I'm Pro-ID Check, just for my safety concerns....You can be a rookie or a veteran and still get drugged and stolen from.. For my hotel to have concerns is just another good reason to stay there... The RG is a good place to stay, I like the bigger room, that does allow me/her some "privacy"..I usually get up early and go out on the balcony or watch TV. She can sleep in, as I shut the door and keep the noise level down...That's hard to do in a one-room hotel... I do like other places as well and I don't usually stay at the same location each visit...But Pete and Ib have gotten us a very nice deal at the RG and it is appreciated by many

It seems the West Coast flights are somewhat being meshed with there codeshare partner, USAirways, I know there operations are being moved together in 2004 on the West Coast..They seem to be stopping on the coast and getting transfer passengers from this codeshare.. That's good for me and BigDUSA as we are in the heart of USAirways territory, but not so good for others... There Asian prices have not been discounted too much this year, I'm surprised at that...

It's a practice called "Market Timing" and is usually done within a 401k If you have a Mutual Fund in your 401k, that is an Intl Equity Fund {such as one from Putnam}, you can "time the market...But it's not as easy as it sounds...Not a "slam dunk" by any means and is a risk.. I did this practice about 4 years ago and yes I got "lucky" and made about $25k for my 401k. I would buy and sell within the fund as it went up and down...But, since that time the Asian Markets have been in a stalemate and have lost a lot of value.. It was a thing of pure luck when I did it and I don't expect it to happen anytime soon...But I'm watching... You must be aware of the top holdings of your fund, mine is Vodaphone, which is not Asian based. It takes patience and isn't as easy as it sounds

I'd go to the members Section and try to IM a member...Hilly currently lives in Thailand and could answer your question

I have noticed a mini van serice down by the taxi stand...If there is a total of three going, the price is divided by 3, the cost is minimal.... Enjoy your trip...Welcome to Pussy Heaven

bkkbob...Your very correct about the RG, it's a great place to stay in Pattaya....The BBQ is way above average for me...I really enjoy it alot..
-
I'll IM you with another possible one...

Clark...Make a courtesy reservation at some hotel. Don't really worry about where everything is at, the Baht Bus system can get you anywhere in a short period of time {as you will find out}. Flipper is a good one, just don't barfine the girls from that area..As you will find out after you walk by them with another TG...You'll learn to never walk the same way back to the hotel, once you've done that... Any hotel in the Soi7 & 9 area is a good start for a first timer...
-
Vox...Made my picks already...You can't pick any games after the 25th of Dec, that is lockout day...There are 5 games before the lockout day you must "score".......

Gotta stay that last bight in Bangkok....Easier to get to the airport from a hotel in Bangkok...I just don't want to risk a mechanical failure on the road amd miss that flight...

ESPN is doing a College Football Bowl Predictions website again this year....It's a hard challenge and I'll enlose the rules link... Link to access the site: http://espn.go.com/ {Click on the Fantasy tab near the top to get to the website} How to play the game: http://games.espn.go.com/content/bowlmania...?page=howtoplay You first must register with ESPN and establish a name & password Our league is a private one and you'll need the name and password to join League Name : FLB Password : Barfine This is at NO cost to you to play, just thought some may want to get in and for those "diehard" college fans, maybe a side wager...?

Jimmy...There is an "after effect" from Chinese New Year...Doing this from memory of my last trip, it seemed things started to "slow-down" just before Valentines Day. Yes, there are some good parties on Valentines Day and I think it is a Saturday this year {2-14-2004}..? Good points in your post Crackpot....Some people can't look into the future and see what they could possibly have...It's all about NOW....

Well...I've got a 2 and 1/2 hour layover in NRT and you've just convinced me as to what I'll be doing with some of my time...A Nice HOT shower...
-
Ib asked me for a deposit on my last trip....I sent him a fax and never had a problem...He did charge my CC on the next billing cycle and had the copy of the reciept upon my arrival... I was told the "No-Show" rate was getting high and he wanted the confirmation....Understand the problem from his viewpoint....

I've stayed there a couple of times and really enjoyed myself... The girls at the front desk are excellent and are a pleasure to deal with... The pool is outstanding and has a great place to eat along side it... The rooms are okay, not outstanding...There are no phones or clocks in the room and at times it does get a little noisey. But the view from your room is fantastic and I really enjoyed sitting out there at night with a TG. They will check ID's at times and are aware of who is in the room with you...Just for your safety... Safety deposit boxes are available at the front desk.. Location wise its a good spot ......You may have to ask for some chairs for the balcony, they will supply you with some... Owned by a Frenchman and has alot of regular customers. I'll send you a message about another possible location that you may be interested in....About 1/2 the price but no pool.

Ramster...For some reason this year, the Asian fares haven't really been on "sale"...As opposed to the European fares..If the price is good...TAKE IT....

AA Pattaya Residence - Any Good ??
Greg_B replied to stoace's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Oppps...Sorry guys, I was refering to the AA Hotel...I stand corrected.... -
Getting a Baht Bus won't be a problem for you... Get off around the VC Hotel and cut through around Tony's and your on Walking St. Or get off at the Diamond Beach sign and cut through...Easy to do after one time... The Hotel is in a good location and there are alot of places to eat and buy stuff for your needs...Get an Ocean view room if you can...

AA Pattaya Residence - Any Good ??
Greg_B replied to stoace's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Not a bad location, but as late there seems to be some "problems" with the place...CC Scam and the rooms are really getting old....The Haven Hotel is right behind the AA and it's not a bad one to stay at.... -
For those of you looking for that last minute hotel, I've found a website that may help you....I've added it to the links under Pattaya Hotels....Some prices are too bad for those in need of that last minute room...

Can I get your bag out of a 747 "pod" and put it on another flight...? First, you have to tell someone , who then has to call or send a message to another area, who in turn has to notify someone else to look for your bag... They may take it to the local claim area, it depends on there policy... Actually, it probably won't happen , I'm just being honest with you...

Finally got those tickets bought for Pattaya to Koh Samui. I was amazed the the price is nearly 1,000 Baht less than BKK to Koh Samui Is there a departure tax in Koh Samui for the airport fees..?
-
ff....I got CLT-MSP-NRT-BKK for .....$706.90 and that's a Jan 2004 trip...What a difference in price...? Why..? I don't have a clue..?
-
Not a big A330 fan...Yes, they look nice, but they do have MTC problems, more so than others...Give me a Boeing and I'm happier
-
From MSP -BKK your best bet is NWA, they have good prices on that BKK route
