  1. Hi folks, Banglamung Clinic is a small Thai "clinic" on South Road not far of 3Rd Road. It's the typical "clinic" place where you can find an English-speaking doctor, nurses, medicine, and where they can manage the everyday small injuries or diseases. I use to go there since I live in Pattaya, and without being a frequent customer, I must have gone there maybe 5 times in last 10 years. I always paid between 300 and 500, never more. Today I went there again for a bad cough that doesn't want to stop. Not same people at reception; not the same doctors either, but ok for his job and
  2. From what I know there is no train to Rayong. There is only one line going from Bangkok to the north of Sattahip. The price is 36 baht to Bangkok and 6 (six!) to Sattahip. From BKK: http://www.railway.co.th/Ticket/list_station_stop.asp?IdTrain=283&Leg=en ToBKK: http://www.railway.co.th/Ticket/list_station_stop.asp?IdTrain=284&Leg=en check time & fare: http://www.railway.co.th/checktime/checktime.asp?lenguage=Eng
  3. An old topic that need a small update Last 2-3 years I was on the 18/1.8 Mbits 3BB ADSL package at 590 baht (+VAT) Since last month VDSL in available in Center Condo So I change for the 30/10 Mbits package, still at 590 baht PS: A few lucky people may get a lot faster Fibre package (100 or even 200 Mbits) but in most Pattaya condos Fibre can't be installed.
  4. A new shop "Mr D.I.Y." opened in Tukcom, floor 4 You can find nearly "any cheap thing" in this rather big shop, including many things found on Lazada or Chilingo. This can interest expats...
  5. No. See post #11. The tenant is a "house master", and as such has (part?) responsibility for the TM30.
  6. "Section 77 : Whoever fails to comply with the provision of Section 38, shall be punished with a fine not exceeding 2'000 Baht. If said person is a hotel manager, he shall be punished with a fine from 2'000 Baht to 10'000 Baht " In practice most fines I heard about were 1'600 baht An yes, everything is negotiable. I read about couples or family negotiating one only 1'600 baht fine for all of them.
  7. The TM30 is the form that results from the Section 38 of the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522 The rules is rather vague on who must fill this report: - 38: "The housemaster, the owner or the possessor of the residence // must notify the competent official of the Immigration" (TM30) - 4: "House Master" means any persons who is the chief possessor of a house, whether in the capacity of owner, tenant, or ..." The conclusion of this debate on ThaiVisa was that the owner (or agency who rents) should (normally) do the TM30, but the tenant should check that and make it himself if the owner
  8. I made my report online Tuesday at 11:59 and then went out for lunch. When I came back about 1 hour later, my report had been approved already
  9. Many farangs misunderstood this sign. It does not concern the whole Wat but just the main stage where Thai people went to bow/wai in front of the King's picture. There are 2 reasons for that: First one is that it could have perturbed & slow down the process where they were trying to keep a cadence of 10 seconds per row of people; Second and main one is that it would have been a huge lack of respect to show your back to the King!
  10. Here are a few pics from the "exposition" part, taken this morning : The main stage Same place yesterday evening
  11. Ok. I didn't go inside myself, but what I saw during most the day from my balcony are groups of people entering the Wat, sent on the right in the crematorium area where there was continuously prayers and some religious "objects" in front which people stop (pray?) some time. Then they walk towards the back of the Wat and come back looking the many stands/stalls and expositions about the king's life, with many places to be photographed in front of King pictures. Then then come take a flower or other "things"(?), and then to the main stage to offer it to the king. So looks like you skipped al
  12. ... and how many hundreds of litres of petrol ? Seriously, do you live in such an isolated area? in a place who get regularly flooding that lasts weeks? in an area where electric power cut of more than 24 hours are frequent ?... And for most expat members, who - I think - live in or near cities, please enlighten me of what kind of event could require that you keep "emergency supplies" for more than 24 hours ?...
  13. 9PM+ They have change their operating mode: now people are directly sent to the main stage with the big picture of the King, without the circuit that previous people had to follow inside the wat. It's a lot of faster than before; nearly a continuous flow of people entering in the wat! Direct consequence is that waiting people now are standing again, as the queue regularly move forward. The queue coming 2nd Road size is now only half the way in South Road and should disappear rather quickly. So pretty sure now that all those who are still in the queue will have the possibility to enter in t
  14. About noon, in front of my condo Tukcom Friendship South Road from Tukcom terrace South Road from Tukcom terrace Second Road not far from Royal Garden 16PM... still a huge crowd, but no more sun At about 5PM people started to sit and every body quickly did it Now 8PM and the street is still fully black of seated people! There are light, music and during the full day there was free drinks, food, cold towels distributed all along the queues by quantity of militaries, schoolchildren, scouts and quantity of volunteers. Many nurses and rescue people too, taking care of people
  15. making human chain to manage all these plants Full cleaning of South Road in front of the Wat Serious cleaning! Dance training on the stage near the back school --- Today 26 October --- People were queuing already from 7AM (or even earlier!) and already many people by 8:30AM 09:30 Not yet 10AM, but sun is hot despite a cloudy sky The aim of their long wait: facing the king for a last farewell 11AM
  16. Wat Chaimongkron earlier this week, during preparations for the funeral New night lighting A new monument, probably waiting for a statue of the late king same Nice with the lights Thousands of yellow plants have been brought in the wat Works in progress for the platform where people will bow in front of the king picture
  17. > What emergency supplies do you keep? Nothing! My condo is surrounded by shops selling food: mainly FriendShip & Tops, but also of course FamilyMart and no less than 3 7/11!... without counting all the restaurants and Thai street-restaurants... I usually have one big bottle of water (5 US gallons / ~19 litres) in advance, and also a few Mama cups instant noodles (in case I cannot get rid of my ST ) I don't see any reason to stock emergency supplies in the place/condo where I live.
  18. I earlier posted this pic in the Cremation thread:
  19. Yes it is being enforced, and there are a lot of reports of people that had to do it, with or without fine, on ThaiVisa by example ... BUT ... Looks like if you are someone already living here for some time, already in their files/computers, who already made extension(s) here, then they will not bother you with that TM30. It's just an observation. Nothing official.
  20. The 2nd notice is about closing day on October 13, 23 & 26 The 1st one is about the relocation of this office, still in The Avenue, but on floor 3 (?) near "legend chicken" (??) shop
  21. A new video of what's happened at the begining : https://www.facebook.com/ThaiVisaNews/videos/10156732252913012/ or here : https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1007012-new-unedited-footage-shows-british-pensioner-taking-machete-swipe-at-thai-man/
  22. You could, but I said "without declaring it to customs" A rumour I heard, but I don't know: I still have to pay my first fine in Thailand...
  23. Please MM, don't tell me that you don't understand how many laws work? or that you never heard of such things in other countries laws? Did you already heard of someone fine 100'000 baht for smoking a e-cigar? No, and it will never happen ! Fines for e-cigars are in fact fines for the generic categories of "selling/using illegal merchandise introduced in the country without paying the mandatory taxes". You would probably (?) get the same fines if you were trying to import a car in Thailand without declaring it to customs. Fines announced for these cigarette-buts-in-the-sand are i
  24. Not 100% true. A real fiber cable would not be damaged, but cables used in cities include a metal cable so that it can be detected by people who need to dig (for water, gas, electricity...). It's this added cable that make many "fiber cables" vulnérables to lightning.
  25. That seems unfair to me. Even the cheapest UPS can protect you against surges arriving on your electric line but if the lightning fall very near your house there is another phenomenon: induction. Every electric or electronic device can then been damaged, even if not switched on, and even if not connected to an UPS or electric plug! The only protection is a Faraday cage. Data centers and many military places integrate a Faraday cage in their building structure.
