  1. Pics from this morning's ride down to Na Jomtien and back. The new park in Jomtien. Think it's going to be more of a mosquito magnet than anything worth visiting. And a new water park under development near by. And looks like more development planned for the future. Certainly no shortage of water in the area.
  2. First time I've seen the BIB set up shop in a private business. Prom Guesthouse yesterday evening. The cashier at Prom told me they were processing vendor permits for the street carts. They were quite slow about it too. I watched them for close to an hour walking back and forth from the blue cart in the background with various bits of paper. They were still working on that one permit when I left.
  3. If you PM your Thai bank account info I'll throw some money into the pot to help defray some of the forum costs.
  4. When you catch your breath, one of features lost in the upgrade was the back to top of page option. On 247 and PA they have it implemented as an icon in the lower right corner of the page.
  5. @frostfire thank you for the large amount of time and effort you have put in, and just put in to keep this forum up and running. Chances are you encountered the same problems with the upgrade script that PA and then 247 had to deal with during their upgrade. It's to your credit and expertise it took you less than two days to resolve the issues. PA and 247 took much longer. As for the theme, I believe whatever customized theme you had in the old version was lost with the upgrade. And for BM's that are seeing this upgraded version of the forum software for the first time, off the top of my head some key differences are: - no more page post numbers (the software guys at Invision decreed they are too old fashion and don't deserve to be in a modern forum) - The Report, Share and Edit options are now in the upper right corner of a post under the ellipsis. - Under your profile settings you now have Content View Behavior which allows you to change the setting so clicking on a topic title will take you to the latest, unread content in the topic.
  6. They've been working for a couple of years on trying to solve the flooding on the road parallel to the railroad. Last year was digging a deeper channel on the east side of the road and installing more pumps. That hasn't worked, so now they're digging out the ground cover on the other side of the road. And knocking holes in the crash barrier at the low spots to allow the flood water to drain on both sides of the road. And over at the Soi 9 police station, the latest in car accessories on display.
  7. It might be worthwhile to create a new account for the purposes of seeing if it's a bad setting on your existing account that is causing the problem. If after creating the new account you can reply on a topic and send PM's, then that points to a setting issue on your existing account.
  8. Most definitely not bicycle friendly. Posted about them earlier in this topic. The gap in the grates are just barely narrow enough to not trap my mtn bike tire, but would send me over the handlebars if I attempted to ride over the grate with my road bike and its skinny tires. What's odd is they placed extra strips of metal over the grates to prevent that from happening on the section they did last year. Not sure why they haven't done the same on the new section.
  9. Had a look this morning to see how the path along the south Pattaya canal is faring. For the most part the path is clear. Some sections had a bit of overgrowth, but was still passable. Other parts you need to duck low to get through. If the water was cleaner and didn't have the scent of a sewer, the canal would make for a scenic walk. Probably could have pushed my way through this heavy overgrowth, but didn't fancy having to pull thorns and ticks out of, and off my legs to do so. This is the short, upstream section east of the makeshift bridge. I'd be careful driving a vehicle over the underground section of the canal.
  10. whitespider, the owner/admin replied he was aware of the of the duplicate board name, but that isn't the source of the issue. He said this is happening to a lot of people, but there's no pattern and it goes away on its own. Same is happening on other forums using Invision. They've notified Invision of the problem. OP, sounds like you'll have to be patient on this issue. They're working on it, but problems like this that are affecting only some, with no pattern as to why, are the most difficult software problems to resolve.
  11. Wonder if it's because there is a duplicate of your board name on the forum. I'll pass that info on to the admin in case it helps them resolve the problem.
  12. The big crane is back at the Beach Rd pumping station. The big piece of equipment that was removed last Dec has now been repaired and the crane was getting ready to lift it back into place. They better work fast as I'm hearing some thunder rumblings outside now.
  13. It looks like the electric company thinks their mess from tree trimming on Tuesday is someone else's mess to clean up. A cheap shelter for shops on the corner of Soi Love Inn and Arunotai is done. What I thought was going to be a new market near Nirun now looks like a new open air restaurant. Think they're also building a garden greenhouse, which isn't a bad idea for supplying fresh vegetables for the restaurant. The building on 3rd Rd near Klang is now sporting a decorative top. Construction progress at the Sea Side site, which is a bit of a misnomer since it's on Buakhao. And the south Beach Rd pumping station is getting shinny new pumps almost in time for rainy season, which starts today.
  14. I was a little worried when my lady announced a week ago they were going to come today and cut down a beautiful, old tree in our neighborhood (a blackboard or devil tree). Apparently the lady that owns the house across the soi from it complained about the dropped leaves making a mess, plus my lady didn't like the aroma of the flowers when the tree was in bloom. Told them both I thought those weren't very good reasons to cut down the tree. I wasn't too concerned though as they had mentioned it was the electric company that was going to do the chopping, so figured they were going to just trim back the branches that ran into and around the electric lines. And as it turned out, I was right. To the electric company's credit, they did a decent job on the trim. So the tree gets to live on.
  15. Soi Siam Country Club Rd on the south side of Mabprachan Reservoir is getting another lane or two.
  16. Over at Huai Chak Nok Reservoir I'd say there's only a slight improvement over last year (link to last year's post).
  17. Mabprachan Reservoir is looking better than it did this time last year (link to last year's post). Work has started on extension to the park area on the north side of the reservoir. The swim platform for the first time in a long time is floating again. Can barely see the floating pump house with all the high weeds.
  18. Not sure it has anything to do with face, instead I expect we represent a nice profit center for those that control the vaccine. With that in mind, I wasn't surprised to read this news report. Moderna Covid-19 vaccines will be sold directly to Thai government only, says Public Health Minister
  19. On Soi 14 off 3rd Rd, the other side is now getting the enlarge drain openings to undersized drain pipes treatment. And on the opposite of 3rd Rd, the last bit on Soi 21 is getting concreted over this morning.
  20. Another example of a problem area is the low area on the Sukhumvit just north of Pattaya Tai. With any significant amount of rainfall, this is what it looks like. Every time I see them working on the problem, all they seem to do is just make the drain opening larger. A couple of pics of the current WIP. The constraint here is the underground system to drain the water out of the area. I believe what they're limited to is the canal that runs under this soi. So all this work to make the hole in the road larger is for naught if there's no additional capacity to move the water out of the area.
  21. ^^^ I had seen the news report and had it in mind when I used humor to warn the workers I saw this morning working close to the live overhead lines.
  22. Soi 14 off of 3rd Rd is in a low lying area and quickly floods during rainstorms. They're now giving that soi the drain opening enlargement surgery. Unfortunately it doesn't appear they're doing anything to increase the size of the drain pipes, so the storm water will still have no place to go. Even more of a concern is we haven't had rain in the area for the last several days, but the drains are still half full of water that is barely moving. Over on Soi 21 they're working on the last stretch of road resurfacing. The workers had a chuckle when I held up my fist and made a buzzing sound like I was getting electrocuted. And a few pics of the interior work going on at the Climax bar.
  23. First time in a few weeks I've seen them doing any work on WS. New building on 3rd and Klang. The aesthetics of the side facing Klang is better than the 3rd Rd side. Not much happening at the Xzyte Market site. Sure hope whatever concrete sealant they used wears off before the Market opens. Looks like it would be very slippery when wet.
  24. I've rode through WS the last couple of days on my late morning bike rides and have seen no activity.
  25. No restrictions that I'm aware of. There has been quite a lot of work going on around here laying new pipes, so it may have been a disruption of the service while they hooked up the old to the new.
