I flit about like a butterfly in Witherspoons trying to find a smoke free zone but the feckers are mostly chain smokers and dont give a toss for the people around them, loads of heavy duty fans but some only blow the smoke in your direction ! I went up the soi a little bit thinking an AC place like the Butchers Arms would be a haven for non-smokers but as soon as I ordered a drink the bar man pushed an ashtray in front of me. I had a good view of the Merseyside derby but again had to flit as a couple of guys came in & proceeded to smoke up a storm right beside me Us ex-smokers are the biggest moaners of all but I would appreciate a good place to watch the footy without the relentless battle to avoid unwanted thoughtless smokers. cheers rogero

I asked this very question a few days ago at Kasikorn beside Tukcom when I used my FairFX prepaid credit card for the first time. The lady inside told me there was a 3% charge from the teller but no 150B charge & no charge via the ATM except for the standard 150B. I think she also said there was a limit of 60000B at the ATM but I couldn't get anymore than 20000B although this may have been my fault pressing the wrong buttons. When I pressed for other amount I got a negative response. cheers rogero

No problem my friend but unfortunately on this forum we have so many banned members trying to re-establish themselves back to the main board that we are automatically suspicious of any newcomer. You no doubt are genuine & your requests will be responded to by the many knowledgeable BMs here. cheers rogero :beer

Appreciate that Emil All good info & saved away for future use. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. cheers rogero

I'm in the same boat ! but there seems to be a science of sorts in picking the best times for your freebies. You obviously know what you're doing. Can you expand a little about the "low load days" & pass on a few tips ? If we are not restricted to certain dates/times we should be able to maximise the potential ? (avoid weekend/school holidays etc ?) tia cheers rogero

Just by coincidence I have added both PaddyPower & Ladbrokes to my benevolent charities recently so will test both next month from LOS. PaddyPower cos those UK TV ads are classic. Ladbrokes cos they emailed me informing me of an account I had forgotten about & had a few bob still in it from 2003. I think probably by law they have to give me a nudge about my dormant account happy betting everyone (oops from UK off course!!) cheers rogero

I noticed this only yesterday when I registered with the National Lottery so I could do my lottery numbers from Patts. At present it seems you can only do the lottery up to 8 weeks in the UK although I did notice there was a link to a direct debit option ? I read their disclaimer about possible forfeit of winnings. I have prepaid here in UK & have a surplus payment sufficient to cover my future lottery picks if that would make any difference ? As regards my betting site accounts does that mean any losing bets I made from LOS are null & void and I can expect a refund anytime soon cheers rogero

Thanks Jacko for that. I also like the idea of the electric bat. (I love gadgets) I expect Tukcom has them. Also thanks to Big-Brian & JK for explaining about the mozzie coils, I had heard the name before but didn't understand their function. cheers rogero

Hi Tom, How does the zapper work ? Is it a plug-in device which electrocutes the little "rascals" or a deterrent of some sort to make them feel unwelcome. Are there such a thing as anti-mozzie candles or are they a fire hazard ? cheers rogero

Thank you Mr T. I used your taxi last visit & was pleased with the service I received and the efficient driver (Pet I think?). I will be using you again soon (any discount for publicity is entirely up to you ) Your English is much better than my Thai cheers rogero :beer

I agree also, I initially made the mistake once of booking my accommodation first & had a hell of a job fitting in a flight to suit. Luckily I was able to adjust my apartment booking by a few days and everything slotted into place. Wont be making that mistake again. cheers rogero

Does anyone here use OpenOffice?
rogero replied to bigdelta's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Thanks JK for the link to Word Viewer, another good option for MS Word compatible Docs, I have D/Loaded & will be using more in future. cheers rogero :whistling: -
Good post BigD and I have already bought some to bring with me but surely det insect repellent is available in Patts ? Last visit I purchased meds for what I thought was "hives" as I was too thick to realise the painful lumps on my legs were actually Mozzie bites as they feasted on the Sangsom oozing out of my pores. cheers rogero :clueless

The only reason I downloaded Open Office was to access the docs I had D/L from the Hull Consulate in order to print the Visa docs out. It does the job without the unnecessary extras offered from MS Word. cheers rogero :beer -
I was just about to apply for this card (global/worldwide) until I delved into the small print & found the 2.5% charge which took the value out of it. I eventually signed up for the FairFX pre-paid card & no doubt there will be a few little surprises hidden away. As you mentioned before "if it looks too good" etc. I intend to use this card as an emergency back-up as it offers the ability to upload on line from my home account. Good thread, cheers rogero :gulp

Thanks a lot for that link Thailearner. Can't understand why I've never heard of them before but they are exactly what I need. Just deciding between standard & premier cover for 90 day trips cheers again rogero :clueless

Before Irish boy gets back to you, can I just add he's absolutely correct about the simplicity of opening a Kasikorn acc. I used the branch beside Tuk.com & 20min later had the pass book and ATM card. I took with me my passport (with 30 day standard visa) & business card of my accommodation (also Thai mobile number). Changed my pin outside. I never had any withdrawal charge when using the ATM, Sorry I cant help with the different province issue as I haven't that adventurous so far. hope this helps a little. cheers rogero

They are probably not in a hurry to admit this news, but unfortunately its true, Saturdays papers had this info along with a few other banks who are withdrawing this facility. Apparently some customers are using these cards purely for free foreign transactions without any thought for Nationwide profits cheers rogero

This is a well researched article & your logic is undeniable, The problem I would have is how to find my way home each year after traveling 1400 miles ! More research required I fear ! cheers rogero :beer

Sorry for again quoting your excellent post on travel Ins but I am amazed at the range of policies available at travelsupermarket and the range of prices, the vast majority being for trips of 30 or 31 days but for longer trips (for me 90 days) single trip ins could go as high £200+. I'm also researching multi-trip as an annual premium may be cheaper but the norm trip duration is typically only up to 60 days. Didn't realise the maze of choices in this issue but having never indulged in Ins of any kind before & read the posts of fellow BMs I think its crazy not to anymore. Is this quote too good to be true or typical ? http://www.moneysupermarket.com/travel-ins...productId=71830 cheers rogero

This is a timely OP & response for me as I was currently researching both topics, www.travelsupermarket.com looks ideal & I've bookmarked it for perusal tomorrow (when sober!) The home insurance issue shouldn't be much of a problem as I have a great neighbour & we cover for each other regards holidays. We have each others keys, collecting mail daily & generally checking out things, I love emailing/texting him from Paps especially during the UK winter months to tell him about the Weather. I get grilled by him on each return home (out of earshot of his wife) : Some good replies & info on this thread. cheers rogero :beer

I would have loved to see that documentary on the A380 (Was it on UK TV?). I wonder if my favorite airline Qatar has ordered any, (also certainly so & how many?) Can't wait. I hesitate to mention this but ITV UK a short time ago showed the Boeing 787 arriving in Europe for an Air show, It looks very impressive. (850 pre-orders) I know there is currently an on-going marathon thread on this subject & no doubt the fans of each will be cheering on "their" choice of aircraft manufacturer but for the average flier who is only interested in price/comfort/safety the competition between airlines can only be beneficial to us all. cheers rogero :beer

Completely agree with you with your assessment of the little twat ! He does the rounds of the little nations promising them anything they want in return for their vote in re-electing him as head honcho yet again ! He didn't like having to change his stance on video replays & new technology but the overwhelming consensus was compelling. cheers rogero :beer

Its squeaky bum time as a certain Man.U manager has been known to say. The first extra time & perhaps penalty shootouts so far in the WC. Pretty diving free from both sides, Game well on ! rogero :beer

Its not over yet ! Donovan equalises with a coolly taken penalty with 30 minutes to go. Game on ! cheers rogero
