Yukon that go back to the 1860's gold rush which predates the Vietnam War by close to 100 years.

It is an emprty of dates dating site that a) doesn't work and wants money PDQ on viewing the (non-existent) girls. Lots of 1st post noob spammers of late selling all sorts of crap. However if you want to date a barbeque, look nor further than his about this site info: Any grils in Pattaya want to be added to the site, please send me a message via the contact page or at...

I will be doing a TR and will add this info. Here's one way I distinguished the two (of a few services similarly available) - they take VISA and MC with Verified By ViSA and the MC equivalent, and don't depend on PayPal which is just a way of saying - the bank won't give us a credit card account - bad signal. And in a frequent flyer forum I frequent the one I chose is mentioned with good experience and the 400 baht difference is not worth saving. What will grind my bunions is if Cathay gives me the same thing in Business Class in both directions, but since I have never been to this
