It seems to be steadily going downhill on a yearly basis. The food is terrible, so don't even think of eating there. Rooms are so-so and in need of renovation. But, you can also look at it this way, you have a room during the New Years celebration, you have a good location and all your going to do in the room is sleep and have some bedroom fun. Pool on the rooftop is acceptable and I'm sure you can find other places to eat at. ENJOY...!

I had the Dynasty ask for a CC# and instead I also went to the Nana Hotel {Deluxe Room}, which I thought was great for the 1500 Baht price... Did you like that room also, Zeus...?

http://www.a2zpattaya.com/index.htm?main=m2401a.htm I use Sutin Fine Arts, but can't seem to find there website...

I stayed in a Deluxe room on the last trip {1500 Baht} and was very impressed with the size/quality of room. Yes, it may be a rite of passage, but the are making some improvements to the place {pool & rooms}. I've tried other places like the Dynasty and Majestic Suites, but have yet to find a room as big as that Deluxe room at the Nana. I'll stay there anytime...!

Christmas in pattaya-- cant get a hotel
Greg_B replied to robio's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Soi 7.. I had mine cloned for $1500 and that was 6 months after my Thailand trip, the charges were made in TPE/HKG. Closed the account and didn't have to pay a thing, the merchant was just out of luck. It does happen, not any BS about it. -
You may not find the same rate, as they sell some of the seats to travel agencies or consolidators. Just get a price you can live with and book it...

I had a similar situation in Sept 2004 and I chose to stay at the Nana Hotel instead of the Dynasty. There record with CC# is tainted and I didn't want to go through the cloning process again.....

Papa.. You should have gotten an E-Mail confirmation on the purchase of your tickets {if bought over the internet}. If you bought them over an 1-800 phone #, you will recieve something in the mail Bring that copy to the airport and present it to the agent at the ticket counter. Please have the CC you used to purchase these, as you may be asked for that to verify the purchase. You could also keep the CC bill showing the purchase {to ease your jitters} This is a cost saving measure by the airlines and really is so much easier. They will issue you boarding passes at the ticket counter before you leave {on the day of departure}. Then you will have to go through the same process on your return trip back home. You can have all your seats assigned before you depart and once you have some type of written comfirmation, you are set for your trip. I just did it for my buddy and had confirmation with 60 seconds of the purchase via an E-Mail. I then just gave him a copy of that E-Mail. After one trip, you will be an E-Ticket pro and you will no longer have those "jitters"

I've been by the British Embassy and I stayed at the Nana Hotel. It was a short walk from there and no cab was needed. This website has a map and the daily hours of operation. Come out of the Nana Hotel and go left, then hang a right on Wireless Road. It took me about 15 mins to get to the US Embassy and the taxi will want 200 to 300 Baht, but it's not that long of a walk. If you need translation done, there are many places around the Embassy to get it done. http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/servlet/F...d=1065714414131

I'll agree the stairs can get to be a pain in the arse, but I like being able to come in the front door and go out the backdoor {when needed}. The view from the balcony is very nice, as I did tour Room #9 in Sept 2004. I really liked it as the room was big enough and the balcony had a great view. Fun thing to do, would be to visit a BJ Bar and go out the alley to your room at the Lord Nelson. Since from memory, you have to go outside the bar {Kiss Bar} to get to the ST room... I did notice a DVD player in the room also and it had a ceiling fan over the King size bed. I did put it in the Hotel Review section, with some pictures.

I've stayed on Soi 6 the last 2 times I've been to Pattaya. I can get to the Queen Vic about 4 different ways, so avoiding the BJ Bars can be done easily. But at times I like to visit those bars at the end of a night out, so it is nice to be close to the hotel. The Soi has currency exchange, laundry, places to eat, 7-11 near by, so I like what it has to offer. Really enjoy staying at the QV and being on the balcony to watch the TG's...

I was by there in Sept 2004 and saw the rooms, they were nice, give it a try...

I was ready to write the Nana Hotel off the list, until last trip. I booked a Deluxe room to give it one more chance. It was the best room I've gotten in my trips to BKK. Well worth the 1500 Baht and twice as big as any room at the Majestic or Dynasty Sofa, loveseat, 2 TV's, desk and a sitting area with a big fridge Booked it again for the Jan 2005 trip...

Gotta love that time in AC...Great price..!

I bought a diamond in the homeland {USA} and had it done in Thailand, as I wanted Thai Gold for the ring...It took 3 days to get done and was perfect...Any Gold Shop offers this service I don't think I paid more than 4,000 Baht for the Thai Gold and it was about 500 Baht to have the diamond set... Just another option to think about.... Please check your Embassy website for the rules to get legally married in Thailand, it will help you get a head start.. http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/servlet/F...d=1068717516870 Most translation places near the Embassy offer a "service" to translate the documents {600 Baht} and then to take them to the Thai Legalization {2100 Baht}. This saves you many hours of running around in BKK, well worth the money spent and done within 24 hours. Amphur Office is easy and will cost you 500 Baht to complete..Make sure you get all Thai documents translated into English also. Name change on her passport/Thai ID and you may be eligible to claim her on your taxes {can be done in USA}, I'm not sure of the UK rules...

Any hotel suggestions for january 2005
Greg_B replied to Floyd's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Floyd.. The Lord Nelson is in the Hotel review section with pictures/map. I saw a room just before the opening and it looked very nice for 750 Baht {Page 10, Pattaya Hotels less than 1,000 Baht} -

Flamingo Is a Suite For Christmas a Good Deal?
Greg_B replied to Grandpollo's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
This is not a real fancy hotel, but may have rooms since it just opened. I saw the rooms and liked them.. http://www.lordnelsonpattaya.com/ -
I stayed at this quiet place in Koh Samui {Jan 2004}. I had the place to myself, with a nice little beach and it was very relaxing. http://www.pattayapages.com/reviewpost/sho...7&cat=11&page=1 There are some places in Rayong, you could escape to also...

I looked at this in Sept 2004 and the only "drawback" I could find was the returm appointments at 1 week, 1 month, 6 months and 1 year. So if you were to do it in Pattaya, I suppose your last 3 return visit would have to be done at home with another Doctor. One thing they did require was a blood test for HIV. This had to be done 3 months prior to the surgery. http://www.bph.co.th/pages/lasikcenter.html
