  1. Current state of construction progress can be summed up in one word, stalled. It's been about a year since they completed the construction of the access road and this is what it looked like this morning. Can understand projects being worked on in phases, but in Thailand the time lag between phases often times is measured in year(s).
  2. Welcome to my world of traveling back to central US. Door to door is usually 34+ hours.
  3. Saw a crew out this morning shooting tranquillizer darts at soi dogs. If I understood correctly, once tranquilized they're getting a shot of rabies vaccine.
  4. Roof is almost finished on the building next to the 747.
  5. Just past the WS entrance I came upon this sight. Not easy to see in the pic, but the guy was using an acetylene torch to remove a sign under all those wires. What could possibly go wrong... Not to worry though, he had a bottle of water to put out any errant flames.
  6. Soi 15 roadworks update. Still open for for four wheel traffic to Grand Avenue, two wheel and those on foot can still run the construction obstacle course on the left side to get through to The Avenue and Soi Piss Alley. Think the massage shops have given up opening until the construction is finished. The south end of Soi Buakhao is blocked while they work on burying the overhead lines.
  7. WS paving update. No more footpaths on WS, which is just as well since the electric junction boxes and utility poles rendered them useless as footpaths. Bars along Soi 16, opposite Raas Disco have been razed.
  8. I joked what was a football pitch across from M Club might be parking for the Chinese tour buses. Turns out I was kind of right, but the parking is for a more upscale clientele, overflow parking for the new Arbor Hotel on 3rd Rd.
  9. Noticed this hole the other night while riding by. No streetlights in the area, and no barriers to keep the unwary from falling in. An accident waiting to happen. The area is just past the Full Love Inn strip of GC's and across from Nirun.
  10. Just read the topic on Asean and if it's the same one you read, the BM named grain gives an accurate account of what happened. One point made in his post that I agree with, there should have been a head count before the boat left Koh Larn. Kind of surprised that wasn't done as it was a private hire that took them out to the island and back, so it would have been easy to do. But then again we refer to hashers as half-minds, and if you come to hash runs/events you'll soon realize that's a pretty apt description of the hashers, and perhaps overly generous description for some.
  11. Having a good chuckle seeing a hash friend has made the news. They had a hash run on Koh Larn on Sunday. He went off trail and ended up sliding down a steep slope. Crawled back up to where several Thai came upon him. They summoned the rescue squad and bundled him off to the hospital to get patched up. By then then the boat hired by the hash had left with his bag and all his money, and on top of that, the last ferry of the day had left too. The Thai organized a private boat for him, got him back to Pattaya where he was met by the Tourist Police who gave him a ride back to his hotel; all gratis. The Thai really came through helping him out. Well done on their part. ?? https://www.facebook.com/Thepattayanews/posts/1197959664288374
  12. Soi 15 work now progressed up to Grand and Centara entrances.
  13. Should have waited until I had watched a couple more episodes of Kenobi before offering up an opinion on the series. Ended up FF through quite a few scenes as I found most of the dialog boring and tedious. I agree with the negative reviews on IMDb. Disney had some great material to work with, but fell far short in making what could have been a great series.
  14. The domain name he was using has expired. Using the Wayback Machine I was able to view his contact page from Sept 2019. https://web.archive.org/web/20190906202854/http://www.condopattaya-rent.com/contactus-2.html
  15. Two months ago there was a crash at the Sukhumvit entrance to Hwy 7. Luckily the 10 occupants of the SUV walked away with only minor injuries due to the crash barrier absorbing most of the energy of the impact. Just shameful that as of this morning the Highway Dept still hasn't replaced that barrier.
  16. Give the place mentioned in the linked post below a try. They might even let you pick them yourself. If it turns out they don't grow tomatoes they would probably be able to point you to another place that does.
  17. Started watching this series. If you're into sci-fi it's not bad.
  18. Started watching this and was thinking WTF, not the Frasier I knew and enjoyed watching 20+ years ago. A very well done spoof.
  19. IIRC, a news report about the, then new vegetable farm on Soi Full Love Inn reported a taxi driver started the farm to earn money during the pandemic. From the continued expansion of the farm I'd say he's done quite well. Good on him. Pics of Honour Organic Farm as it looks today.
  20. For my morning ride I headed out to the Naklua Market, a fresh seafood lovers paradise. Next stop was to check on the WS paving work. Progress still moving at a glacial pace with paving up to Soi 14. And prep work just past Soi LePub. Over on Buakhao Soi 15, Soi Piss Alley is only accessible if you're on two wheels or feet.
  21. Have a look at the topic linked below. The High Contrast Chrome extension I recommend in my post helps quite a bit. The next post has another suggestion on how to set your preferred font.
  22. Wonder what a building with no windows will be used for.
  23. Not much progress on WS which is not surprising since most of the workforce is huddled up in the shade. They're working on compacting the vacant land next to Nirun. Be interesting to see what kind of buildings they plant on the land.
  24. Not surprised to see the no parking signs that went up a little over a month ago are now being ignored and not enforced.
