stamboy.. Hub is a "master" at priceline.com, he gave me some advice on it last year and it came in very handy before I bid. It was biddingfortravel.com, that he told me about and I used that to my advantage when needing a room in LAX before going to BKK. It was a last minute deal that saved me at least $50, but if it wasn't for him, I'd have never known about it. In turn I told some friends about it also...

Actually, as much as I hate to say it, wouldn't he be better off at the Haven Hotel. I'ts location is good, price is reasonable and you could easily hookup for a round of golf with the people who stay there.

Nice location and a nice hotel, as I was by it on the last trip..

Just a little bit of effort and some elbow grease, the place could be a gem..

Airline baggage allowance re golf clubs
Greg_B replied to stoace's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Pie... Well, sit in the corner and call me a dumbass, after researching this I was shocked to find the difference in worldwide policies. I had no idea that the rest of the world was different than the US/Canada. You're fucked, leave those damn clubs at home. Sorry, as an Airline Employee, Ive always wanted to say that. I do stand corrected and appreciate your tact in pointing that out, Pie -
Airline baggage allowance re golf clubs
Greg_B replied to stoace's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Guys , you're making this harder than it actually is. From the Thai Airways website: Passengers in all classes of service, from First to Economy, are allowed two pieces of luggage. The sum of the three dimensions (length + height + width) for each piece cannot exceed 158 cm. (62 inches) and the weight of each piece cannot exceed 32 kgs. (70 lbs). Now, check 1 bag, golf clubs and carry on 1 bag.. http://www.thaiair.com/Travel_Destination_...eck_in_faqs.htm -
ting_tong is 100% correct on that one, just go around the corner to the BayBreeze, but eat breakfast at the Apex...

Airline baggage allowance re golf clubs
Greg_B replied to stoace's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
The allowance is per bag, not in total baggage weights. Your clubs will be fine, just do us Airline Employees a favor and don't pack extra stuff in them Intl weights are higher than domestic.. -
Damn road is a real pain in the arse to get across...

WHERE IS THE CENTER OF ACTION
Greg_B replied to MAGNUMMAN's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
30 days...? Wished I had that kind of time off. Lets stay economical, as the room at top price isn't really needed. Now, remember, these aren't going to be 5 Star hotels, but all you really need is the basics. The most important thing is a big bed, AC, nice shower and maybe a pool, since it will be very hot. No matter what you learn from this board, it will be forgotten once you get there. Finding your way around is easy, so no need to worry. I'm thinking of trying to get you in a place that will be close to laundry and E-Mail, since you will be there for a month. RG is a very nice place, but for 30 days, it may become a pain in the ass trying to hop a Baht Bus to/from. I like the place, but want to get you in a location that you can easily walk to/from the fun. This place does look nice, I was by it in Feb 2005 and it was impressive. The rates are reasonable and the area is fairly easy to get to. {Areca Lodge} Nice thing about it is, that when you come out of the hotel the action is to your right/left, up to you... http://www.pattayapages.com/reviewpost/sho...=7&cat=4&page=1 -
siam, hard rock or somewhere else?
Greg_B replied to thai style's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
http://www.pattayapages.com/reviewpost/sho...=7&cat=4&page=1 I'd give this a try, mate... -
Crossing a busy street is something that you will find a challenge. You have to look the opposite ways, not what you're use to. Believe me, this is very important for your safety. No need to carry more than 5,000 Baht, as that's enough to go around. Please don't try to look like Mr. T and wear all your gold. It can be easily taken from you at anytime, leave that stuff at home. Forget renting any type of transportation, as you won't need it and you are not use to that side of the road. Safe sex is a practice, not an issue to joke about. Use a safety deposit box, it's for your peace of mind, as well as protection for your valuables. Stay away from Gold Shops, unless you plan to purchase items for yourself. The TG's can get there own gold, no reason for you to buy them anything. The food can throw your system off, be careful what you eat.. Most of all remember that you are a tourist to a foreign country, what you believe and practice at home, may not be the case in Thailand. Show respect for religion and the King

siam, hard rock or somewhere else?
Greg_B replied to thai style's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If you're into paying the rate of 3200 Baht, then by all means stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, Siam Bayshore or other 5 star places. But you could get a standard room for 1,000 Baht and under at numerous hotels in Pattaya. Ones that are guest friendly, without all the luxuries. Really, what else do you need in a room, besides a bed, TV, shower and AC..? I guess that cheap charlie side of mine is really starting to come out theses days -
If you go left from the Lek Hotel and walk about 2 blocks you'll see a the Skaw Beach Hotel on a side street {other side of the road} 650 Baht for a nice clean room, lady friendly, phones, AC, swimming pool and a king size bed... Nice hotel for a very good price, but no website.

Regency Park Hotel in BKK, has the softest beds I slept in. Most of the ones in pattaya are rock hard...

I'll agree with ting_tong about this, why not just use the reviews and ask opinions about hotels in Pattaya, as I'm sure your travel agent hasn't been to Pattaya many times.

Marriott Pattaya 1000bht joiner fee???
Greg_B replied to besty's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If there is any doubt in your mind, as to a joiner fee, then don't stay at the place. RG is 1,350 baht and never is a problem, it may not be in the same class as the Pattaya Marriott , but at least you have the peace of mind that it's guest friendly. -
WTF...? I don't live in Pattaya or have a business in Pattaya. You have me confused with someone else. Nothing wrong with the hotels on Soi 6, it's a fun street. Next time do a little research before replying to a post..
-
I did it last year and booked via there website, it was very simple to do.

How about an adventure on the lovely Soi 6...? http://www.lordnelsonpattaya.com

It took me about 35 mins to get to the airport @ 500 Baht, they want you to check in at least 1 hour before departure. It's not a big airport, only has a small gift shop and 1 place to eat. You are "bused" to the aircraft, as there are no jetways. I think the only place that is served from there is Koh Samui {Bangkok Airways}. The aircraft was nice and clean for the short 1 hour flight.

I like the area around the Apex/BayBreeze, but I've been staying at the Skaw Beach lately. Love the Apex breakfast and the Lek Hotel has one just a little better. But the Apex runs that damn deposit for safety box scam and I had to argue for my deposit back. Hard for them to not give it back when you keep all reciepts, but it was the attempt that pissed me off. I don't put too much Baht into a room as it is. I'm not there enough as it is. I guess my high end would be a nicer room at the BayBreeze Ahhh..Ting_Tong, you ever tried that steak place across from the BayBreeze, I hear it's a good one, but I haven't tried it yet...

Best Way From BK Airport to Pataya?
Greg_B replied to Happy Chappy!'s topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
To answer your questions... 1. Stay the night in BKK @ the Nana Hotel 2. Take the bus for a mere 90 Baht to Pattaya {next day} 3. Go for the RG in Pattaya, it's close enough to the beach/action and is a very nice place. -
