The rate on the street.

Sod's Law! ... I transferred my holiday money to KBank on Friday and got low 40. something .... ? -
I've been using Mr T for the past few years ... and the drivers have always been reliable .... BUT .... after recent ... and yesterday's drive back to Pattaya from the airport ... which was scary shit! ... I think it's time for a change! I've finally figured out that the "Amazing" in "Amazing Thailand" .... is that it's foookin AMAZING that these stupid foookin drivers don't crash more! It never fails to startle when they accelerate up to 120km/h or more ... to within a meter or two of the car in front ... which is too big for them to see past! For a few baht more .... I don't thin

I only realised that my IDP had expired last week ..... I couldn't be arsed to go to my nearest Crown Post Office ... so sent an application to RAC. I sent Wednesday ... and got in the post today ... so only took a week. Cost £8 ... compared to the PO's £5.50 ... but it would have cost me more than the difference in petrol and parking! Spud

Thai Airways 777-300 - IFE Box Locations
CyberSpud replied to CyberSpud's topic in Airline Discussion
Hi Unfortunately ..... back in the UK now .... where it's cold and pissing it with rain right now .... With the Thai 777-300 ..... I sat in row F ..... which is the RHS centre isle seat .... same as EVA row G ..... and all clear of IFE boxes. Looking at the other rows I didn't spot any boxes .... but didn't look that close .... so don't take that as gospel ..... Went up to Chaing Mai and the flight there and back was on an older Thai 777-200 .... and they had the big boxes in the same places as EVA ...... Spud -
My last trip ... I ended up booking through West East Travel because they had a deal with EVA doing 30kg with economy tickets. It cost me £12 more than going through the normal Opodo, etc ..... but worth it for the extra 10Kg ..... weight never a problem going out ... but always (well) over 20Kg coming back! So always worth checking prices with them too .... Spud

Thai Airways 777-300 - IFE Box Locations
CyberSpud replied to CyberSpud's topic in Airline Discussion
Thanks Gus I haven't found anything on the net specific to Thai 777 .... but looking at other airlines .... it seems to always be the right hand centre isle seat that doesn't have it ... like EVA .... so I've reserved that for the moment before it fills up! .... will find out for sure in 7 weeks! CyberSpud replied to CyberSpud's topic in Airline Discussion
Thanks ..... but ..... ..... the midday flight is an A380 ..... and the evening flight a 777 ..... and like I said ..... Seat Guru seems to be a bit crap these days! Spud -
Hi I normally fly EVA ... but have just booked a £470 Thai flight, from London, for December. Please can anyone tell me which seats have the IFE box ... so I can avoid ? Seat Guru seems to be a bit crap these days! Spud

Hi Cheers guys .... Oman did show up on both Kayak or Skyscanner ... but they are £800ish for my dates! I was going to go for Cathay over Etihad as they have 3-3-3 rather than 3-4-3 seating, which a lot of reviews say is cramped ... and I would think that jamming an extra seat in it would be! Also because of the long flight, as I like to sleep for as much of the flight as possible, and I think that I would have trouble getting back to sleep after a stopover on a half way/half way flight. If I could have got the cheap Cathay flight ... I would have had it. One of the things t

Hi Thanks for the replies .... .... I've farted about tonight trying to decide which to go for, and whether the saving was worth the extra hours each way .... by the time I decided to go for the £444 Cathay flight .... the bloody Cathay sale has finished! Which is a bit annoying as Travelbag, who had that fare, advertised that the sale was on for a couiple more days . Spud

Hi Just got my next leave approved by my boss, so about to book flight. I won't be flying Eva non-stop this trip as can save about £140 by flying either Cathay Pacific or Etihad, as both have cheap fares at the moment, for my dates. I would prefer to fly Cathay, as I think a better airline (??), but it adds another 3hr flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok. From your experience ... which airline would you choose? Do both have 3-3-3 in economy? Spud

Markland Hotel on Soi1: any recent reviews?
CyberSpud replied to TF_Heinz's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi These days I stay at the Summer Spring hotel opposite the Markland on Soi 1. Nice big rooms with good quality bed and sofa for B1390 with member card ... which I assume you have if you stay at Sandy. Nice rooftop pool as well. Normally stay in a room at the back ... but this current trip, as still working on, I think new Holiday Inn tower, at the back ... manged to get front corner room (#410), which has sea view and good breeze, although gets the sun a bit. Picture of view below. Spud -

Hi I saw 50.05 baht to the UK poond tonight, for cash exchange. TT was at 49.95 ... then saw a 50 ... and then a 50.05 at corner of soi post office/beach road. Sod's law ... I changed the last of my cash on Friday .... didn't think it would hit 50! Spud -
Cheers DrPat .... Clarity card sounds good! Will definately apply again when I get home, and if they give me one I can get rid of the Flexaccount. Spud

I applied for a Halifax Clarity card before ... but got rejected ... might try again when I get home. There are no charges .... but you get charged interest for cash advances until they are paid off ... don't you? Spud
