Penthouse Flat is the biggest room, it has a balcony,DVD player, big bathroom, in room safe and a fan above the bed {king sized bed}. The place is very clean and the food is great. Bert also has safety deposit boxes at the bar and a pickup service for those in need of a ride to Pattaya {1,500 Baht}. The AC worked great and I never had any problems. The owner {Bert} is really hands on and will take good care of you.. http://www.queenvictoria-inn.com/rooms.htm

EASTINY PLACE HOTEL PAYMENT!
Greg_B replied to stiffler's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Crackpot is correct, it is illegal in the USA, but not in many other parts of the world... It's done at all the Gold Shops in Thailand and they do tell you upfront... I did have it tried on me , when I bought something on E-Bay and I REFUSED to pay the surcharge. -

Asian Package Hotel, Avoid, Why?
Greg_B replied to BigDUSA's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Big Dude.. Ever get caught in the middle, when the tour group is coming through..? Most of them have there blinders on and don't really care that your standing right there.. I was recently "trying" to get something to eat at the mall, when a tour group came through, forget that I was standing there, patiently waiting my "turn" to order. They just disregard manners and "ease" there way in front of you. It did piss me off, but TIT and I just went to another place to get something else. Dealing with that on a daily basis, could make your hotel rather unpleasent.. [ -
Nice discount of 40%, then they take 17% back in surcharges...Looks nice, but I tried an email for my Sept. trip and it came back to me....So I guess it's no use...

I did the Koh Samui flight from Pattaya {UTP} in Feb 2004 , it was on an AR72 {prop}. Very nice aircraft, quite and very clean. Srevice was fantastic....! The flight continues on to Phuket from Koh Samui I paid about 5400 Baht for the RT via the website of Bangkok Airways.. The airport in Pattaya {UTP}, is not an easy one to get to...Going to be a 500 Baht ride...It will take 20 to 30 mins to get there and when returning expect to pay 700 Baht for a taxi back to Pattaya. No airport user fee was charged, but I know Koh Samui charges 400 baht/person

Returning to Penthouse - Quick Questions
Greg_B replied to G's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Penthouse room is the same as a "flat"...There is a high % of "no-shows", stay in touch with Bert and see what he can do. Remember to take your room key, if you plan to be out after midnight. The place closes and you must use the fire escape to get in. Actually, it the best way to get in/out of the place anyway. Bert is a very good owner, with a good personality {unlike Stephan of the Haven Hotel} The place has a great English Pub and it's usually full of customers. KJ Vegas turned me on to this place and I'm very happy with it. Didn't try the Pool Pass to the Hard Rock, but it is av -
Returning to Penthouse - Quick Questions
Greg_B replied to G's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Chip... On the subject of the Queen Vic, ask Bert {owner} if he can get you into a "flat"...They are spacious and very clean.. I really liked those rooms for the price and Bert is a very gracious host... -
Lek Hotel has a price of 750 Baht for the old rooms and 1200 baht for the new rooms, I stopped by there in Feb 2004 to check. The pool is very nice, but for 1200 Baht, you could do better. Go across the street and the Apex wants 450 baht and there pool is acceptable So many places to choose from, it's up to you and what you want in a room.

Thatch Roof, open air terminals with free internet service and Bangkok Airways provides a snack bar with limited items {free}. It has a currency exchange like any other airport with an ATM also. Once you go there you will understand what we are saying...

Pieman.. The Off Topic Section did NOT serve it's purpose and at the end there was a security problem from what I understand. I'd rather see that section closed, than have Pete go to an extreme measure {as he did in the past} and close the entire board down... A breach of security could be a disaster and Pete's options would then be limited as to how to contain it. Your solution is an easy one and yes it could be done.
