  1. It's not really true MM. If they have money enough they can stay long term, even if they are just 18 I think I wrote it somewhere already, but in short : - ED and going school - IB and investing in some governmental founds - B and getting a job - EP and buying a Privilege Elite card They can't say they have no option because too young.
  2. Out-in visa hoppers now being barred from entry to Thailand http://www.thephuketnews.com/out-in-visa-hoppers-now-being-barred-from-entry-to-thailand-47360.php
  3. You should mention that using these kind of agency is illegal and can send you to jail. Yes, getting a visa when you don't qualify for it is illegal, even is the stamp is a "true" one ! Like for overstay the probability to be found is very small, but I know one guy (yes, only one) from my country who got taken and his story of several weeks in jail certainly discouraged many to use such agencies.
  4. Sorry but I don't understand what you mean with this message ?? Retirees and other people living here using non-Imm visa/extension are NOT concerned.
  5. ... in 28 days It has been announced 2 months ago already : The death date for VisaRuns is August 13. Another article today on the subject: No more visa runs http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/No-more-visa-runs-30238504.html You should read it if your idea for your next travel was to use several "30-days Visa Exemption" or to use "2 or 3-entries Touristic Visa".
  6. Right, but looks like you didn't read my message and just look at the pictures IMHO they have no choice right now that to have a fares' board, so they put these, but prices "anomalies" are too important to not be noticed and "fixed" in a second time. Wait & see... BTW there are some places were the board is "perfect". They are far to be all "bad guys"
  7. Hi. A quick walk in South Pattaya area, an clearly many new of these fare boards appeared. In many case these boards are so new that they didn't yet write fares on it for the destinations listed Looks like a consensus from all motorbike stations that the lowest fare must be 30 Baht, and not 25 as asked by City Hall. Many prices I saw are at least 10 baht above what they should be using "25 B up to 2 km + 5 B per km above 2" rule. A few places have prices clearly 40 or 60% above the rules' price!... Looks like police will first have to check that every station has its board,
  8. Tcha-tcha. One step after another... It's already a little revolution to have to display their fares. It must be rather hard to swallow for a few "bad" motorcycle taxi drivers. Let's wait & see actions of future complaints at 1337 Pattaya City Line. Many places still without a board or with new empty ones, but I saw many boards with fares who seem to be the correct ones We should see many more boards by Monday. To be continued...
  9. A quick check on Google Maps for Wat Chai South Road station : Sukhumvit South Road : 30 B : ~2.3 km, 30 B ok Big C North Pattaya : 50 B : ~3.0 km, should be 30 B or 35 B (!) Soi 7 : 30 B : ~2.0 km, should be 25 or 30 B Sukhumvit Central Road : 40 B : ~3.4 km, should be 35 B City Hall Pattaya : 50 B : ~4.9 km, should be 40-45 B
  10. Here are examples of boards that are appearing at Motorbikes Taxi "stations" : Wat Chai market station (South Road along Wat Chaimongkron) Fares : - Entrance South Road (Sukhumvit?) : 30 B - Big C North Pattaya : 50 B - Soi 7 : 30 B - Sukhumvit Central Road : 40 B - City Pattaya (North Rd?) : 50 B 25 B min up to 2 km, then 5 B/km. From 5 km agree with price before. Edit: Add translation pic #1
  11. "the (motorcycles taxi) stations had no board that indicated the fare so the officers ordered every station to install one." Slowly but surely pattayadailynews.com:pattaya-officers-inspect-motorcycle-taxis

  13. Hi. From ThaiVisa again: Copy of the new document that you have to sign already in many Immigration Offices when you apply for an Extension of stay.

  15. http://www.pattayadailynews.com/pattaya-news/2014/07/04/pattaya-intensifies-its-control-of-motorcycle-taxis/ End of the article:
  16. Hi. I just saw this afternoon a group of about 10 Thai Navy soldiers checking motorbike taxi drivers who were in station in front of a 7/11. 2 soldiers were taking photo (or filming?) with phones; 1 soldier had some documents in hand; 1 taxi driver, facing him, was clearly very excited/irritated... I didn't see any police officer, only soldiers. A first time for me. Maybe more about that in newspapers or Internet tomorrow ?
  17. Don't know, but don't try today! Last article say they have until July 15 to register then they have to get the license in order at the public transport department. Maybe end of this month? But no doubt we will have more news from City Hall at this time. Yes, and true for many rules/laws these days in Thailand. I like :) BTW it's the first time I think I read an official fare for taxi. It's very important IMHO, and will help in the future.
  18. Hi. You will have to change your habit: the official price Walking Street - Soi LK is 25 Baht Pattaya City is right now reorganising the public transportation system and has announce the price to be asked by all motorbike taxi : 25 Baht for first 2 km , +5 Baht per additional km You can find this information at the end of this article http://www.pattayadailynews.com/pattaya-news/2014/07/02/military-orders-control-of-motorcycle-services-in-pattaya/ who follow this previous one from last week http://www.pattayadailynews.com/pattaya-news/2014/06/26/ncpo-orders-control-o
  19. Hi I think this topic should be in "Transport in Thailand"; it's not Pattaya relative. In Pattaya you don't have this problem: they usually refuse to use their meter.
  20. Still on Google Maps https://www.google.com/maps/@12.947114,100.888835,3a,75y,29.53h,87.01t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sKC7ZO7z86JZaEzky17g2sw!2e0 but I think this station has closed several years ago already.
  21. "plenty more around" ? Please tell us where ? There is scam in this Shell station for years. Sometime it stops, but always it come back... People continue to use this station though, because it's the only one in the South Pattaya area. You have to drive up to Sukhumvit to find other ones... and not every one has to do on Sukhumvit.
  22. Don't forget that Thai people who get "nearly free care" in governmental hospitals have to pay for most (or all?) at BPH. It's a good reason for many of them to not go there...
  23. A small clinic ?? What do you call a big clinic ?
  24. Hi Gary. I don't know how Lalana manage to run/work with just these 10 B/m2/month ? In my condo this amount now is just enough to pay for the staff (office, cleaning, security...) and we have to use the famous "special assessment" to get money for the budget (maintenance, electricity, taxes,...). This could be another topic subject...
