  1. And several months ago they were claiming the work would be done by August 20th. Again, no year mentioned.
  2. A very useful app. I had tried it on the sign, but as you can see in Mr. Blue Flag's post it wasn't much use.
  3. I wonder if this sign, all in Thai, was to inform me of the new location.
  4. Needed to buy some good quality pens, so planned my bike route this morning to swing by Office Mate on Suk and Tai. Unfortunately I missed the memo the store, along with Baan & Beyond are no more.
  5. Soi 15 update. Someone finally got smart and put up a barrier to keep the construction mess out of the Buakhao drains. The Korando's babbling brook is still burbling along nicely. The beginnings of another hole on the 2nd Rd end of Soi 15.
  6. Don't fall into the same trap as me and forget what topic you're looking at pictures in. See my post two posts above yours.
  7. ^^^ Once they start the repaving I'm guessing less than two months before they tear up some part of the road surface for another project.
  8. LOL. The coffee hadn't kicked in when I saw your pic this morning, so completely missed the topic it was posted in.
  9. That's a non-standard marking for a bike lane. Were there signs identifying i as a bike lane? I hope they added grit to the paint as otherwise it's going to be damn slippery when wet.
  10. The one next MaxxCity opened a couple of months ago, IIRC. When they built it several years ago, it looked like it was going to be a combination of food and beer bars, but then Covid hit. At one time I heard one of the best ROI businesses in Pattaya were laundry businesses.
  11. 2nd Rd intersection with Soi 15, the hole has gotten bigger. The work on burying utility lines is also moving south on 2nd Rd. Another Otteri wash & dry place has opened adjacent to Nirun. Good to see them planting something other than more beer bars and cannabis shops.
  12. Today's Soi Mud (previously known as Soi 15) update. Please take a moment to admire the quality Thai workmanship on leveling the concrete. Happen to come at the right time to watch them moving a section of the large drain pipe. As they started on the turn where I positioned myself to take pics, I realized as I watched the pipe start to sway I was in an untenable position. With the concrete wall behind me and a large pipe swinging it had all the makings for a very bad ending for me. Found a safer position and decided to make a movie of the fun.
  13. Sure glad my mode of of transport is two wheels. Four wheel traffic is backed up on 2nd Rd from The Avenue to M.I.T. v2 due to work on burying utility lines.
  14. Today's Soi 15 disaster update. Not easy to see in this photo, but the seam on the left side of the DIY access tube hasn't been sealed and you can see the backfill looking for an escape route into the drain. The concrete fix they made a month or two ago to bring the road surface level with the top of the drain gate is already spalling off. Another not easy to see in the photo, but looking down into the drains on the completed section of Soi 15, every one is filled to the top of the drain pipe with sand and gravel. Someone has a big job ahead of them cleaning out the drains.
  15. My guess is that's the footing for a crane, which means it's going to big one going into that piece of land. The pics of what's getting built might make for a good new topic along the lines of "What Is Rising In Pattaya", if you're so inclined.
  16. The warning applies to pretty much everywhere in Pattaya.
  17. I expect rents are pretty steep on Beach Rd, so probably not enough customers to cover operating costs.
  18. Be nice if that were an Olympic size, 50m swimming pool they're putting in. One can dream. 🏊‍♂️🛌
  19. Today's Soi 15 update. The owners of the two pairs of shoes were in the pipe and looked to be clearing it of debris. Wonder how they're going to repair the separated sections of pipe. One would have expected them to do that before they backfilled. The backhoe threw a shoe. Korando's is now riverfront property. Nothing happening on the 2nd Rd end. There's something definitely wrong with the project when the pipe is full of water and we haven't had rain in over a week.
  20. If only reality would catch up with what the AI has produced. Heck, we'd all be happy if it was just plain, old, boring concrete for a road surface.
  21. Noticed last night quite a back up in traffic on 2nd Rd. First obstruction is at the Soi 15 intersection. Then starting at The Bayview they're digging holes in the road again. The holes are for putting utility conduit underground. No idea why they're doing this again as last year they had the road dug up for the same reason. Amazing Thailand.
  22. Soi 15 progress update. I like the new water feature on the soi. The headwaters for the Soi 15 creek. At the pace they're putting the concrete road in, there's no way they'll have it finished by the end of this month.
  23. After an unpleasant encounter with a Chinese couple at Bali Hai a group of us had a great day out yesterday drinking and swimming while anchored off the Ko Sak beach, the small island just north of Ko Lan. Paying the price today with a nice shade of red on my face and upper body.
