This is going to cost the contractor a lot more than the two business signs they previously knocked down. Fire alarms tourists in Pattaya after excavator gets entangled with wires Many people witnessed a fire that caught on cable wires on Soi Buakhao 15 in Pattaya around 3 PM today, October 19th. The flames broke out after an excavator that was working on a drainage project on Soi Buakhao 15 got its arm entangled with the wires above it by accident, an eyewitness told The Pattaya News. Tourists and residents fled the scene immediately, and there are no reports of injuries s

The green tracked excavator you see at the 00:30 mark is undoubtedly the culprit that started the fire. It was working to push construction barriers into the ground prior to excavating and probably hit the utility lines and power box shorting out the mess and starting the electrical fire. The same excavator was also responsible for accidently knocking down a couple of overhead business signs over the last several months too. Had a good chuckle to at the Thai worker that was rushing to put out the fire with a small pail of water (04:29). And the fire dept that is only about 20

Saw the following pics on the FB page for Pattaya's mayor (link). The drains pictured are at the intersection of 3rd Rd and Klang. With that much debris accumulated in the drains it's no surprise the flooding continues. -
It's a Thai ID card for foreign nationals. I seem to recall someone posting on another forum you only need to register at the local hospital to get the discounted local rate, no pink ID card needed. Haven't heard of anyone having any success in doing that at one of the Pattaya hospitals though. The Pink ID Card – A Guide for Foreign Nationals ... This pretty little card is an official form of identification for non-Thai nationals living in Thailand long term. Those with permanent residency, and long-stay expats (O visa, etc) are eligible. The card also provides a form of ID for sta

They're back... the all too familiar orange construction barriers for the Beach Rd project to add a lane on the north end. -

Seeing how slow the public works projects take here, I wouldn't go that far. It's also questionable how long the drains will remain effective given the amount of garbage and road debris that gets dumped into them. -

Once it stops raining the flood waters will drain away within an hour or two. Quite a difference from several years ago. The drainage work they've been working on the last couple of years is having a positive effect on removing the water quickly. -

Construction update on the new market next to Nirun. They've started clearing another plot of land ahead of construction. Looks like this area will be covered market stalls. Not looking forward to the traffic congestion that is bound to happen due to the narrow road and inadequate space for parking. -

Forget which forum, but a BM posted he thought he was getting 1 story. Which he did, but the 1 story was several meters off the ground. Not a bad idea if the area is prone to flooding. Could that be what the tall girders are for? -
Because I always keep my Kindle in airplane mode to avoid software updates, I download my Kindle purchases and then copy the file via USB to my Kindle. Never a problem doing it this way. You'll find the option to download under Contents & Devices, Digital Content. Once downloaded, copy the azw3 file to the documents folder on the Kindle. BTW, just finished reading the books E.E. Borton wrote. A good read if you're into his type of book.

Noticed the other day, farther down on Klang they were once again ripping up a large section of the street. Amazing Thailand how often they tear up a street that was recently paved. -
Excellent photo essay. TFP!

A day later and Soi 15 is barricaded to all but foot traffic east of the Grand entrance. The Grand entrance is still accessible on the west side of the construction. You can get to Buakhao from Soi 15 via Soi Piss to Soi Dianna, or via the road to ko ko tel. -

They've started on breaking up the concrete east of the Grand entrance on Soi 15. Looks like Grand residents will still have vehicle access as one lane is now open west of the entrance. -

The new road surface on WS came through unscathed too. Soi 16 canal waters were running fast. One section of the footpath has been taken over by the jungle. -

A photo survey of the damage to the beach after last night's storm. Across from Soi 5 repairs underway. Surprisingly south of Klang I saw no beach erosion. Across from the Soi 13's in the past had some of the worst erosion. Today nothing. -

Took a ride down Beach Rd and found the beach showing no signs of damage after last night's heavy and persistent rains. Quite an improvement from years past. Good thing too as it would have been embarrassing to have the Pattaya Beach Games with the beach washed away.
