  1. A/P is airport. The 1000 baht is just for Patts to Suvarnabhumi airport. If going Patts to Bangkok city or Don Muang airport, price is 1200 baht. Spud Wheels up in 8 days!
  2. Cheers They must have dropped it. There used to be a small sign in the room and the only ashtray was a small heavy brass thing out on the balcony. I must admit that the time I stayed there, I ignored it and smoked in the room. It's fair enough places being non smoking, but they should tell you things like that before you check in! Spud
  3. Cheers zaphod, I might give them a try again for a few days. They had a good internet connection as well, last time I was there. Are they still saying no smoking in the rooms? Spud
  4. Cheers dd I think I'll stick to one of the other hotels on the soi for the first couple of nights, and have a look at a room myself. Old bedding and musty smelling sounds a bit grim for a place thats just opened! Whitehouse is nice, it's just the temp variability of the water in the shower that turned me off the first time I stayed there. Spud
  5. I understand that the new wing is now open. Has anyone stayed there yet, or have any details of rates? Spud Wheels up in 20 days!
  6. http://www.dynastyinn.com/ Click on Dynasty Inn Grande logo for photo gallery. It is a great hotel. Spud
  7. Cheers for the update Pug. Have fun Spud
  8. I've been meaning to ask the same thing. When I was last over in early November, it looked like they had finished all the main construction and were working on the rooms. That was 4 months ago, and despite being Thailand, they should have got a fair ways on by now? Can anyone please give us an update? Cheers Spud
  9. Hi I agree with cowboy, the Dynasty Grande on Suk Soi 6 is great. Paid 1800 in May, as this was opening rate. In November had to pay something like 2100. Rooms are fantastic. Good bed and quality linen. Good TV, plenty of channels, bathroom has seperate shower and bath, in room safe, the room was big, and you get wired broadband! Service is good also. The only fault, in my opinion, is the walls are thin, which is a shame, but bearable for the great room. I would never normally pay this price for a room, but I think it's worth it for what you get, and this place
  10. Hi Got an e-mail from BA today about their current world offers. They are saying Bangkok fron 469 for May June. I didn't go through to see if actually available. Airline network are doing Thai for 476 for the dates I tried May/June, yesturday. What with airport tax being added for both ends, I'm thinking this might be as low as they go (?). Will hopefully be able to confirm my dates and book soon Spud
  11. I had a look at that Qatar deal on another site and found that they had a few days going out, but there were no available return flights! Spud
  12. Hi guys I stayed at the Whitehouse earlier in the year and the thing that put me off staying there again this month was the shower, the water would constantly go hot and cold. Apart from that I thought it was great. Was the shower like this in your rooms too, or was it just down to the room I had? Cheers Spud
  13. Shower enclosure at Whitehouse is great, but the time I stayed there the shower was crap! Low pressure and kept going hot and cold. Powered by water heater. I could live with the lowish pressure, but the temp change is bloody dangerous! You could be washing your dick and a second later, burning the head off! The temp was that changable! I like the hotel, but I wouldn't book this trip because of the shower. I have heard other people comment on this, but don't know if it's a problem with all rooms, or not, as other reveiews don't mention it at all. Spud
  14. Cheers Scumbag, I read that and forgot about it....memory like a sieve! Can anyone who has travelled with them recently please answer? I used Mr Toom last trip, but thought if lostinspace was the same price, I'd give them a go this trip. Spud Wheels up in 17 days
  15. Hi Whats the current price from the new airport to Pattaya? Cheers Spud
  16. I had to wait to get my leave approved at work, so have only just booked. At West East, last week they had a load of into Bangkok at 6am/back to London 6am flights for the days I was thinking of, but today I couldn't find one at the cheap rate, just the into/back early evening flights. Found one, and booked, with Airline Network at £440, but had to have a Monday return. Didn't mind paying a couple of quid more for the better timings, and the Monday return gives me another day in LOS Roll on October 28th!
  17. Hi I normally stay at the Suriwongse Hotel. You can't beat the location, it's on the corner next to the N Bazaar. It's an oldish hotel, but the rooms are big. The air con is adequate, but just about, but like I say, I stay there for the location. I was there a month ago, for a week, and paid B1069 a night for a Superior Double, including B/F. I booked through http://www.thaihoteldiscounts.com/, who I would recommend. Have fun!
  18. When I flew from LOS to Sydney a few years back, the customs guy came and got me from passport control! I was on me tod and had a passport full of SE Asia visas, but was suprised that I was grabbed at passport control. Searched all luggage thoroughly, but luckily no touch me toes.....as if I could with this gut!
  19. I stayed at the SS at the end of May, beginning of June. I wasn't sure what soi 13 hotel to go for, as there is now a bit more of a choice, so didn't book ahead. I opted for the SS as I thought it would be nice to have a sea view room for my first few night in LOS and it says on the web site that the rooms have internet connection. I arrived about 9am and they were pretty full. If I waited til 12, someone was checking out of a deluxe seaview room, but it had twin beds. Otherwise no deluxe seaviews available. So I opted for the standard room at B1200. As other people have
  20. Thanks for the info jimmac & Samsonite Cheers CyberSpud
  21. Hi jimmac I'll be out in 10 days and I'm thinking of staying at the SS. Is it very full at the moment? What sort of rate did you get, and was it walk in or pre-booked? I'm thinking of a Deluxe Sea View room, as it would be nice to look out to the sea. Just wondering if they're half empty and doing good rates at the moment. Have fun CyberSpud
  22. Thanks for your opinions EnglishPaul. The showers in the Whitehouse look great, but I do like a bath, so that's probably enough to rule this one out for me. But they do get a plus for in-room ADSL. The sign about only smoking on the balcony......LOL! and a three digit safe code...even a bladdered farang could sort that out in a couple of minutes, so for a savvy BG...seconds! The wood panelling in the Dynasty looks good, just like the DI in Bangkok that I've stayed at before. Out of interest, as you tried all of these out, have you stayed at the AA Residence also and if so, how do
  23. Hi EnglishPaul I've only stayed at the old Lek many years ago, before the new wing was built. Stopped staying there once the AA opened. I'll be back in May, the first time for 3 years, and like to stay around soi 13. As you have stayed at all 3 recently, how would you rate the Lek's new wing against the Dynasty Inn and Whitehouse Condotel? Cheers CyberSpud
  24. Thanks Emil and Dingo. Would appreciate any future updates if your passing in the next couple of months. Cheers CyberSpud
  25. I had no problem with Expedia, I booked a London to Bangkok on Thai for the end of May at £414. I booked online late Thursday night, the booking was confirmed when I paid, and the tickets arrived Saturday morning! Excellent service. They had Eva at the same price, or a quid or two different, but prefer Thai timings. I was going to book with Airline Ticket Network as they quoted £410, but as I filled in my details, etc, the price went up to £417! I was still going to go for it as it was only £3 more than Expedia and you got an electronic ticket, but as I went to pay, they wanted
