was obvious in the first few minutes England weren't gunna beat the Italians. Went to bed after the first half was over.
  2. was 320 plus my beer IIRC.
  3. a bit leeryTBH as they advertise packaged gravy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5s48ZQkvo0
  4. will try it. Wonder if the lamb is only available on sundays.
  5. I'm in the end stages of a 100 day holiday and have visited many a restaurant (obviously.) Thai food is great virtually everywhere but sometimes one has a craving for something else. Tonight it was roast lamb with the trimmings. The dinner came in a reasonable time neither fast nor slow tho the restaurant wasn't too busy. The side dishes were average as it's hard to fuck up mashed potatoes and steamed veggies but why do they serve institutional gravy all over everything? To be honest, I've never, ever tasted a worse lamb in my whole life. Overcooked and run over by an F1 driver numerous times before his gearbox finally exploded over the whole lot. I repeat, I've never had a worse lamb in my whole life. The rest of the dinner was at best average if not prison fare. The staff ignored me as I ate only 15% of what was offered and they insisted I should pay for the whole lot. I took some solace as I scared away some new customers from eating there. I wouldn't even bother to order a beer there from now on. BTW, it's another "recommended" restaurant called 18 coins on soi Buakhao.

I'm picking Engerlund 2-1 The pouting striker will get tossed if things aren't going England's way. Not sure which prediction coming thru would make me happier.

Was at Murphys (?) last night and I put my name down for 3-1 for Germany. My girl thought that that was too many goals.
  9. was there a few nights ago for a beer. Lot's of customers and I had a hard time finding a table.

  11. rent, wages and other many things SHOULD be cheaper in the LoS. No?
  12. I just checked a website that claims Carl's Jr is much cheaper in the states. I added sales tax of 7.750 % for Orange county and came up with 110 baht for the burger I paid 139 baht for last night (Famous Star with cheese @ $3.29). I thought it was kinda pricy at a dollar more.
  13. Was there tonight. Hadn't had it in decades as it's not available in Canada, Burger was fresh yet somehow was extremely messy even before I bit into it. I like a messy burger but for a place with no customers it's inexcusable. Tasted better than I remember but not worth 139 baht just for the toppings with almost no meat. Rather eat a Whopper.
  14. just curious, I see a lot of "idiots" who may feel differently about their choices down the road.
  15. no ink myself. and there is no way Canadian medical would cover the procedure.
  16. just curious if tattoos done with guns are harder to remove than those done using bamboo.
  17. "Ate" there tonight and had the rib eye special. Chips tasted stale (complimentary.) Steak came really fast and it was undercooked (just like the opening post) and the cold tasteless onion rings had obviously been cooked before my order was placed. Wasted 200 baht IMO as I ended up getting dinner from a street vendor instead. Was thinking about trying the China Garden afterwards. No, not really.
  18. I remember a meal I had a in BKK. it was from a do it all internet cafe/coffee shop. I ordered the special curry chicken on rice and when it came it looked wonderful. The chicken, however, was still frozen. The wait staff took it back and threw the whole lot into the microwave fresh veggies and all. It was still frozen so I sent it back again. Back for more nuking and it returned piping hot including the cucumber and lettuce.
  19. Did "normal" milk (2%) 200 ml (6.77 fl ounces) is 100 calories 3.8 litres in a US gallon = 19 servings 19X 100 is well, you know. Milk, Semi-Skimmed, Tesco Calories in 100ml of milk Calories 50.0kcal Carbohydrate 4.8g Protein 3.6g Fat 1.8g Fibre 0.0g Calories in a glass of semi skimmed milk (200ml): 100kcal http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/calories/calorie_counter/eggs_dairy.htm
  20. That's about 1900 calories a day just in milk..... YIKES.
  21. FcUK me I go thru a gallon in about three weeks.
  22. Would you want to even go into Gogo's that normally bar Indians from entering? Phuket isn't as full on a monger location like Patts is.
  23. So less than half of what I pay in Canada. (price controls in the other direction)
  24. how much is milk anyway? In Canada (govt regulated boards) cheap milk is about 140 baht for 4 litres (a gallon approx) expensive milk is easily 50% more and smaller amounts are even marked up at an even higher %.
  25. Was in Hua Hin at a Thai restaurant and I just wanted a light meal for lunch. After perusing the menu the "spicy pork salad" seemed to fit the bill tho I'm not one that can tolerate a great deal of spice. The owner/operator who spoke excellent English took my order of salad and water and I asked that the salad would be "nit noi spicy." 10 minutes later the salad arrived with a little red bombs throughout. I picked out as many as I could but the bombs had done their business and the salad was a challenge for me. I was sweating and struggling as I ate the salad and went thru my bottle of water very quickly indeed. I stopped numerous times to pant and pause so that the spice was tolerable. Upon noticing my struggles, the owner came by and asked if the salad was too spicy. "I can eat it" I told her "but it will take me three days to do so" I told her with a smile. She then took the salad away and brought me a fresh one exactly like I had hoped the first one would be. It had a wonderful zesty lime flavour. I don't know what happened with the first salad whether that was her idea of nit noi spicy or she had forgotten and made it the usual way but I was taken aback that a Thai place would do this. Most places will just ignore you and won't ask how the meal was or why you left half of it uneaten. I still smile when I think about her.
