  1. Touch up work on the beach. Soi 15 progress report Pedestrian and those on two wheels path to get through the construction site. Traffic jam on Soi 15 at the entrance to The Grand and Centara. Closer to the Buakhao end a noise maker at work on a side soi off Soi 15.
  2. They're back... the all too familiar orange construction barriers for the Beach Rd project to add a lane on the north end.
  3. Seeing how slow the public works projects take here, I wouldn't go that far. It's also questionable how long the drains will remain effective given the amount of garbage and road debris that gets dumped into them.
  4. Once it stops raining the flood waters will drain away within an hour or two. Quite a difference from several years ago. The drainage work they've been working on the last couple of years is having a positive effect on removing the water quickly.
  5. Good view of the current flooding around Billabong via I-Rovers live cam. https://i-rovers.com/cam-sports-schedule/
  6. Construction update on the new market next to Nirun. They've started clearing another plot of land ahead of construction. Looks like this area will be covered market stalls. Not looking forward to the traffic congestion that is bound to happen due to the narrow road and inadequate space for parking.
  7. Forget which forum, but a BM posted he thought he was getting 1 story. Which he did, but the 1 story was several meters off the ground. Not a bad idea if the area is prone to flooding. Could that be what the tall girders are for?
  8. Because I always keep my Kindle in airplane mode to avoid software updates, I download my Kindle purchases and then copy the file via USB to my Kindle. Never a problem doing it this way. You'll find the option to download under Contents & Devices, Digital Content. Once downloaded, copy the azw3 file to the documents folder on the Kindle. BTW, just finished reading the books E.E. Borton wrote. A good read if you're into his type of book.
  9. Noticed the other day, farther down on Klang they were once again ripping up a large section of the street. Amazing Thailand how often they tear up a street that was recently paved.
  10. Excellent photo essay. TFP!
  11. A day later and Soi 15 is barricaded to all but foot traffic east of the Grand entrance. The Grand entrance is still accessible on the west side of the construction. You can get to Buakhao from Soi 15 via Soi Piss to Soi Dianna, or via the road to ko ko tel.
  12. Soi 15 still open all the way through to vehicle traffic as of this morning.
  13. The answer to that question is probably in brown envelopes.
  14. They've started on breaking up the concrete east of the Grand entrance on Soi 15. Looks like Grand residents will still have vehicle access as one lane is now open west of the entrance.
  15. Not sure what's so special about the soi I live on, but happy to see the workers out removing unused utility lines this morning.
  16. The overhead lines as well as the utility poles are coming down on Klang.
  17. Wonder how the powers that be decided Naklua Soi 18 was deserving of the embedded pavement lights, centerline as well as gutter lights no less! Some one has baht to burn.
  18. The new road surface on WS came through unscathed too. Soi 16 canal waters were running fast. One section of the footpath has been taken over by the jungle.
  19. A photo survey of the damage to the beach after last night's storm. Across from Soi 5 repairs underway. Surprisingly south of Klang I saw no beach erosion. Across from the Soi 13's in the past had some of the worst erosion. Today nothing.
  20. Took a ride down Beach Rd and found the beach showing no signs of damage after last night's heavy and persistent rains. Quite an improvement from years past. Good thing too as it would have been embarrassing to have the Pattaya Beach Games with the beach washed away.
  21. The BIB are going to make a mint starting Monday on those caught riding without a helmet. Traffic fines see a hefty price spike on Monday

  22. Noticed the work they were doing as well, but didn't catch on to what they were doing until I saw the lights switched on last night. The white markings are the concrete dust from where they cut out an opening for placing the light. Noticed on my bike ride this morning they're doing the same on Soi Nurn Plub Wan. From what I've seen in the west, those lights don't hold up well to traffic running over them. So expect they'll be failing in a month or two. Outside of airport taxi ways and runways, I've never seen them used on long, straight stretches of road. They're most effective on relatively dark roads where there's a bend in the road that has had a high case of accidents. Seems about as pointless as all the arrows they're painting on the road.
  23. This morning they were working on shoring up the leaning utility pole on Soi 15. Meanwhile over on Pattaya Klang they've started the removal of the overhead power lines. Last night I noticed the centerline on 3rd Rd lit up with flashing lights. Seems rather pointless since 3rd Rd is well lit at night. Wonder who's pocket benefited from this latest public works project.
  24. Another section would be "Do not look before making a turn".
  25. Traffic on 2nd Rd was backed up quite a bit because of this dickhead. I hung around to see if the concrete basin would fit.
