  1. A couple shots I took at the party that night. How the hell did Talen snag such a hottie? The only answer I can come up with - kidnapping. Great party Adam. You and your staff always put on a first-rate "do".
  2. The area East of Sukhimvit Rd. Adam took a bunch of us there last month. Some good bars and girls. Only took 3 months for me, and believe me I was NOT looking for a steady GF. I moved over Dec 1st 2005 and was sharing an apartment with her by March 5th. Now I'm building her a house in her village near Nakom Phanom and we'll try living there when it's finished. I tried to remain a butterfly, but I just stumbled upon a "good one" right after I moved over. I know other guys who've been thru 3-4 live-ins during the span of a year. Then there are guys like Adam who are habit
  3. When you have a "live-in" in Pattaya and you want to butterfly, you have to differentiate between the places you go with your "live-in" and where you go to butterfly. -First and most importantly, you can't take other girls back to the apartment you share with your live-in, even if she's out-of-town for several days. The other women who live in the building, the women who work in your building, the women who have shops in the neighborhood, the lady with the cart on the corner who your girl buys soup from, even the mototaxi guys in your neighborhood, they will ALL tell your girl if you ta
  4. I did Songkran on Soi 8 once and it is not for the faint of heart. Great fun as long as you're in the spirit of things - which means expect to be wet from Noon to sunset for a week. It has it's drawbacks, but the cute Thai girls in wet t-shirts and wet short shorts help make up for the bad parts. Thanks for the pics, Adam.
  5. I just wandered in there the other day (following an afternoon of fun on Soi 6 ). Very nice decor and had a very good Beef Pie with mashed potatoes and veggies and great gravy. Aloy mak!
  6. I'm looking at flights back to the States (Flying late Feb- early March) and Asiana has the best deal. Did a search and found very little. Anyone flown them? Opinions?
  7. Saw the place while me and my GF were walking around recently. Snapped this pic, looking down the soi from 2nd Rd. One of the guys working outside told us the room prices and we turned around and didn't even bother going inside for a look.
  8. My tastes are pretty simple and I value cheap food, but these are all places I HAVE to visit when I come to Pattaya: -Hamburger Denmark (All over, though my favorite is the one just past the Blues Factory). Best greasy hamburger in town. -Premiership (Soi Dianna). Biggest and best non-greasy hamburger in town. -Big Al's (Across from Big C, in front of Atlantic Bar). Best burritos and chili cheese fries. -Dianna Dragon (Soi Dianna). Great Thai food (my girl loves it) and lots of good, cheap falang food. -Malee's (Soi Honey). 60 baht spaghetti w/bread, and my girl says
  9. I agree with SOS. Your system just gives BGs an excuse to work guys for more LDs and the extra BF baht. If I really wanted her I'd pay her the difference and leave immediately. Problem is, this sort of "milking" of the punter turns me off to the point that I would leave and not go back. (See my report on the Honey Pot) As to the original post, it's a nice gesture, but it wouldn't draw me to the club unless I happen to be in the neighborhood. I'm with BigD. I can pay 200 baht BF at 6 or 7 PM for a hot girl at any one of a hundred or so beer bars. I ain't gonna wait until 2AM
  10. Sounds like you're talking about this place. The reason I know about it is becasue the place next door is the new location for one of my favorite restaurants, Malee. They moved from another location on Soi Honey to this new building, which they share with the Captain's Bar. Don't know about the rooms or prices of either place, but Malee has 60 baht spaghetti, one of my favorite Cheap Charlie deals in Pattaya. Here's the old location of Malee, just up the street. They have a new restaurant there now (I forget the name ), and their food is quite good as well.
  11. Okay, it's semi-finals day, one of the best sportsbar days of the year. A great day to just plant yourself in front of a big screen with some beer and food and a few buddies and enjoy some roundball. Personally I'm not touching these games. Any of these teams could win it all and I wouldn't be too suprised. If I had to pick I'd take the favorites (UNC, Illinois) and then take UNC on Monday night. But what do I know, I had Alabama in the Final 4 BTW, after I watch the Championship game Monday night I fly to LA on the first leg of my trip to Thailand. Is that the way to start a hol
  12. Oh very young What will you leave us this time You're only dancing on this earth for a short while And though your dreams may toss and turn you now They will vanish away like your daddys best jeans Denim Blue fading up to the sky And though you want him to last forever You know he never will (You know he never will ) And the patches make the goodbye harder still Oh very young What will you leave us this time There'll never be a better chance to change your mind And if you want this world to see a better day Will you carry the words of love with you Will you rid
  13. My bracket is toast. Wake Forrest went down in Double OT to West Virginia. How does that happen? I still have Duke, but they could easily lose to Mississippi St tomorrow. I may have to go put some cash on the underdogs. Go Bucknell and Vermont! Well, the best college athletes on earth run back and forth on a wooden floor for 2 hours trying to put a round ball through a hoop. It's fast-paced and action-packed . . . unlike soccer.
  14. I had Alabama going to the Final 4 as my cinderella team. So much for that region of my bracket. Why would I bet on a team that has the same name as a band I hate? I still have bets on Wake Forrest (6-1) and Duke (9-1) to win it all. Then there's Kansas. Sorry btm, but as a MU fan I get a perverse pleasure when KU loses, and it doesn't get much better than a 3rd seeded KU losing to 14th seeded Bucknell. Sure, my Tigers didn't even make the NCAA field and lost in the first round of the lowly NIT, but we beat KU a couple of weeks ago and then got to watch them bl
  15. Picked up my Prop sheet today at my local casino. Pats are giving 6.5 points and the total is 47. I think the Pats will win easily but I don't like the line so probably won't bet it. I DO like the some of the many prop bets. Always like to bet on who will score the first TD. Corey Dillon is the favorite at 3/1, with Micheal Westbrook at 6/1. McNabb is a pretty good bet at 10/1 Some other props: First turnover Pats +105 Eagles -125 Total punts over 8.5 (-120), under 8.5 (even) First team to score Pats -170, Eagles +150 Total QB sacks over 5 (+125) under 5 (-
  16. I was born and raised in Kansas City MO. Can any of you hockey fans tell me the name of the team we had for 1 solitary year? They moved :crying and became the New Jersey Devils. I rooted for the Blues for awhile, but it's hard for a KC boy to seriously root for anything that comes from St. Loony. I became a Pens fan in the early 90's because of Mario. We had an IHL team in KC called the Blades and they were a farm team for the Sharks, so I became a Sharks fans since all our good players left to play with them. The Sharks are still my team, but like Barrio Runner I will watch just ab
  17. Thanks guys. I arrive in BKK on 5/12 (already got a room reserved) and proceed to Pattaya on 5/13. I'll wing it from there and I'll let you know how it goes.
  18. On previous trips I have always played it safe and made room reservations in advance, but many guys have told me that, unless it's high season, you'll find better deals by just showing up and shopping around. So that is my plan for my up coming trip, to hit Pattaya on May 13th and just start looking. Then I noticed that Saturday the 15th is a Thai holiday. Will there be a million Thai vacationers in town that weekend? Will all the hotels be booked? My short list of potential hotels include Tim's, Apex, Sky Top, Bay Breeze, and Pig & Whistle. What do the Pattaya experts think?
  19. No one else has posted it yet so I may be premature (wouldn't be my first time :-[ ), but I thought I'd chime in with some tentative results. Steel Power finished first with a point total of 1874. BearDown finished second with 1845 points. Hats off to John UK, who bested many of us Yanks with a point total of 1659, good enough for 9th place overall. As for me (Thii-rockers), I managed to finish strong (sort of) and climb out of second-to-last-place with 1520 points, 14th out of 16 teams. 2 of my 3 highest point totals came in the last 2 weeks. Hey, I'm just starting to get
