Gobble Until You Wobble Thanksgiving Buffet Tequila Reef
soi6 replied to tequilareef's topic in Restaurants and food
Had the dinner, it was decent and filling. One recommendation is to have the pie out as well. the staff had it in the back room and i had to request for them to go get a piece of it, which upon request they brought out a single slice only of apple pie.- 14 replies

Thanks for the advice guys. Joe's advice seems to conflict with others saying is ok to bring gold coins in. I didn't know about the canadian coin value either, maybe i'll rethink my strategy. I was looking at Kugerands as being a highly portable way to travel with money that is usable globally, but if they aren't able to be brought into Thailand and the 24carat value of the Canadian coins worth more that is something to consider.

I was wondering if anyone had ever brought with them gold coins (Kugerands) to Thailand. Know there is a 10k limit on value one can bring, but is there any advice here on brining them into thailand as an emergency stash. Is it legal? Are they readily accepted for baht at a good selling price there, can one get a secure safety deposit box in a legitimate bank and not have to worry about the contents getting looted? With the economy in the world the way it is I've been thinking more about liquidating more stocks and buying gold/silver coins to put away as a hedge against inflation/dropp

in Alaska and in the NW of the US many bars have bells in them.. Has always been a tradition that when a Fisherman had a great day he'd ring the bell at the bar. when you ring the bell in the bar in many of these establishment that says you will buy all in the bar a round.. I'm not sure of the origins of it, but when a fisherman has a good catch he commonly says, 'i rang the bell'..

Sorry i was thinking of $40k USD a year. or 1.2M baht a year, that would be the amount middleclass people in the US make, i wondered if theat makes one upperclass or a Hi-So thai? I have difficulty believing your statement that $40k USD a year is middleclass in Siam, if so the thai people are much richer than i thought... Still the question is not answered, howmany million baht a year makes one Hi-So in Thailand?
-
I always wondered how well on the Hi-So Thais (Thai upper class) are, are they middle class (US $40k/yr income) or are they making much more than that. With the Thai way of making appearance so important it is sometimes hard to tell. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

if i was there i'd take a look... Looks like a great deal to me.. One thought i had was how much does an AC unit cost to buy? Perhaps one might price this and split the costs with the owner? Just being creative.

good point, i thought it might be a deformed pig also, but seems kind of large. What i find interesting is the thais all seem to be about it in a religous manner, praying maybe.. Maybe it is part of buddism to do so, in Christian cultures it wouldn't be treated like this.

http://www.chilloutpoint.com/odd_world/str...campaign=wahoha My best guess is maybe a cow that was stillborn and deformed. Anyone know the background on these weird pics?

Cherry Bar Party (St George's Day)
soi6 replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Maybe with St George being the patron saint of Scouts and the Boy Scouts being big in Thailand and brought to Thailand by the King Rama VI (1911) of Thailand have a party with some of the proceeds/donations go to the Boy/Girl Scouts of Thailand in honor of the Thai royal family, invite the local scout group leaders and arrange a budda blessing of them and their services or something.... Honoring the scouts and a patron saint of Scouts would be something that the Thais would appreciate and understand as many thai children go to girl/boy scouts and it is ingrained in their culture and viewed in -
