  1. Closed to traffic starting last night.
  2. Just saw the news report on the no parking signs. Only time I've noticed traffic backed up was when cars and baht buses stopped to pick up or drop off passengers. Instead of making the entire area in front of Tree Town no parking, they could have designated a smaller section for pickups and drop offs. Agree with you on the problem of accessing the footpath from street, but that could be easily solved with a couple of small no parking areas like they have in front of the Night Bazaar on 2nd Rd.
  3. Sitting at Prommannee last night enjoying a couple of drinks when shortly after 7pm saw a lady putting out No Parking signs in front of tree town. Asked the owner of Prom about it and she didn't know why they were putting up the signs. Not easy to see in the pic, but the sign has hours for no parking listed as 6pm - 1am. Apparently the signs are official as about an hour and half later the police showed up and were forcing people to clear the no parking area. I'm puzzled by what they're trying to achieve with the no parking as the road is sufficiently wide at this point for two lanes of traffic, even with bikes and cars parked up. Also stopped in at Billabong last night and was puzzled by what this sign in the bathroom meant. The faucets worked fine, so it wasn't about that. Anyone with Thai skills, what is the other sign advising for 300B?
  4. Don't remember if it's been reported before, but the new, large building on the Xzyte Market grounds now has a name.
  5. Looks like a new business, home delivery tattoos. Update on the not finished in our lifetime beach improvement project. They're back... Soi 15 update
  6. Ask the agent for help setting up an account. If they're interested enough in your long term, extension to stay, business, I would hope they wouldn't charge for helping out with setting up the account. Another option if you decide to go with Maneerat, they use the Bangkok Bank branch on Beach Rd. You could stop in at that branch office, explain you'll be using Maneerat and ask them to open an account for you before engaging the agent's services. Edited to add: Coincidently, just read on another forum a guy who did what I had suggested, asked the visa agent for help to open an account. Agent at not cost to him made a call, gave him a personal note to take to the branch and a short time later he had his account. And as it turns out it was the Bangkok Bank branch on Beach Rd. The visa agent he went to was next to Cheap Charlies on Buakhao.
  7. In addition to what @sailingbill posted, I've read in a couple of different places, none official, the immigration boss has leeway on waiving the length of time the 800k deposit is in the bank. Thus the agents doing a quick in and out of the 800k in your bank account to keep things kosher.
  8. I've used an agent (Manareet) for the last couple of years, ever since immigration stopped accepting embassy issued income affidavits. Well worth the 12,500B cost to avoid dealing with immigration, and more importantly tying up 800k in a Thai bank when, as you posted, you can earn more than enough to cover the agent's cost by investing in your home country. Several posts on the subject in this topic...
  9. My experience with the roundabout in Pattaya is the Thai's don't have a clue how to navigate a roundabout. They'll sit and wait for traffic to clear the roundabout before entering. Might as well be a four way intersection for all the good it does.
  10. I agree, renting for a couple of weeks and giving the different models a try is the best option for settling on which bike a person is most comfortable with. One model I would whole heartedly recommend giving a try is the Aerox. IMHO, Yamaha has hit the sweet spot between size and rider comfort with the bike.
  11. On the darkside, a big chunk of land off of Soi Nern Plub Wan across from Soi 22 is being developed. No signs as to what's going in. With the mosquito breeding grounds, excuse me, water features, perhaps a park? And on the brightside, the road to Dany's Sports Bar should be completed by end of day.
  12. Air quality has been terrible the last couple of days.
  13. Needed something as it's a muddy mess after a rain. Hopefully it's more for foot traffic than two or four wheeled traffic. As an aside, wish they'd put speed bumps on Buakhao. Too many a-holes doing the look at me, I can go fast shit to try and impress Buddha knows who.
  14. New road going in at the back of Tree Town.
  15. I agree, the recliner seats they used for Delta BC back in the day were very uncomfortable. It was a nice improvement when they upgraded the cabin with almost lie flat seats. But the 170 degree incline meant you still had to fight gravity to avoid sliding off the end of the seat while trying to sleep. They finally got it right with the Delta One BC product. I've been flying Delta almost exclusively for decades, but unless their BC air fares come down to to a more reasonable price I'll be giving other carriers my business. Flight prices below are RT BKK-MKE.
  16. Base of the berm is getting more large sandbags today.
  17. The length of time since the license expired will determine the number of hoops she'll need to jump through to get it reinstated. How to Get a Thai Driving License: Documents, Tests, and Renewals When Can I Renew My Driving License? You can renew your Thai driving license three months before it expires or within one year after it’s expired. If it expired over a year ago, you need to take the theory test again. In case it expired over 3 years ago, you need to retake both the theory test and the practical driving test.
  18. If you're asking about the registration renewal for a motorbike, have a look in this topic.
  19. @BigusDicus, Diana Ross has a great voice, and that was cool pic of her you posted, but I still prefer Rodgers & Hammerstein's original arrangement of the song. They produced some great musicals.
  20. What’s the Purpose of Pubic Hair? Yes, pubic hair does have a purpose. Above all else, it lessens friction during sex and prevents the transmission of bacteria and other pathogens.
  21. According to the graphic in this article, Pattaya ranks 1,223 out of 6,475 cities as most polluted. These were the best and worst places for air quality in 2021, new report shows
  22. Working is progressing very slowly on the reinforcement work at the north end of Beach Rd.
