  1. Trying AirAsia in Nov 2005 for 4,020 Baht {2 people roundtrip}
  2. I've stayed in a Suite or Deluxe room the last 4 trips and really enjoyed it. But.......trying to workout the details of my wife/girls coming to BKK and I'm wanting to pre-pay her room, as I won't be there myself. Been told I can not pre-pay with a credit card, as I must be there in person {some antiquated thinking}. The Mgr. won't budge from her stance, so I told them to cancel my next 2 reservations, as I'll find another place to stay. Instead of taking care of a 3 time/yr customer, she managed to drive me away...
  3. Please refer to this thread, to join an ESPN League http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17490
  4. Hmmmm...LAST PLACE sounds like a great name for that team.. Thanks to Shilo, for getting it started this year, as we need the title back in the USA
  5. I closed it up and formed a private league in ESPN, check your PM or the thread...

  9. Some bars will show an alliance to a certain team in a sporting event. It's usually good for business and makes economic sense, so why not show it..? For those who don't enjoy, I'm sure you can find another place to hangout for a night or two.
  10. Got a website or E-Mail...?
  11. SoCal.. LAX-KIX - 747-400 KIX-BKK- 747-200 Same on the return trip, now the 747-200 was old and it didn't have the personal TV's, but at that stage of the trip, I'm into sleep mode. The 747-400 was great, very good aircraft
  12. I was in 3 or 4 different areas on the last trip and we were never asked for ID to buy phone cards or a sim card. It was the same-same at the MBK in BKK, as we bought another phone {groan} This was about 2 weeks ago
  13. I'd pass on it and get another room, you maybe disappointed with it.
  14. I just flew JAL from LAX-KIX-BKK and not only was it a good deal {$802}, the layover times were about 1hr and 15 mins each way. I left LAX @ 1:55 PM and arrived BKK @ 11PM I left BKK @ 9:10 AM and arrived LAX @ 11AM I had my own personal TV in coach, the service was good and the seats were comfortable.
  15. My concerns would be about the trip to/from Thailand, as that is a tough one for us as well. I assume the cat will remain indoors at all times, so the climate may not be a really big factor, assuming you leave the AC on. A pet is part of the family and leaving it can be as hard as taking it with you. As long as you have the health certificates and shots, you'll probably be okay with the Thai authorities. You may want to try this link to Thai Customs and ask them any questions. http://www.customs.go.th/Customs-Eng/Conta...nuNme=ContactUs Wishing you the best of luck on whatever you decide to do.
  16. I hope this link will provide you the information, you're looking for... http://www.pettravel.com/passports_immigration.cfm
  17. WTF...? I couldn't imagine going to Thailand and not having my runny eggs for breakfast at the Nana Hotel..
  18. Nice area and very nice hotel...
  19. I did a KOA to BKK with the dates of 6/15 and 7/13 and got a lower fare. Total $891.54 - KOA to BKK $891.54 per Adult N/A per Child (KOA) Kona- Hawaii, HI, US 10:45 AM 06/15 747 (NRT) Tokyo-Narita, JP 04:20 PM 06/16 (NRT) Tokyo-Narita, JP 06:55 PM 06/16 747 (BKK) Bangkok, TH 11:25 PM 06/16 (BKK) Bangkok, TH 08:35 AM 07/13 744 (NRT) Tokyo-Narita, JP 04:35 PM 07/13 (NRT) Tokyo-Narita, JP 09:00 PM 07/13 747 (KOA) Kona- Hawaii, HI, US 09:30 AM 07/13 Multiple carriers that weren't listed...
  20. It depends if your airline flies to that destination, which mine doesn't have Asian destinations. I fly on a fare that is 95% off of the highest Y fare. So it works out to be about $300 plus the taxes. Yes I fly standby, but would be the last to get on in that catagory, as there employees get on ahead of me. I take a risk of getting stuck in a connecting city with another carrier. Been there, done that on the last trip. If your trip is flexible, it's a great deal. But mine this time is not very flexible, as I have to be back in the USA by a certain date. Now if I was retired, it would be a great deal. If you use your friends pass, make sure they list in Business or First Class for the flight, as they will put you up there, if they have the extra room. Travel without checking any luggage is a good idea, if possible. Since NWA has downsized there inter-Asian routes {Airbus}, it seems there are less seats available during the low season. I'm paying about $500 more for the luxury of having a seat, which this time is a must.
  21. Okay, I had a chance to get 2 weeks off and head to Thailand. Being an Airline Employee does have it's advantages, so I figured Thai or UAL must have some open seats to BKK from the USA. Every departure is nearly full, so I had to go to Plan B. I started checking out priceline, hotwire, orbitz, travelocity and any other website I could find. Found the price to be about $1200 from LAX-BKK-LAX, it's not the best price, but if you want to go you don't have a choice. Just at the last minute of despair, I stumble across another website, it's a consolidator from Texas. I put the dates in and a price of $822 comes across from JAL. Times look very good and connections are short/sweet. That's a better price than I paid in Jan 2005 and I booked 6 months ahead of the flight. http://www.airvalues.com/index.aspx Got an E-Mail from them today, have an E-Ticket sent to me, not a problem at all..
  22. Good Fucking Luck on hearing anything from Thai Airways. I've places 35+ phonecalls to them today in the USA and gotten a busy signal or no answer. Guess I'll have to call to Thailand tonight to get my problem rsolved...
  23. Thai AirAsia is spreading its wings to the Indochina market, becoming the first no-frills airline to operate to that region. The sister airline of the Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia intends to fly from Bangkok to Vientiane, Phnom Penh and Hanoi later this year. The move reflects a desire to seek new route opportunities in destinations that full-service carriers such as Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways International tapped for some time. Thai AirAsia, owned 51% by Shin Corp and 49% by AirAsia, has just received approval from the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration to operate up to seven flights a week on the Hanoi-Bangkok route starting in the next three months. Plans are also afoot for Thai AirAsia to expand its southern China network with flights to two new destinations including Kunming from Bangkok within this year, pending approval from authorities. In that region, the airline is also operating scheduled services from Bangkok to Macau and Xiamen, where it started flying on April 25 to become the first foreign budget carrier granted landing rights in mainland China. China is at the centre of regional route expansion of AirAsia and its Thai sister carrier as it moves to cash in on the significant air travel market, particularly among leisure travelers. By September, AirAsia plans to start flights to Guangzhou, Nanjing, Kunming, Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing and Hangzhou, the company said. AirAsia also plans to fly to China from Penang and Kota Kinabalu. It already offers a service to China from its home base, Kuala Lumpur international airport. Singapore-based low cost carriers Jetstar Asia and Valuair are reportedly queuing up for landing rights to major cities in mainland China, industry sources said. Another Thai AirAsia service likely to take off soon is Bangkok-Manila, according the airline insiders. Thai AirAsia, which started flying about about 18 months ago, now operates point-to-point flights from Bangkok to six regional destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Penang _ all in Malaysia _ and Singapore. At home, it flies to eight Thai cities _ Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Hat Yai, Phuket and Narathiwat. The airline does not plan to introduce additional local routes now but instead is looking more at raising the frequencies on the existing routes. Frequencies and timing of the new international routes are being worked out as the airline is assessing travel demand, particularly on the budget segment. To support the expanding network, Thai AirAsia is adding four Boeing 737-300 jets to its existing fleet of six aircraft of the same model in August this year. Earlier this year, AirAsia made history by signing a purchase contract for 60 A320s plus a further 40 options. This is an increase of an additional 20 aircraft on top of the original purchase agreement for 40 A320s order plus 40 options under the memorandum of understanding signed on in December 2004. Deliveries of the first A320s will commence in late 2005 and continue through until 2011. The AirAsia airlines now operates 28 Boeing 737-300s.
  24. FYI.. ESPN has expanded it's website to allow you to watch MLB on your PC, for a monthly fee. I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA or the NFL soon expanded there roll into the internet. So do look at the ESPN website, maybe something like that will happen...?
  25. 100% correct on the deposit for the safety box. I had to produce my receipt showing I paid the deposit, which you must, in order to get the safety deposit box. It's 500 Baht and they act like it was never paid, but they demand a deposit or you can't have a box. Round and round we go, me acting like I didn't keep the reciept and then after she says I should have kept the receipt, I produce it for her to see . I actually like the place for the money, it was not a bad place to stay. But you can easily get other rooms around that price {give or take 150 Baht}, that are better.
