Hello to you all. Choices and racism.
Grandpollo replied to shetty's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
An example being calling blacks or African Americans negros. -
A good place for hotel questions might be the hotel section vs. trip reports as it has more open access and of course this isn't a trip report.

It helped me figure out where the RG is and even Rose Apple and when I arrived ttk filled in the gaps for me. Even a little bit out of date it allows someone new to get a good idea of how things are laid out.

It has been around for quite a while. The bottom half of a view shows a map corresponding to what you see in the upper photo so figuring out where "you" are isn't hard.

I'd say read a few dozen posts and then ask questions to narrow down what you need more specific info about. Otherwise you'll get yes it is a good idea and no it's too long. I doubt you'll see a huge difference over Phuket other than you're not on an island and can travel about more.

The other strategy is to buy a phone for where you are for $30 or less and that's what you use, keeping a good phone for where you live. I have phones from four different countries and even though they are mostly locked to one provider they were even cheaper as a result and all I use them for is that country for when I go back. No phoneys and the phone company warranties them for six months to a year. Tukcom warranties them until you switch floors at Tukcom. Tukcom was busted not long ago for selling counterfeit phones so quad or pentaband you may not even be getting a real phone anyway so limit the risk to a phone that is so cheap that nobody bothers to counterfeit it. I have found smartphones are like a jack of all trades and master of none anyway. Too small to read well, mediocre cameras touchy touchscreens and costly. I prefer disaggregating them to have an iPad for the reading, a proper camera for pictures , a Flip or Kodak HD camera for video and a phone to use as a phone, with a real vs. virtual keyboard for texting. Better quality all around especially the picture and video quality.

What is more expensive in Pattaya
Grandpollo replied to harro1's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
About $7.30 with taxes for the McChicken, so THB 220 or so. -
Best places to buy souvenirs
Grandpollo replied to short's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Best place would be China where they are all made. Less shipping costs. -
My July fare went down nearly $4,000 on Cathay Pacific with their new business class and getting rid of first class entirely on their planes on my route so the 2 1/2 weeks is paid for with the difference.

Posts too big for my screen.
Grandpollo replied to jacko's topic in Technical problems or questions.
It doesn't resize for me either but if you click on the photo (in Firefox, anyway) it opens and is readable in the centre of your screen. -
Weren't you leaving? Thus your opinion here is no more valuable than the loads of tripe you trolled into the board before you bid adieu.

Here we go....

Guilty as charged - I changed mine after I got a message someone stole the one I was using. Since replaced with boobies. And the animated GIF works again, the one I had didn't work anyway Please vote - the one on the left or below?

It is in LK Metro on the corner IIRC. Soi Diana Inn right at the entrance to LK Metro before you get to Buakhao but far closer than 2nd road as with all of LK Metro. You can see it on Pattaya Photoguide. So LK Metro is reasonably distant at zero metres/feet/yards

On most computers the DVD plays in hardware overlay which means that many screen capture applications cannot see it to capture it. Far faster anyway to rip the content from the DVD and convert to a format for say iPod. To rip to copy it there are many applications designed for that. Even if screen capture worked it takes 2 hours to capture 2 hours. Ripping is far faster than that. So is buying a bootleg at Tukcom for $3.

344 square feet is pretty small isn't it? Don't own a cat as there is not enough room to swing one.

The amount of time you spend is irrelevant. For someone to sniff a data stream and figure out and decode a live SSL connection would take tens of millions of computers working for thousands of years. Bank account takeovers or fraud occur when you let someone see your ID and password, which happens mostly from phishing e-mail (fake e-mail that looks like it came from your bank and with a link that takes you to a "bank" website that is not actually theirs), and occasionally with an internet cafe where a device is on the computer that captures each keystroke which are then copied after you're gone. Or foolishly trusting ANYONE with login information.

Just keep in mind the ACTUAL probability of someone actively sniffing a hotel wifi with authentication is still not very high. It is more work than benefit really. Since banking and such winds up as SSL on top of the authentication. I have four wireless access points at home with WPA PSK using AES and MAC address filtering (worthless other than for the simplest attempts) and in many years the router logs show literally zero attempts from unrecognized MAC addresses. In a big city. I do agree never use a Internet cafe computer for other than surfing sites that you don't use ID to access. Never due to key logging, caching who knows what they can capture.

A round trip whether it starts in Manchester or ends there is going to have a landing there. Maybe they can parachute out before touchdown. Here are all the coach R/T fares on Etihad in coach one week prior to departure. Just because there is a "U" fare listed doesn't mean there is a "U" fare in inventory for sale, but it appears there is and a travel agent would be a good idea. The 3M/6M/12M is the maximum stay allowed in months. It is safe if you use SSL connections or a VPN connection. Those offer practically speaking unbreakable connections. They are using a secure connection with a RADIUS server if they require you to enter a room/name or password when you are connecting. You will see an intercept when you go to browse and you have to authenticate your ID to go on. This is the most common hotel scheme unless they just hand out a password and change it now and then, or never, (which means telling all users the new info) or they don't use security at all. Which is also pretty common. Frankly RADIUS is probably enough (your computer can tell you if it is WPA which is very robust or WEP which is very weak- these are the encryption protocols that are available) because a lot of security issues are pretty theoretical. Yes you can break WEP (easily, in minutes) but are there raving gangs of internet sniffers outside your room or hotel? 99.99% odds against. The loads of drunk punters sharing the space are not doing this hacking in their spare time. For banking you'll always be on an SSL connection and there are web VPN services but the reality is the risk is pretty low in reality vs. the science.

It is entirely due to booking 7 days before flying. While you wait for the visa you may find it cheaper to change your return date to a later date, and her ticket may then wind up being lower by more than the change fee.

Last waltz are really high and last sonata, well, forget it.

Posting a rough idea of budget might help people recommend something as well.

The hotels or the ladyboys or both? If you're in Qatar do you speak Arabic? I need the Arabic word for "troll".
