  1. I've stayed at the Majestic Suites two times. Had a nice sized tub, the first time and a regular size the next time. Yes, they are nice, but the room is so damn small. Queen size bed in a closet is more like it. I did like the place, but the size of the room does get to you. So, I looked at the Nana Hotel and went for a Deluxe room at 1,500 Baht. That room is huge, but I gave up the luxury of the Majestic Suites bathroom. I got 2 sofas, 2 TV's, king size bed and a big room in exchange, which I thought was well worth the trade.
  2. My buddies wife was going to get it done on the last trip. She wanted the laser process. They started at 12,000 Baht, but only did the front teeth in this process and wanted her to return for 2 other visits. Next thing you know it was up to 16,000 Baht. She is 100% Thai and started to feel like this was going to be a ripoff, so she passed on the process and got it done in the Usa for $350. Besides that, all my Dental work has been done in Thailand at a very reasonable cost. I've had 3 crowns and 1 filling done for 1/2 the cost
  3. I've stayed at the Majestic Suites and the Nana Hotel, for the size of a Deluxe room at the Nana Hotel, I'll pay 1,500 Baht. See the action at 0100 in the Nana Hotel parking lot and you'd understand how much fun the place is... Plus I love those runny scrambled eggs in the morning {free}
  4. Doorman.. I'll agree with you on the location, as it is a good one. Yes, the owner does has a major attitude problem. He has many friends who stay there for his golf outings and they are loud. I see he has raised his price to 950 Baht/night, so it would be better to walkup the Soi and stay at the Dynasty or Sandy Spring. Actually, I'd rather stay at the Baybreeze Hotel, but I was trying to make it easier for his first trip.
  5. In Pattaya, it's so easy to get around and the action is all over the place. But, you are a "newbie" and shouldn't be straying out too far on your first trip. I'll go out on a limb and catch some grief for this one, but the location would be good for you. I'd stay at the Haven Hotel { I did the first time}, it's easy to get to / from Walking St. and near the action of Soi 6,7 & 8. http://www.thehaven-hotel.com/home.htm No doubt about BKK, as you must stay at the Nana Hotel on your first trip, it's just a "freshman ritual" ... I stay at the Nana Hotel on every trip, as I've come to love that place http://www.nanahotel.co.th/html/
  6. Sammy... Damn good location for a very rundown hotel, it's worth staying away from. Food is bad, rooms are small and in need of repair. I was there 2 yrs. ago and won't be back. I stopped in this year to take a peek...same story as before http://www.pattayapages.com/reviewpost/sho...=7&cat=4&page=3
  7. Nana Hotel, Majestic Suites and Dynasty are no more than a 15 min. walk from the Embassy.
  8. Basically in Pattaya, all you need is a room that is halfway nice. Clean, TV, nice bed and a friendly staff. You can find these for 750 Baht and under. I'm one not to spend the extra on a room, saving that for other things I'd like to purchase or do. Baybreeze, Queen Vic and the Lord Nelson all fall into this catagory and I'm sure there are many more. Use this as an example of what I'm saying... http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13622
  9. I looked for a similar deal in Jan , but gave up trying to get one. I just got 2 rooms @650 Baht/each instead {Skaw Beach Hotel} I wanted the RG, but she had a "hissy fit" at the price of 2,500 Baht/night. I guess she was right, by staying within the budget. It actually worked out very well, as we had more privacy and the kids got there own room.
  10. I know when the UTP to SIN flights started, I was very skeptical about the success rate. It's hard to compete with a legacy carrier and BKK is so much bigger than Pattaya. I just couldn't see it happening and it ended sooner than I expected.
  11. Try a Deluxe room at the Nana Hotel for 1500 Baht, it's very nice. It has 2 sofas, 2 TV's, seperate bedroom , fridge, table for eating and a desk. The bathrooms are nice and clean, the rooms have been recently renovated and there is no joiner fee. Breakfast buffett is free and good. Most people turn there nose up at this place, but I keep coming back to the Deluxe room, as for the size/price, it can't be beat. Free courtesy reservation via there website..... http://www.nanahotel.co.th/html/
  12. I was by the place 2 weeks ago, it was leveled to make room for condos. A little bit of Pattaya history, torn down to make room for more condos.
  13. Be a little leary about EVA, as I bought a ticket and changed my date to fly. Sure, there was a $100 {USD} charge, but then they added the fare difference in and I paid another $55 {USD} on top of that. Not much you can do, when you're at the ticket counter ready to go to BKK.
  14. Seating : Cathay Pacific F/A's : Thai Airways Food : United Worst : NWA { F/A's are such bitches} Amenities : Cathay Pacific Luxury: Singapore Airlines I'm trying EVA for the first time, hope all goes well.....
  15. Queen Vic, as I enjoy the way Bert runs the place, the price, size of room and the area.
  16. One problem for the JFK to BKK trip, is getting to JFK, as it is a pain in the arse...I live near Charlotte NC and no airline serves JFK directly from here. To solve that portion of the problem you need to get to LaGuardia Airport and do a transfer via a shuttle... http://www.nyairportservice.com/fares.html Some pre-planning is involved, as I really don't want to spend the night in NYC,
  17. Nice 3D information on the new BKK Airport site, about the A380.. http://www.bangkokairport.org/demo/en/3d1en.php
  18. With the current Baht Bus system, it really doesn't matter where you stay in Pattaya. If you've been 3 or 4 times, you have a knowledge of the layout and you're looking for a place that meets your needs. I'm more of a Soi 6 man {QV}, but others don't like to go that far up from the action. It's all a matter of personal choice...
  19. Just before I got married last year, her Mother did ask about a dowry. I was able to sit down with the 'wife" and explain that I could pay a dowry to her Mother and then there would be no money for the house. She wanted the house and her Mother was made to understand, she may have not liked it, but it was better for her anyway. The wife wanted a home and there was only so much money to go around. Not an upper class girl, just one from the rural area of Sakeo. I let her make the decision, as it was evident what she really wanted...
  20. Just check in as two instead of one
  21. Actually you could stay at the Nana Hotel, Dynasty, Majestic Suites or any in that vicinity. It was only a 20 min walk to the US Embassy and would be about the same for the British Embassy. I think the taxi was about 90 Baht or dare to have some fun and use a tuk-tuk. I'll enclose the link to there website, if you're needing general information.There hours had changed after the tsunami, but should be returning to normal http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/servlet/F...d=1065714374339
  22. Southwest doesn't have any interline agreements with other airlines, it's there only downside. Claim and re-check is the only option available
  23. Most comfortable room I've had in BKK was at the Nana Hotel {no kidding}, I got a room for 1500 Baht {Superior or Deluxe, I forget} and it was the size of a suite, with sofa, loveseat, desk and table for eating. The bedroom was seperated and dark for good sleeping. Bathroom was brand new and very clean. They are redecorating these rooms and it was a very nice one. Also had 2 TV's Place catches a ton of grief, but I tried it again and will keep going back...
  24. Emil.. Sounds like you got a good deal on yours...
  25. 60 days is the limit {I think}
