  1. The the deputy mayor would be well advised not to make such bold predictions. Power pole removal project on Pattaya Central Road will be completed in November 2022, deputy mayor says Pictures from this afternoon.
  2. The dinosaurs are getting into the festive mood.
  3. When they're done destructing/reconstructing the footpath it'll be interesting to compare before and after pics to figure out what they accomplished with this project.
  4. As your tag line indicates you're using Tapatalk, it's a reasonable assumption that is the app you're using to view this forum. On Pattaya Addicts the mods/admin have stated updates to the forum software, which is the same used on PT (Invision), have caused issues with Tapatalk. You'll need to report the issue to Tapatalk as the problem is with their app.
  5. Most might already know this, but if you use an agent for your visa or extension to stay, they'll do the 90 day reports for free. In my case the online system is so quick and easy to use now, it's not worth the time and effort to have my agent do it for free.
  6. When I used to do my own extension to stay, and 90 day report in person, your point about the miserable people sitting and milling around is spot on. Worse were the idiots that weren't prepared and then argued with the officer as if their own shortcomings in the intelligence department was somehow the officer's fault.
  7. As tallguy posted, there are several carts driving around selling made to order banana pancakes. Very tasty, sweet treat. Photos from Google.
  8. I don't understand why they had to dig up the north end of the Beach Rd footpath. The footpath was in no worse condition than the rest of Beach Rd and the curb certainly didn't need replacing.
  9. Mabprachan Reservoir is looking equally as good. Like Huai Chak Nok Reservoir, the spillway on Mabprachan now has running water again. Can't ever remember seeing the old boat house flooded out. Looks like they're quarrying gravel, which when they're done will further increase the reservoir capacity. The side footpath on the north side is now completed and has several exercise stations along its length. Searching for coins in the kratongs. I remember not long ago the pumping station was sucking mud, no longer though. The new Dollhouse Darkside GC on the east side of the reservoir.
  10. Had a look this morning at the state of the reservoirs at the end of the rainy season. The news is good. First time in I can't remember how many years, maybe nine, that I've seen the reservoirs full. First set of pics showing Huai Chak Nok Reservoir. Looks like one of the channels they dug during the drought is now being used as a fish farm. The prevailing winds has pushed all the floating vegetation to the south end of the reservoir. Closer to the north side it looks like they strung a cable across to keep the vegetation from clogging the new park on the north end when the winds shift around. Something to behold, the water level is up to the spillway edge for the first time in donkey years. On the east side they now have an outlet pipe which I believe connects to water sources south of Pattaya. That gives the water management dept the option of pumping water into the reservoir when things get dire again. Nice house with some great views going up on the southwest side. Unfortunately the view right now will be a sea of green. There is now a beautiful park on the north end of the reservoir which you can read about in this topic. https://forums.pattayatalk.com/topic/69095-bike-paths-routes-around-pattaya/?do=findComment&comment=1318769
  11. Huai Chak Nok Reservoir has a new park and the beginnings of a new bike path on the north end. Looks great, IMHO, and looking forward to seeing the completion of the bike path and how far around the reservoir it will go.
  12. Walking the dogs this evening and could smell a good amount of smoke in the air. No surprised when I checked the AQI site it reported this.
  13. Not spotted any Sai Oua carts as of yet.
  14. Looked this up as I hadn't heard the name before. I've seen several carts roaming the soi's around Pattaya with Sai Qua hanging from from hooks, then grilled to order. I'll try to remember to snap a pic next time I see a cart, hopefully with a phone number displayed so you can have them deliver.
  15. Seems the issue that was previously resolved has come back to haunt the board. @frostfire to the rescue.
  16. North end of WS, the new pavers are getting a colorful paint job. Wonder if they'll bury the utility lines before something starts them on fire. Spotted the culprit of the Soi 15 fire hiding out on 2nd Rd. Wonder if it has a new driver.
  17. Figured this old topic was an appropriate place to post the soc sec good news that just hit my inbox.
  18. This is going to cost the contractor a lot more than the two business signs they previously knocked down. Fire alarms tourists in Pattaya after excavator gets entangled with wires Many people witnessed a fire that caught on cable wires on Soi Buakhao 15 in Pattaya around 3 PM today, October 19th. The flames broke out after an excavator that was working on a drainage project on Soi Buakhao 15 got its arm entangled with the wires above it by accident, an eyewitness told The Pattaya News. Tourists and residents fled the scene immediately, and there are no reports of injuries so far after the fire was put out by Pattaya firefighters. However, five cars that were parked near the fire were damaged including a black Toyota Yaris, a white Honda HRV, a bronze Toyota Yaris, a black Toyota Altis, and a white Honda Civic. About 200 meters of incinerated communication wires were left at the scene, pending an investigation from Pattaya relevant officials. Many businesses and homes also have no power as of press time.
  19. The green tracked excavator you see at the 00:30 mark is undoubtedly the culprit that started the fire. It was working to push construction barriers into the ground prior to excavating and probably hit the utility lines and power box shorting out the mess and starting the electrical fire. The same excavator was also responsible for accidently knocking down a couple of overhead business signs over the last several months too. Had a good chuckle to at the Thai worker that was rushing to put out the fire with a small pail of water (04:29). And the fire dept that is only about 200m away sure took their sweet time getting to the fire.
  20. Saw the following pics on the FB page for Pattaya's mayor (link). The drains pictured are at the intersection of 3rd Rd and Klang. With that much debris accumulated in the drains it's no surprise the flooding continues.
  21. It's a Thai ID card for foreign nationals. I seem to recall someone posting on another forum you only need to register at the local hospital to get the discounted local rate, no pink ID card needed. Haven't heard of anyone having any success in doing that at one of the Pattaya hospitals though. The Pink ID Card – A Guide for Foreign Nationals ... This pretty little card is an official form of identification for non-Thai nationals living in Thailand long term. Those with permanent residency, and long-stay expats (O visa, etc) are eligible. The card also provides a form of ID for stateless persons. To get the ID card you need to have a Thai ID number. The way to obtain this number is by getting the Yellow Book Tabien Baan (see this article). Basically, you register your place of residence at a local district office and receive a yellow house book with your name listed as an occupant. This book comes with an ID number. ... The ID card doesn't provide any significant benefits. However, it does get around the need to carry your passport, which, as a foreign national, is required by law. You should be able to fly domestically using this card, too, as Thais do with their ID card. At least that's the legal theory. I haven't got a card, so I'd be interested to know if anyone has tried this. It used to be the case that having a Pink ID Card meant that you would be charged the “Thai price” at national parks and historical sites. If you didn't know, Thai nationals pay up to 10x less than foreign nationals for entry at such places. However, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore, certainly not at Doi Inthanon or Khao Yai. You may find that you get the concession at smaller, local places, but since the card doesn't make you Thai, I wouldn't bank on it. ...
