  1. Work is progressing slowly on WS. You can't see because of the shadows, but I there was a guy hunched down below the concrete arch as the heavy equipment above was banging away on the concrete cross piece. And here he is, barefoot and barehands, and no hardhat.
  2. Same here. I'm overdue for a visit back to the States, but I'll be damned if I'll jump through the hoops required now to gain re-entry into Thailand.
  3. Not heard of Bovril, and now I know why.
  4. Only seen a couple of these self-service coffee machines scattered around. Seems like it would be a good money maker. Although if you like your coffee with an herbal boost, expect to pay double. The above is on Nern Plub Wan, close to the Chinese temple they started building in 2018.
  5. A thank you video from Phil posted about an hour ago.
  6. Finished binge watching three seasons of Yellowstone. Been putting off watching the series as I didn't think I would enjoy it. Man was I wrong. Great series, with some great views of the Western US. Kind of wishing now I had waited until season 4 was released as the cliffhanger at end of season 3 was one of the best I've seen in a long time.
  7. If you're looking for +++ sizes, this store near the top of Khao Noi is your place to shop.
  8. Looks like it's the final day for the crane onsite.
  9. They're still there, although now filled in. Give it a heavy rain or two and negotiating them on two wheels will once again be a test of your riding skills.
  10. The new food court next to Nirun is going hi-so with decorative concrete. It's a simple process for adding the decorative pattern.
  11. A couple pics of workers removing the crane this morning.
  12. Won't be long now before the building on 3rd Rd and Klang is finished. Waiting for a sign to go up letting us know the purpose of the building.
  13. Just saw a post over on PA the word is Phil has suffered a heart attack. Looking at his FB page his last post on the 15th was "Not afraid". Hope it's not a severe attack and he has a speedy recovery.
  14. Related to the rail project... Pattaya city to move forward with major drainage project intended to fix flooding by Pattaya railway Pattaya City will start a major new five-year project that will have a significant budget with the first phase of construction set for next year to help solve the continual flooding problems along the Eastern Pattaya railway road area, as well as improvements to the South Pattaya drainage system. ... Just another in a long string of public works projects that have only a marginal impact on the flooding problem.
  15. And so it begins... Blame game begins over 'vaccine chaos' Shortage prompts inoculation delays "Several public and private hospitals across the capital, as well as a number of hospitals in the provinces, have postponed vaccination appointments scheduled for this week, saying they have not received enough vaccines from the Public Health Ministry."
  16. Not concerned about when I'll be able to get the vaccine, but understand how those in a high risk category would be. The Thai govt has really screwed the pooch on this.
  17. I though I read a few months back some embassies had requested permission to import vaccines for their citizens and the Thai govt refused to grant permission, or ignored the request outright.
  18. The old Batman Disco is always an interesting site to photograph. Construction progress on the skateboard/recreation area under the 3rd Rd flyover. Once again 3rd Rd is a mess with digging going on to bury utilities. I don't think the Thais will ever catch on to the idea of digging up a road once to bury utilities with enough conduit placed for future use.
  19. Pics of two flood control projects. First set from the road parallel to the railroad. And the big dig on Sukhumvit near Pattaya Tai
  20. Now that work has begun on the high speed rail project linking Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, and the U-Tapao airports, thought it would be good to have a topic to track the construction progress with photos. It'll be interesting to see how the area changes over the coming years. Project Description The Bangkok – Rayong High-Speed Rail features a 1.435-metre standard gauge track with capacity to serve a maximum speed of 250 kilometres per hour. It travels on an elevated route with a 300-metre tunnel portion near Buddha Mountain (Khao Chi Chan) spanning 193.5 kilometres. the rail connects with Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Bang Sue – Rangsit Red Line, and the Bangkok – Hua Hin High-speed Rail, easing traveling between Bangkok and the eastern region of Thailand. The project involves installation of the track, system work and equipment in order to meet the standards of a high-speed railway. https://pipeline.gihub.org/Project/ProjectDetails/856 Latest news report on the start of the project: High speed rail project construction in Chonburi linked to three major airports expected to start this October Photos from this morning of the preliminary road work. View looking north and south from Khao Noi. Hope they have good elevation of the track as this area is the low point between Kha Noi and Khao Talo that floods every heavy rainstorm. And the view looking north and south of Khao Talo.
  21. Soi Pothole is getting another temporary repair. Missed seeing this on yesterday's trek through Tree Town, but they're working again on the structure that has sat unfinished for years.
  22. Installing the glass panes on the building on Naklua/Soi 31.
  23. Another long time Pattaya bar, Buffalo Bar is heading into the dustbin of history. Don't think we can blame it in on the pandemic though as the bar's decline predated the China virus. Construction update on Tree Town's Pattaya Beach Club. Not sure what this hole in the floor will be. Fountain maybe? Never noticed before, but most, if not all the bars on the south facing side of Tree Town have 2nd floor seating.
  24. Current state of the upgrade to the pumping station that was to be finished May 31st, Thai time.
  25. Looks like time has run out for the group of beer bars and shops along Naklua Soi 33. Whatever development is going in there it will take up the entire length of the soi and half the land in between two soi's. If there were more feet on the ground here, this would make for a good post in the where was this taken topic.
