  1. - I made 2 purchases again last week with Lazada. Always very happy with them. I only buy from sellers in Thailand though. - Lazada has many independent sellers, same as eBay or AliExpress. Always possible to get a 'not so good seller' on each site; one of reason why you must check their rating before buying. - Factory refurbished phones are frequent on online shops, but it's usually clearly announced. It would be a fraud to hide this fact, an surely Lazada, eBay or others would remind rules to this seller. - About custom fees, none of the items I bought from China on AliExpress got any
  2. Apparently they discussed again about that at Pattaya City Hall this afternoon, and the Mayor insisted that 99% (!) of signs are not correct/legal and that a change must be made for safety and beauty... ?? Here is a first article (in Thai!) : http://manager.co.th/Local/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9600000078685 Waiting for an English site to make a rough translation, soon...
  3. This entrance is bigger than you may imagine. It's here for years already, and was here when they made the test with their bigger firemen truck. This entrance was not a problem. And signs had been said conform to the law/rules at this moment. On Thai sites they give more information about this law enforcement, and the concern would not be about the height of these signs (5.2 m, usually respected) but about the fact they are so many with so big structures that they could be a problem for firemen to deploy their ladders...
  4. Hi Time for me to make a 90-Days report again So I checked the Immigration website, https://www.immigration.go.th/content/online_serivces and made my online reporting, https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online Yes, it's working again
  5. That's a bit strange because seems to me it's not that long that they made the last height-check on Walking Street. Begin of this year or end of last one ? What they made last time was driving at very low speed a big firemen truck, and taking note of all signs too low. Owners then got a delay to fix this problem, and only very few signs got removed a few weeks later. I just come back from WS and seems to me that the huge majority of the signs are high enough...?
  6. Humm... I don't know. I just used it on my PC and it was ok, but looks like you may need a good anti-virus and/or Ad-Block to avoid this kind of unwanted redirection... Unsure how this site behaves on a phone but this mobilelife.co.th seems very suspect to me Sorry for that. Be careful.
  7. FMOVIES : https://fmovies.is/ I thought this site had been closed long ago for copyrights reasons, but just noticed it is still running now. It's allow you to watch movies in streaming on your PC, a little like a Kodi box.
  8. How Star Wars "borrowed" from Valérian : etc.
  9. From tonight: Very fan of this French science fiction comics series in the 70s. An incredible universe. For a 50 yo comics, it still looks very modern compared to today's movies, IMHO.
  10. * Do NOT look at this video if you didn't already watch this episode * YouTube: 8 details you might have missed on the season 7 premiere of 'Game of Thrones'
  11. Re-watched the Season 6 last 2 weeks A short summary of those who will *not* be in Season 7 :
  12. Hi. I don't know which one is the "best", but I used Open office during years and was very happy with it. Also it's certainly the one who has the biggest community of developers working and checking it. BTW, but it depends a lot of the usage you make of these Office tools, I moved on the GoogleDocs, GopogleSpreadSheets,... tools associated to GoogleDrive (the Google cloud) and it's perfect for the reduced usage I have. There is no big set of programs to install on your computer and you can access/edit your files from anywhere. A very good set of tools IMHO.
  13. I think there is no more ATM not charging this fee, and that at most ATMs the fee is now 200 baht. AEON who didn't charge any fee during a long time now charges 150 baht Citibank who also was free (for EU cards?) now charges 180 baht Bringing cash (EUR, GBP, USD) is not a bad idea nowadays...
  14. This is a system present on some banks ATM that you also find in some restaurants or in shopping malls. YOU MUST ALWAYS REFUSE this option ! It's a service managed by an intermediary company between the seller and the card company, and the final rate that you will get - once include intermediary fees - will be very bad ! Not far to be a rip-of/scam IMHO
  15. Not really. Only your passport is required to go to their office. Anyone can make the reporting for you, and I already saw motorbike taxi drivers at the 90-Days report desk in Jomtien BTW they are redesigning/redoing their Immigration website, and there is an entry in the menu for the 90-Days report, so there is hope for "soon"...
  16. Walking Street was very quiet this morning at ~6AM Clearly every agogo, club, disco was closed long ago because none of their staff to be seen as usual chatting, drinking or eating in the street. No noise on WS at the level of Marine/Peppermint as JP Bar and the opposite bar with loud late live band (Heart Rock?) were closed and empty.
  17. Never used it, but BigC does it too: http://www.bigc.co.th/?___store=en&___from_store=en Also don't forget that BigC Xtra offers free delivery, if your problem is transport
  18. I just think they don't spend their money in these places where you saw them. By example what about the gemstones & jewelry huge shops, like the one near Pattaya City Mall? Its park is often full of big busses and - I didn't really count - but they seem a huge majority of Chinese ones. Operators would not continue to bring thousand of tourists there every day if none was buying. Same thing for the big Duty-Free shop on Sukhumvit. Their bill there can be huge!
  19. How that? All recent TOT reports show that the average Chinese tourist spend more than the average Western tourist. Wikipedia also indicates US$180 per day for Chinese tourists against US$160 for the average tourist in Thailand.
  20. + 1 or more trip(s) for you re-entry-permit(s) Still not worth it IMHO...
  21. Don't forget Brooklyn Dinner, at Soi Buakhao and Soi LK My favorite place for pizzas
  22. No, I meant Saturday evening, but didn't see it was already Saturday (4 minutes in!) when I posted So everything should be back to normal from now :)
  23. Clubs, Bars and Agogo "on Walking Street" had to close at 2AM. Tonight they will have to close at Midnight.
  24. Cannot speak for the full World, but in my country the battle was not to "eliminate Airbnb" but to avoid unfair competition with hotels who pay licenses, hosting taxes, revenues taxes... Problem also was that more and more professional renters were using Rnbnb because of these advantages. Last a heard is that - at least in French biggest cities - Rnbnb will now pay hosting taxes, will give listing of renters to the Revenues Tax Service, and will limit to 120 the number of nights you can rent your house per year. Seems a rather good solution IMHO.
