  1. Why that? The fare is 35 baht in Bangkok (up to 1 km) and they do use the meter I think it's 5 or 6 baht per km for next 10 km, then the km rate increases with distance. So 60 baht for up to 2 km is a rather good rate for Pattaya taxi.
  2. My bet is about the Bangkok Taxis who trade in Pattaya (without Taximeter of course) as it seems there are more and more of them. Pattaya is far more profitable for them. The big question: why this 2-months delay ??
  3. Hi BeerBelly, It's not misinformation, it's information from the official Department of Land Transport site ! http://www.dlt.go.th/th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3470:in-case-of-foreigner&catid=131:2011-09-08-02-09-23&Itemid=88 You need to show "an invalid/expired driving license" to get a new 1-year one. BTW I think your topic is bad titled has you didn't "renew a one year license" but you got a 5-years license when you had a 1-year license. It's another procedure : http://www.dlt.go.th/th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3471:renew&catid=131:2011-09-08-02-09-23&Itemid=88
  4. Thailand Ban rules approved for overstayers, in application from March 2016 Blacklist awaits visa-overstaying foreigners http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general/789609/blacklist-awaits-visa-overstaying-foreigners " - For cases of surrender, - - those who overstay their visa by up to one year will receive a one-year re-entry ban, - - and for more than one year they will be banned from re-entering Thailand for three years. - - Those with more than three years' overstay will blacklisted for five years. - - Excessive overstay of five years or more will result in a re-entry ban of 10 years. - In cases of arrest, - those who overstay their visas by up to one year will be banned from re-entering Thailand for five years - and those with more than one year's overstay period will be blacklisted for 10 years. " Nota: The rule for short overstay (
  5. I remember a time where requests were "Where can I find a nice place for 10'000 baht/month max"... 36'000 baht is very expensive compared to what most people are paying. BTW the location is not that good, no easy access to bahtbus, and for 3 weeks look at the monthly rate; it could be cheaper
  6. You can now do it in Jomtien, but Jomtien can't do it... They have to send your files to Bangkok. You will still suffer the delay but no more the need to go to Bangkok...
  7. You need an onward ticket to get your visa ? This site could help you. (Found on the Internet. Not tested myself) Fly Onward Book an onward ticket for only $9.99 https://flyonward.com/ You get a cheap *real* reservation for 24 or 48h
  8. Hi. I think that there is no more problems (for some time already) for people with a visa. You could look on ThaiVisa forum who usually has the last news for this kind of question.
  9. The METV is not yet available, so nothing should change on actual visas until November 13. BTW if your intention is to get a 2 or 3-entry visa soon for a "long stay as tourist" in Thailand, I recommend you to think about it and eventually get this visa before November 13th, because the probability is high that 2 & 3-entry will not be available anymore...
  10. Not really: google translate and press the Listen icon.
  11. Looks like you missed the "mainly" in my message Who Drives on the Wrong Side of the Road? Wikipedia:
  12. Why do you contradict me? 90% of the circulation in the world is "driving on the right". A few islands (mainly) decided to chose the wrong side...
  13. Hi. My way to travel in Thailand is nearly always the same. I take VIP bus to go "there", by night if far in Isaan, and I rent a motorbike (a small one, model depending if a passenger or not) to circulate around this "base camp". I don't do long distances on a motorbike: uncomfortable and dangerous. I understand your "sissy stuff" MM. Maybe for when I will be old Again, nothing wrong to have/use a car. Just not needed in my case.
  14. ^ Bikes allow that too
  15. Hi. I never drove a car in Thailand... I don't want, and I didn't even asked my Thai DL for cars, only for bikes. - I don't need a car - In Thailand they drive on the wrong way! - I never drove a car with the wheel on the right - I never drove an automatic car; I would not know how to use it ... I can understand that those with a family or off big cities may need a car though.
  16. > No alcohol sales from 1 a.m. the 27th until midnight on the 27th. Wrong MM They wrote ๐๐.๐๑ and not ๐๑.๐๐ From Midnight + 1 minute (night 26 to 27) to Midnight (night 27 to 28), so in other words: the full 27 of October.
  17. You have pics of almost everything above, except a few secondary statues and a few ones too gay or too strange(?) for me. What you don't see here is the size of these statues. Some of them are huge. Others are real size, and then allow your (or your model) to interact with the statue, like the last pic where she is waiting for you to sit and kiss her There was a "charming Thai couple", well dressed, taking pics with a nice camera on a tripod. The lady really was happy, smiling and having fun "playing" with the statues. A small group, like 2 guys + 2 BGs, could have a good time here, sure. From loveartpark.com:
  18. From my visit this morning, it's the kind of place that is fun when you bring a girl to take some funny and/or kinky pictures, but I would not pay more than 500 baht for 2 for that. The actual 500 baht for farang and future(?) 700 baht price is way too much! A Go player ? A second one? What are they doing in this park?? I like this last pic
  19. Hi. This WE is the Grand Opening of Love Art Park From http://www.inspirepattaya.com/pattaya/love-art-park-grand-opening-day-23rd-25th-october-2015-2/ , I understand it's free today and tomorrow, against 700 baht normal farang price. http://www.loveartpark.com/en/
  20. Why choosing such a lost/isolated city ? And no problem to get a visa ? Kalifornia
  21. Less than 2 hours last month to get the email with "Notification 90 days is Approved" :)
  22. Look at this image from post #12, the green choice
  23. Hi. Following my post #42 on previous page, I made last week another attempt to open a second account at Kasikorn next t Tukcom, but go the same negative result: no account without a Residence Certificate from Immigration or an Attestation from your Embassy, even if you already are a client of the bank... So yesterday I went to Jomtien Immigration to get this document. 25 minutes & 300 baht later I got it; fast & easy process . This morning I was back at Kasikorn. - First was "We have insurance. 2'500 baht"... . Please Kasikorn, I know your staff get some incentive on new contracts they get, but please stop them to insist so much *each time* for such products we don't need ! - Then "You not have work-permit?" then "So you cannot open account"... . I had to be very diplomatic explaining I was retired here and then could not have a WP. She took 5 minutes looking at her screen and looking again and again at stamps in my passport, then went ask advice at a superior: "We need guarantee". Ok. What kind? "Guarantee" ?? Ok, quickly the fact I own my condo interested her. I had my "docs book" with me, including condo's Chanote copy that I gave her. Look like it was the 1st time she saw one??.. even if she is not new here. It took forever before she asked her superior, again. I understand that the problem was "your name not same". Reason: Kasikorn uses Latin alphabet while the Chanote uses Thai alphabet. Not MY fault! - Now came the problem of the Card. I initially said that I wanted a secondary account to receive some payments, just a passbook and no card, but now she affirms I can't get an account without a Card! "Cannot. Mandatory in computer". I have a Card already with my main account, and don't need and want one with this new account. Again approval of the superior made it suddenly possible... - Ultimately, after signing 4 blank Thai forms I could not understand (?), after taking 10'000 baht deposit on my main account, and after smiling for a CAM picture, I got my passbook for my secondary account... finally. . Took me 40 minutes! Make me laugh thinking about that now, but what a galley! Procedures have change a lot in this Kasikorn agency. I opened my first account here as a tourist, with 500 baht and an hotel address... I am really disappointed by their new attitude. I would now recommend people to go to the agency in Central Beach Festival who seems to be the friendliest right now in Pattaya.
  24. Hi MM. I am surprised that IPB can't help you as you have their up-to-date forum release ?? They is clearly a security hole somewhere in the software... While waiting to find it, or a new release that would fix it, you maybe can block this malware action by blocking the "two relatively rare functions" that it uses "to decode itself to runnable code". Depends of your hosting, but if you have access to php.ini, something like: disable_functions = eval, base64_decode, gzinflate You of course must *not* block functions your forum needs http://serverfault.com/questions/169489/php-evalgzinflatebase64-decode-hack-how-to-prevent-it-from-occurring-a http://php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.disable-functions
  25. Hi MM. I just made a post and indeed the Post action seemed never appear to complete... It took probably 1 minute before the topic appears with my message in. Edit: I checked the time on this post. Just a bit more than 2 minutes ! A 120 sec timeout somewhere in the code on an action blocked for some reason ?
