The drainage project and beach pics after the early morning storms. Surprised they still haven't cleaned out the sand from the north end catch basin. The longer they wait, the more the sand will get washed farther into the drains and the harder it will be to clean it out. Beach is still in good shape. The usual spots prone to flooding and beach washouts look none the worse after this morning's storms. Probably more to do with lack of heavy rain than the new drains doing their job. The new structure at the south end

The screw keeps on turning... extensions of stay!.
forcebwithu replied to jacko's topic in Expat Issues
30k for an agent is a bit high. Maneerat on Soi P.O. will get you sorted for 21k for the Non O. Extensions cost 12.5k. Like you I didn't want, or need the hassles of jumping through the new financial hoops. So after 9 years of doing the extension to stay myself, I used an agent, Maneerat, for the first time on my last extension. -
Bike Paths & Routes Around Pattaya
forcebwithu replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
For those interested in a bit of off road riding, there are some nice paths around Mabprachan Reservoir on the west and north sides. The screenshot below are tracks from various rides I've made over the years around the reservoir. The area parallel to the dam is primarily eucalyptus trees with trails that are hard packed and easy to negotiate. While the area on the north side of the reservoir is a good mix of service roads, hard packed trail, and narrow single track. -

This month's update on the Mabprachan Reservoir. Weeds are higher Water level unchanged Weeds now poking up in the shallow areas Pumps are gone A few dead tree pics The spring fed stream is still flowing Used to be able to ride the bike across the lake bed at this point. Need a machete now to get through. There are some nice, quiet, scenic shady spots on the trails around the reservoir. A sea of green -

Pics of some of the construction and destruction projects around Pattaya. Watched these guys climbing from one balcony to the next. Happy when they succeeded as I didn't want the job of first responder. -

In no particular order, random shots from around Pattaya from late this morning before the dark clouds moved in. Odd they have a mini-bridge a few meters from its big brother. -
Today's photo update of the Beach Rd drainage project. Hard to see in this pic, but the catch basin is still almost 3/4 full of water, so they've not yet cleaned it out. I would have thought it would be easier to clean the muck out before they completed the concrete enclosure. First time I've seen them make an effort to sort the paving stones by color. Looks good when they match to the existing pavers. Not so good when they don't. Wonder what numbnut thought it was a good idea to spray paint a marker on the pavers.

Had to look that up. I believe you are correct. In construction, blinding is a base layer of weak concrete or sand that is laid above a layer of hardcore to provide a clean, level and dry working surface. A thin layer, usually around 50 mm (2 inches) thick, of blinding is poured over the hardcore, sealing in the underlying material and levelling off the surface.

Noticed on another board a pic of the curb laying where it looked like they had stopped using concrete for the bed and were placing the blocks directly on the sand. My curiosity piqued I went out this morning to snap a few pics of the current work. Turns out they still are putting a layer of concrete down first. But now the question is, is concrete like hair gel, a little dab'll do ya.

The Tues/Fri Buakhao market is back. Quite the selection of colors at the Soi Xzyte car rental place. -
The drain project is almost finished at the north end. Standing water at the Soi 6 junction. Bad doggy South end still has a lot of form work going on. The rebar goes quite high. Maybe housing for permanent pumps?

What I thought was going to be a music stage I was told today will be a new market for the Soi Xcite grounds. Marking and digging out fence post holes for whatever is getting built next to Pirates on Soi Full Love Inn. A few shots of the ongoing work at the Edge. -
Update on the Beach Rd drainage project from this morning. Still working on the "drainage" part of the project. Think this is a power washer rig for cleaning the smaller drains. A couple of side projects going on

Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs

Just one good two or three day monsoon downpour will be enough to fill the reservoirs here. See the post linked below from 2015. -
You won't have to renew until after the state of emergency in Thailand is lifted. No new driver’s license until Emergency Decree ends Those with an expired driver’s license from 2 January 2020 to the date when the emergency decree ends will have an extension as long as Thailand is still in an emergency state. The DLT has notified the Royal Thai Police and the Office of Insurance Commission to allow those with an expired driver’s license since 2 January 2020 to continue driving on the road. The Insurance Commission will make sure that those with insurance will be able to claim the cos

Today's update is of the Huai Chak Nok Reservoir. Small recreational pond that's dammed off from the rest of the reservoir is lower. And the reservoir itself is a lot lower. Comparison shot from one month ago on 13 April. The spirits patiently awaiting the return of the water. -

Tree Town before and after sunset last night. Cashier at Prom Guest House said the owner of the property fronting the tents was renting out the tent space. Kind of cheeky of the owner to be collecting rent on what I believe is a public footpath.
