  1. Good news. Perhaps time for one of the mods to change the topic title to "Reopening"?
  2. A couple of snaps from yesterday of the reinforcement work on the north end point.
  3. Remember years ago performers would get electrocuted if they performed in the rain.
  4. Mine was for an Aerox which is 155cc if that makes a difference. Good to know what the actual cost is, so thanks for the info.
  5. It could also be argued the distance of the arc ahead of his or her nose is quite a bit closer than pictured.
  6. Very close to what Mityon charges. I looked at my receipt and the total was 640B. Happy to pay the 40B extra to save me a long trip out to DLT vs a very short trip to Mityon on the intersection of 3rd Rd and Pattaya Tai.
  7. What is the cost using DLT?
  8. See that all to often and it is scary, Thais pulling out without so much as a glance to oncoming traffic expecting their Buddha amulet to protect them.
  9. And speaking of motorbike thefts...
  10. Google Street View updated their imagery last month (link) and you can see Dynasty Inn is open again.
  11. I see an occasional news report about one or two motorbikes getting nicked. Probably more that don't get reported. You can avoid being one of those statistics if you take simple precautions like using the lock cover and lock the fork when leaving a motorbike parked for an extended period of time. Same with a pedal bike. I always lock mine when I need to leave it unattended. I also keep my bikes inside the house at night. Both to protect them from theft, and to protect them from the elements outside.
  12. I've always dealt with the dealer that I purchased my bikes from, Mityon. Service has been fine, and I don't believe they've ever leveled a surcharge. IIRC, cost is in the neighborhood of 650B. If the bike is 5+ years old, you'll also have to have an inspection done. You do that at any of the inspection stations displaying the white and blue gear symbol. I recently did that for a friend whose bike I was storing. Cost, including registration was 1,020B. I've not tried it, but you could try doing just the registration at the inspection station if your bike is under five years old.
  13. Replying to your post in the Massage topic rather than the GC topic. Here's a list of places I've tried over the years where the massages have been good. Links are to Google Street View of their location. Where I remember I've added the massage lady's name in parenthesis. Most will offer extra attention after a fairly good massage. Buakhao Soi 13, JM Massage (Gan), Malee Massage Pattaya Klang between Beach Rd and 2nd Rd, Lucky Massage (Wan) Soi Xzyte, Relax Massage (Jan) Soi 18 off of 3rd Rd, past the intersection with Soi Bong Koch, Lee Massage (Lee) Also Tum Massage on Buakhao Soi 15 mentioned in this post.
  14. I remember the crumbling walkway from years ago. No idea if they'll rebuild it. Perhaps not since IIRC it's illegal to build any kind of structure beyond the high tide mark. Of course that didn't stop Dusit from building the wall in your pic, and then extend their guest area on top.
  15. Made the trek out to the work site on the north end of the beach this morning. Asked and was granted permission to walk on the work site to snap a few pictures. I'll leave it to another BM to come up with the full translation, but if the 49,600,000 is the budget for the project that seems rather high to me for what looks like throwing down more rocks and possibly covering everything with a layer of concrete.
  16. I always resize my pics to 1600 x 1200 before uploading. Cuts down on the upload time, reduces the server space required to host pictures, and pictures load faster when the file size is reduced.
  17. There is that, but I'm ok with using an agent to avoid the bother of gathering bank statements and any other supporting documents the IO decides they need.
  18. Can't believe it took a year, but finally noticed 3Bz Burritoz at their new location on Bong Koch Soi 3 during yesterday morning's ride. Stopped by again in the evening and had their small, chicken burrito. Quite tasty with plenty of chicken and just the right amount of Mexican spicy flavor. The owner Mickey and his wife Ploy. Both quite outgoing and easy conversationalist. Good article about the place from last year. Pattaya Survivors: Big Beautiful Burritoz or 3Bz Burritoz
  19. This post explains the travel restrictions for the expat health insurance policy I have.
  20. They've done a good job turning Soi 15 into a good mtn bike track. Also good to see they've selected the very large version of drain pipes. Allows more room for the collection of sand and other road construction debris.
  21. An article last year (link) talked about a new cannabis farm off of 331, about 50 minutes drive from Pattaya (map link). As chance would have it the trail for yesterday's PH3 hash run went past the place, so took the opportunity to snap a few pics. It's in a good location, and as you'll see in the pics below some fantastic views from the high ground (pun intended), but alas no signs of cannabis farming yet. And it doesn't look like the place is ready for camping. Once they've completed the landscaping and building out of the structures I expect it'll be a popular place. Too bad for us as it used to have some great trails through jungle that has now been clear cut.

  22. Nam's Taxi has gotten quite a few good reviews, and deservedly so. She has a topic dedicated to her service.
