Pictures from around Pattaya

I can't say I've noticed any more than usual riding the wrong way. I'm pretty conditioned to accepting it as normal, and in fact see it as a expedient way of getting to a destination that is closer to get to by riding against traffic. That of course only applies to those on two wheels, or two feet. Where I do take exception is if they expect me to give way, or even honk at me to move out of the way; which has happened and they get a verbal response that is in proportion to their stupidity. What I have noticed is quite a few more out on bicycles, which is encouraging to see. -

It is, and it's been closed even before the pandemic hit. Before it was closed I think there was a change in owners as it seemed to cater to Thais. Stopped in probably about a year ago and while promptly served a drink was ignored for the remainder of my stay, even though I was the only customer. Figured I wasn't the customer base they were looking for, which was fine as there were plenty of other bars to choose from. Or rather, there used to be. -
Today's update on the Beach Rd drainage project. This is what happens when you employ the color blind for footpath repairs.

A few random shots from around Pattaya this morning. On today's bike ride I came across bars on the corner of Nakula & Soi 33 getting set up for distributing free food. The blue line in the screenshot below shows the start and end point of the line when I passed by. The line is 1/2 km long! Didn't take any pics as I feel it's a bit degrading to take pics of people in need. -
Don't fire suppression systems have heat sensors to trigger their release? That being the case, then it wouldn't be hard for a person to use a heat source to trigger the system.

Wonder if the Soi Excite fairground is getting a permanent stage for live music concerts. At least this one will be facing south. The previous stage was facing east towards where I live. On concert nights I had no trouble hearing the volume 11 music from a little over a 1km away. Those to the south of Soi Excite, you're now the lucky ones. [/url -
North end terminus of the Beach Rd drain had a small volume of water coming in. Not sure where it was coming from, but what it did highlight is how plugged up the drains currently are. For the small amount of water coming in it should barely cover the bottom of the basin before draining away, not fill the basin 3/4 full of water. Next open basin the water was barely moving. I wonder how far down the drain the construction debris extends, and to what depth. Not sure what they're working on down in the hole, but whatever they're doing they've b

Think it was supposed to be finished by February 13th, what year jokes aside. I can understand the delay though with the amount of tourists and traffic in Pattaya now. Hard to finish a roadworks project in this environment, at least for the Thais.

North end of Beach Rd was blocked for a short time this morning while they did a bit of tree trimming. Putting in rebar for the final section of storm drain. Drain pipe is now more than half full of sand. Making the beach look nice for all the tourists in town. Cleaning out the sand from the Soi 6 catch basin. Honest, I only stopped here to take a pic of the footpath repairs. I had speculated they would pour a single concrete cap that would cover the entire catch basin. Looks like I was wrong and they're doing it in

The vacant land next to Pirates on Soi Full Love Inn is being cleared. Prep work for new construction maybe? Noticed too the Full Love Inn is once again open for business. As are the ST rooms off of Soi Bongkoch. -

Some shots of the new building on 3rd Rd near Klang. -
Today's Beach Rd drainage project update. Nice we can once again walk on the beach footpath without getting hassled by the BIB. New curbs are now north of Klang. I hadn't noticed this before. The electric cable snake. Starts out above ground at a junction box. Then dives underground for a short distance. Then pops back up here. Then disappears into this mess. South end is almost ready the concrete truck.

Something new is going up on the empty land next to Soi Excite. Maybe a clone of Tree Town? Whatever it is that's going up, it's using some hefty I beams. -
Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs

The Eastern Water Resources Dept released their 24 April weekly water situation report (link). This chart shows only a small decrease of .8 MCM from the previous week. The chart below however reports a decrease of 9.69 MCM which doesn't not match the week to week numbers in the above chart. In the end it probably doesn't matter as the result is the same, the reservoirs are out of usable water. -
Recent rains have had no positive effect on the reservoir level. It'll take at least a day of heavy, constant monsoon rains to begin to refill the reservoir.

The beer bars and boxing ring just before the WS entrance are no more. Edited to add: I see in another post the area is being remodeled. But the other one farther up WS looks safe for now. -
Won't be long now before the north end of Beach Rd is concreted over, and hopefully the last bits of drains connected. Hope someone notices the north end catch basin is almost full of sand before they close it up. Connecting the drains at the Soi 6 junction. This guy has found a nice cool spot to sleep the day away. Southend is about finished too.

Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs

We had a bit of rain the last few days, so let's see what effect, if any it had on the Mabprachan Puddle. In a nutshell, no effect. And if anything, the level is lower than the last update on the 16th. This pump is new since the last update. But it wasn't running this morning. When I made my way over to the pumping station I was a surprised to hear the pumps running. But looking at the channel feeding the pumps I could see no movement of water, nor could I feel water moving through the big pipes exiting the pumps. My guess is -

Another option is installing a print screen app. Advantage of the app is it gives you more control over what part of the screen you capture, and it'll save the screenshot to a file as well as the clipboard. The one I've been using for years is Gadwin PrintScreen. https://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/ -
And why when I hear news reports in Thai my ears pick up on the news reporter saying Covid 19 most of the time and not Covid sip gao.

Another article about what we've known about for months. I don't understand why there is no mention in the article they have stopped pumping from Mabprachan since about 15 April? Pattaya Water Authority says Mapprachan Lake Reservoir now at critical level but will continue to ration water
