  1. Hi. From what I saw this office just opened. There is new temporary signage on ground floor and first floor. This new office is on 1st floor in the left-back aisle from the top of escalator, near Swensen's entrance. You can pay your bill and register/change contracts. No more need to go to North Naklua :)
  2. Hi. I don't have a car here, so no need of a car's GPS, but nowadays do you really need one when your phone or tablet can do (nearly?) the same job for free ? Google Maps on an Android phone seems to work very well :)
  3. From my point of view WU is very expensive and should be used for "emergency" only. I received some payments from WU, no problem to get money, but used it only because Google paid for the commission Rather than WU I would use the "Transfer without account" than (all?) Thai banks have. By example : http://www.kasikornbank.com/EN/Personal/OtherProducts/KMoneyTransfer/DomesticFundsTransfers/TransferwithoutAccount/Pages/TransferwithoutAccount.aspx To send money using Internet if you can't with your bank, you can use PayPal. I use it with my Kasikorn account. No problem again. Paypal earn its mo
  4. Depends... Not my experience. Yes you may have a small commission for the wire, but their is a max to this commission and the currency rate used by the Thai bank for such a transfer is better than the one you will get from your cash. If you just need small money yes maybe cheaper and easier to bring cash, but if you transfer your "money for the year" the bank wire will be the best option (and probably the only one because too much money to travel with it on you )
  5. You don't need a visa to get this Residence Certificate You don't need a visa to get a Thai Licence, but without a non-Imm visa you will have only 1 year validity each time, not 5.
  6. You must be very very lucky, because a Residence Permit usually cost about 300'000 baht, require many paperworks, and take years to get Lucky again. I always had to come back, in the afternoon or the day after, to collect my Residence Certificate From ThaiVisa topic like this one , I understand that the price donation at Jomtien is still 200 baht but that they have a "fast processing" option at 300 baht where you get your paper in ~10 minutes.
  7. Hi. Maybe "You" know it with this phonetic writing, but not sure if it's better than Wobbly's one..? Looking on the Internet you can find many attempts to write that in English, but not really one is good... Khow Yam Ki Sep (Wobbly) Kao Yum Gai Saap (Yokul) Khao Yam Kai Seep (google) Khaao Yam Gai Seet (thai-language) The only way to have it right is with ข้าวยำไก่ซี้ด I don't like KFC (and McDo either) but if I HAD to go there again, I could take this dish. Looks good https://kfc.co.th/rice.php?lang=en
  8. I thought it was Soi 13/2 ? with the Golden Girl, the Pump Station, ...
  9. I don't understand why so many people talk about these "agencies" for this kind of paperwork ? I can understand a few rare cases when they can be useful (sick, work,..) but for most people in Pattaya the Jomtien Immigration Office is an easy way, not far, not long (except high season...), and very helpful for special cases. Yes there is a "donation"... And I heard it's now 300 baht, no more 200
  10. You mean like that ?: Could be a good idea, but be careful now if you go/back Phratamnak Rd...
  11. Yes it is! I made it in March in Jomtien. Easy & free 2 remarks: - Why go to England? I think most people (including English) can get a new passport at their Embassy in Bangkok...? - If you make frequent travels to Cambodia, it can be a good option to use their E-Visa. You will spare 1 page of your passport each time
  12. Hi. I checked yesterday at Central Beach Festival: The inside balustrade is 1.20m tall; It's not a short one ! You must want it to go over it, or a "friend" to help you...
  13. Hi. I come back for Central Pattaya Beach Festival. The big sport shop on floor 3 (SuperSports) sell canoe/kayak FeelFree. In the right of the shop, sea side. Price from 19'000 for a simple single one to 32'000++ for a bigger and/or best equipped one. They have the FeelFree catalog and can order any of their products. :)
  14. 3 months ago: German Dies From 5th Floor Fall At Pattaya Mall http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2013/03/28/german-dies-from-5th-floor-fall-at-pattaya-mall/
  15. It may be your impression if you never wake up before 4PM, but in the morning there are not so many cars and it's a racing area, mainly between the North extremity and Central Rd, with cars over 60 or 80 km/h...
  16. Hi. Never has a bike stolen either, but know several farangs who have had their nice helmet stolen on car-parks of BigC or Lotus Sukhumvit. Better to have a back box for it if you have a brand helmet.
  17. Look at shadows of people: always opposite to the sea. That means pics taken in the early afternoon, and not so many people out in June afternoons: Damn too hot !
  18. Why "almost" ? More seriously, if you look at the artist-view of the project along the beach, you will see that they have some bench/seats under trees
  19. A few pics from this morning : They now reached Soi 10 Its last day (or days?) of life... --
  20. The sports shop upstairs (name Word Sport ??) in BigC 2ndRd use to have some at one time. The similar but bigger shop in Central Beach Festival may have them too, or at least information about them. There is a "nautical stuff shop" on South Rd (north side of the road, not far from big C) where I saw sea kayaks already, and every buoy, boat or floating device that can be towed by a boat. (name shop like SEAT ??) Maybe at the other big nautical shop on Sukhumvit (East side, between BigC & Lotus) too ? You can contact http://www.feelfreekayak.com/home/, I know they sell in Thaila
  21. OutOfSubject: Someone recently explained to me that on Pattaya's forum "IRL" in fact means "after a few beers already"...
  22. Does English language have a standard Chinesed orthography ? I don't know but I doubt. I am pretty sure many tonal languages may have the same problem, just because it not possible to write these tones with a Romanized alphabet. A kind of logic because it's in fact 2 words "white + lotus" but Thai language doesn't put any separation (space) between words. Nota, the Thai city บัวขาว write its name Buakhao on its site : http://www.buakhao.go.th/ Golden White Lotus
  23. Buakhao seems to be the one I read the more often...? Listen ซอย บัวขาว (Soi Buakhao) by Google Translate
  24. I suspect you tried to talk to them in a foreign language... and then I would not be surprised by the result You would get the same bad result if you don't use Chinese language to talk to Chinese ladies, Korean language to talk to Korean ladies, Russian language to talk to Russian ladies, etc.
