  1. The elevated road collapse was some distance from then entrance to BKK (Anapana on the screen shot below), so wouldn't have affected traffic into and out of BKK.
  2. A few pics of other buildings in the area around Penthouse. Thought about making a "Guess Where Was I?" post with this pic, but then figured for many BM's it'd be too easy.
  3. Since my photo of the Penthouse sparked some reminiscing I went back this morning for some interior pictures. Even in the current state of disrepair I could see what an interesting venue it had been back in the day. I hope they do restore the place as I expect it would do well in this era of cooky cutter beer bars and GC's where few have a unique identity.
  4. What I thought was going to be a food market across from Nirun is starting to look more like an overflow area for prisoners.
  5. Good Morning Pattaya. A few pics from this morning's walkabout around Pattaya.
  6. Quite possible. I seem to recall at one point during the lockdown months a sign advertising the location was going to be a new location for one of the fitness centers.
  7. That's a remake of Made In Thailand. I've been calling it MIT v2. IIRC, saw on another forum they're looking to open 1 October. If that's true they'd better pick up the construction pace. From plans I've seen posted on another forum there will be about 50 beer bars, one way vehicle access from Buakhao to 2nd Rd., and space for three vehicles to park.
  8. Wonder when they're going to finish the new pumping station south of Khao Noi on the railway road. Think it's been over two years since they started on the project to deepen the canal and install the pumping station.
  9. Julu has been open a couple of weeks. My take is it's a late night nightclub. https://www.facebook.com/Jujunightclub
  10. Photos of the new median they're putting in on Thepprasit. What's odd is there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason where they're putting in the cut throughs. Standing at a cut through where there are no soi's intersecting Thepprasit, looking towards Sukhumvit. Same cut through looking west. Not sure if this will eventually be a cut through for Soi 11. Across from the Forum, which is closed, they have a cut through, but for west bound traffic wanting to go to the market another 25m distance, they'll have to do a U-Turn and then quickly make their way across two l
  11. For the new light poles on Pattaya Tai they must have used a random number generator to decide how far from the curb they were going to plant each pole.
  12. Street View has a good historical record of the location dating from Oct 2012 when the building was being built, and then yearly updates beginning in 2016. https://www.google.co.th/maps/@12.9274521,100.8835818,3a,75y,337.94h,92.92t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s71Hc0S7yzw8WETByzF_-_A!2e0!5s20121001T000000!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en&entry=ttu

  14. That "new" place is now closed. https://www.facebook.com/DynamiteEntPattaya/
  15. A bit of color at Tree Town Food market across from Nirun now advertising space for rent. Amazing Thailand. Want to throw a party, just close off the public street in front of your house, pitch a tent and party on.
  16. 2nd Rd end of Soi 15 is passable only for those on two wheels or two feet. Hope this excavator operator is better than the last and stays clear of the utility lines. Building construction next to the Amethyst Hotel.
  17. Hope no one is in a rush to use the beach shower. Like most projects here, they get started on the project and then like a kid with attention deficit disorder lose interest and seemingly abandon the project. Morning roll call for lifeguards. Still don't know if they can swim as I've never seen them in the water.
  18. I asked my friend who is there most mornings for exercise. This was his reply. I was just there about an hour ago doing my morning routine. Yes, there are lots of dogs on Buddha hill, but in my opinion, they do not pose a threat to people unless someone is "stupid" enough to try to befriend them (ie...approach them without first making proper dog to people affirmative contact). They are well fed by locals, many have collars, they roam freely, bark at each other, and may snarl if the person scares them from behind or threatens them with a stick or aggressive eye contact. The real dang
  19. Quite a few use the area in the early morning hours for exercise.
  20. The high voltage electric was buried. The news article mentioned the electric poles will be removed next month. Zooming in on one of the pics you can see the overhead HV lines are no longer active as the breakers are pulled and the feeds to where a transformer once sat are cut. The beige colored boxes are new, so I expect they'll still be there after the transformer above is removed.
  21. The street art is looking pretty scruffy. Where there once was one illegal bridge, there are now two. Amazing Thailand.
  22. It's true, Pattaya is Finally Removing Unsightly Electrical Wires off Walking Street. They missed a few wires though. The squirrel roasters will soon be a thing of the past.
