Pattaya Area Construction Projects
forcebwithu replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yes, started this morning. A pics from the Pattaya News FB page (link). And this is what they're planning for the new footpath to look like. Talk about sterile looking, and practically no shade. Color me not impressed. -
Pattaya Area Construction Projects

UPDATE on several planned Pattaya projects: Extreme sports area near Bali Hai, Pattaya Beach renovation, and sports center Meanwhile, Pattaya City has started the renovation of North Pattaya to South Pattaya Beach at a distance of 2.7 kilometers. Mr. Kietisak Siwongchai, the Pattaya City Deputy Administrative Chief Officer, told The Pattaya News, “We have hired the Nong Nooch Landscape & Garden Design Co., Ltd. to renovate the beach since August 6th of this year which is expected to be finished in November 2023 (Yes, over two years). The total budget is set at 116,100,000 baht.” -
And so it begins, the next round of beach "improvements".

Adding to the confusion, even though the graphic on the BPH webpage tells you to choose Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, when you click on the link there is no location for Pattaya listed.

Once registered there was no confirming SMS until the evening before my appointment, When checking in I only needed to show them the SMS on my phone. I didn't have any of the other high risk conditions, other than over 60.

I had my first jab of AstraZeneca yesterday afternoon at BPH. I showed up for my 2pm appointment about 45 minutes early. Not a problem as they have stacks of check-in forms sequentially numbered by your appointment hour. They called out numbers in groups of five about every four minutes. Waited only about 20 minutes for my number to be called. From there the processing proceeded at the same pace. First was passport copy and data entry. Next was blood pressure. After that it was jab time, and with the small needle used I didn't feel a thing. Final step was the 30 minute wait. Tot

@TaaSaparot (Chiang Fai), if you're going to nick photos from the forum, the least you could do is give credit to the forum as your source! https://twitter.com/TaaSaparot/status/1423162156774830084 -

New sign going up on the beach. No idea what they're planning. Only English on the sign showed the beach being divided into zones. -
The lack of alphabetical ordering on nationality is just lazy programming and it's also a sign of a mediocre programmer. I count myself as a decent coder, and one trait I've found common in all the good coders is attention to the small details. It's easy to blow off the sort order as not that big of a deal, but if the coder doesn't do a good job on the simple, easy stuff, they're much more likely to do a piss poor job on the complex stuff too. I think the use of the word "survey" is just a misunderstanding on their part of what that word means in the English language. Chances are goo

Good news! Pattaya News posted about an hour ago Bangkok Pattaya Hospital is taking vaccine registrations for those over 60 or with pre-existing conditions. This isn't like the previous pre-registration where they would notify you when the vaccine becomes available, but an honest to goodness registration where you can pick the date and time for your jab. Edited to add: One catch is you have to have previously been a patient at BPH and have a Hospital Number (Patient Number) to register. Note their nationality drop down isn't in alphabetical order for every country. I found American

LOL, just got an email from my first failed attempt at registering with a link to input my personal info. They must have wrote a quick fix to the code to send out emails to those that got an error message when they attempted to register.

I'm over 60 so I expect it will be AZ, but remain hopeful some of the Pfizer my tax $'s paid for that the US donated and has been allocated to foreign residents will find its way into my arm. If it does happen it's the Chinese crap, I'll pass and wait for until something more effective is available. Other than my age, I'm not in any of the high risk groups, and my nature is to avoid large crowds, so I can afford to wait.

Just tried again and was successful. First step was email address entry. Once that was accepted immediately received an email with a link to a web page for entering Name, DOB, passport, etc. Entered the required info and after submitting the data received a registration success email.

Fraught with problems. Most, including me, have encountered an error after entering their email address. That then leads into another problem with the system. The shitty programmers have designed a system that remembers your email address so if you try again with that address you get the message it's already taken. Then to top it off, the data you enter is visible to anyone and everyone. Amazing Thailand, SNAFU

Last week our neighborhood was informed the tree that was last of the jungle our neighborhood was carved from many years ago was slated for execution today. Not much else going on with the lockdown, so thought I'd capture the old tree's final hours. The reason the tree had to come down is it was getting too big for its britches. The tree was pushing out and cracking the security wall, and it's roots were cracking the wall foundation and steps. Noticed when the trunk was cut into pieces and brought down, there was a scrum by the neighbors, including my lady, to whack off and tak -
Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs
forcebwithu replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It was an enjoyable ride yesterday afternoon. Normally go out midmorning to avoid the heat of the day, but yesterday's cloud cover and the occasional spit of rain was perfect riding weather. As to why the shut down the bike path, it's probably because the bike path is part of the Mabprachan park system and the edict from on high says all parks must be closed. Lazy policy making, IMHO. If I were emperor I'd keep beaches and parks open and instruct my police force to break up and tell any groups of greater than N to move along. I'd also make this the national song. -

Almost three months since the last update. I was worried Huai Chak Nok Reservoir would be closed due to the latest round of Covid restrictions, but luckily that proved not to be the case. Not easy to see in this pic, but on the west end they're building a structure. Don't know what they're doing here. Enlarging the capacity of the reservoir maybe. Perhaps this sign explains the project. -

For those that pre-paid for their Moderna shots, bad news for you. What I don't understand is how the Thai Red Cross and other hospitals can commandeer pre-paid doses. Moderna shots to be allotted Not all people who have booked, and paid for, the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine from private hospitals will get all their shots since an allotment system will apply, according to the chairman of the Private Hospitals Association. Chalerm Harnphanich told Thai media late this week about the need for the allotment, which looks very much like a share subscription. He said the associa

Just received the following email from the US Embassy. Don't understand why it's only a one day advance notice, but it's not the Embassy's doing as the notice is from the Thai govt and the Embassy is only the messenger. Location: Bangkok, Thailand Event: COVID-19 Vaccine Opportunity for U.S. Citizens - July 17, 2021 The Thai Government has informed the U.S. Embassy that it is offering U.S. citizens in Thailand the opportunity to be vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine at 4 p.m. this Sunday July 18, 2021 at SCG Headquarters in Bang Sue area of Bangk

The sign support structure going up for the building on 3rd Rd and Klang. Reception area is taking shape. Large tree about to find a new home too. -
They're advertising it as a survey, not registration. They'll probably use the personal info to contact you when the vaccine becomes available. But they're asking for more personal info than I'm comfortable giving, just so they can contact me.
