Hi. It could help to give us a more precise location, because "Soi Country Club, Lake Map Phrachan" is a bit unclear/vague to me...

No water in the wet season
Idefix replied to MeGoDanceNow's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi MM. I said "2 years" because of the thread in which I posted, who is from July 2012 It was a dry period, and that years technicians at MapPhrachan lake had to add new tubes in the lower part of the lake to be able to continue to pump water I saw them working on it when I went to the summer Buffalo Races Don't remember when the rain arrived that year, but main flooding's were late September / early October : I hope we will not have too much big flooding this year. Far better to have mainy medium rains that few strong ones to re-fill reservoirs -
No water in the wet season
Idefix replied to MeGoDanceNow's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Far worse this year than 2 years ago... I was at Huai Chak Nok yesterday, it's the second biggest Pattaya reservoir, in direction of Huai Yai I just never saw it so low in more than 10 years here These rocks covered of (dead) mussels certainly didn't use to be out of water Pattaya do need rain, a lot of regular rains during a long time Without that, there will be very big water problems in first months of 2015 -
Hi MM. From what they wrote on other forums, they forget here to write that it's "a 500 baht all you can drink" offer

Brooklyn Diner on Soi BuaKhao - UPDATED Jan. 12, 2015
Idefix replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
So true in too many places . Looks like anchovies price is similar to gold one! The very small pieces of anchovies we may find on some pizza really make them miserable And what are pizza prices at Brooklyn? I read back all this topic and didn't find any. I looked at their website and again not any pizza price I can see ?? -
Please read again Jacko. "O" is not "O-A"... It is very well explained on the link MM gave: http://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-visa/Thailand-Retirement-Visa.php
-
Not that bad. Just move it in the " World > Americas > USA > California > LA " sub-forum, then replace "Retirement" by "O-A" in the title, and everything will be fine
-
So there I was :) A bit grey around 1pm, but a fair number of people A good idea these tents: not for the sun this time but for a very light and short rain Wouldn't like to meet this one in a paddy field. A strong one ! And as always there is a fair next to the racing area : I think it was kind of Miss Isaan, but short, and I was too far and too late... The race is just near the lake Map Phrachan It's the main water reservoir for Pattaya, and I never saw it so low in

Hey! You would have put "O-A" in your first message, there would have had not any confusion... but we had to wait your message #13 to understand what you were talking about: an O-A from LA Consulate. And despite what you are saying, requirements and procedures are different for Retirement Extension (inside Thailand) and for O-A Visa (where requirements vary in each consulate/embassy/country...) that's why it's important to be precise when talking about "visa rules".

Hi. This Sunday 17 is Buffalo Racing at Pattaya reservoir :) http://www.inspirepattaya.com/pattaya/buffalo-racing-festival-2014-mapprachan-lake-pattaya-sunday-17th-august/

Yes MM, I know. Problem is that on a forum you must use the correct terminology or define precisely the context: - if about someone who live in Thailand: it's an "Extension of Stay based on being over 50", aka "on Retirement" - if from another country: probably about an "Long Stay" O-A Visa , or even just a non-O in some cases. In the initial message, we didn't know which case it was, so I asked. Except that it's not a Visa . You must just understand the definitions : - a Visa is only an "Authorisation to Enter a country". It's checked by Immigration and if valid you get an

Immigration emitted just last week a new Police Order about Immigration rules - dated of 30 June 2014 - the first one since 2008 ! - and there is absolutely no change on the different amounts of money required for the different cases, or on the different ways to prove it. :) Changes are few: (ED via) and mainly adding some very particular cases (like dependent of a Thai child)... Edit: Link towards ThaiVisa on this subject: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/749918-thai-immigration-issues-new-police-order-3272557-effective-august-29-2014/ and link to Rules 2014: http://ww

Yes I did read it, and who says Visa says Embassy or Consulate, outside Thailand. So for which country is this rumour ?
-
No, and not even sure what you are talking about... Visa? So outside Thailand?...
-
Some change have been announced already for ED-Visa (except for those who studies in real official schools or universities) : - Extension always will be 90 days max, no more 1 year - Maximum total duration of stay the will be 1 year (you will have to exit and get a new visa to continue (maybe?)) Some other changes begin to arrive: - In Bangkok area they announced that the minimum study will be now 8 hours per week (was 4 hours) Will make it a bit more difficult and expensive for those who still want ED visa.
-
Deleted. Reason: "Restaurant & food" forum
-
Edit: Looks like they need a 60 days period to apply such rule => mid-September ? If you know people in overstay who will be over 90 days overstay in September, you can recommend them strongly to regularize their situation by exiting Thailand by air and paying the 20'000 baht fine. At least it will "clean" their actual overstay and the risk of being banned...

Overstay Ban Rules now official on the Immigration website : http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/popup_anounce.html

It's *not* getting harder . You should read my post #29 just above yours. From the end of next month there will be no more reason to make this kind of visarun as you will get 30 days doing a simple extension at the Immigration Office. This info can be useful for those who chose to make a visarun in the 6 next weeks though.
-
Some good clarifications from Immigration. :) And some new facilities for tourists, like 30 days extension on visa exemption (and not 7 only) Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PrAVbWu7rE#t=355 or/and have a look on ThaiVisa: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/744440-longer-visa-exemption-extensions-begin-august-29-2014/
-
That is certain. Immigration said that, even if new rules are the same for everyone, their main targets are people from Russia, Vietnam & Korea. They both have easy access to Thailand (because of Visa agreement) but use this facilities and the visaruns on visa exemption to stay long time here... and work! You could do that... before. Trying that today if you already have number of Tourist Visa and/or Visa exemptions may see you be refused to exit, or refused to reenter. Trying that from August 12, and the probability will be 99%...

Tourist - true ones - are not concerned by this new story. Best option is to get a tourist visa in your country before you come. Will give you 60 days. I really don't know but would like to know too. People living here on back-to-back tourist visa are very few (maybe even none) among people I know, but yes I can believe that many live here this way, but how many ?? Reading reactions on ThaiVisa, you could believe that half foreign population of Pattaya is in this case, that it's the begin of the end for all condo projects, and that Pattaya will die very soon... . I have some

Please give details. What you said is: "It is cheaper to do yourself, but some don't have the resources necessary to do the transaction" I am sorry for them, but if they have neither the 800'000 in bank nor the 65'000/month they don't qualify for retirement extensions. Using a "agency" to get this stamp without the required founds is what conduct this person in jail...
