Interesting, I have never seen immigrations cleared in a different location from customs. I can't figure out how they would know in Chiangmai that you didn't clear customs in BKK as some people would only fly the BKK/Chiangmai leg and not need to clear customs.

I have not flown from UK but I am pretty sure you will clear customs in BKK. The flight from BKK to Chiang Mai will be a domestic flight.

As I recall the last time I transferred points it cost me as the account holder to pay $60.00 to do the transfer. In this cast I didn't have enough points for a full ticket and the guy in question had 3 people transfer him points to get the number he needed. In my mind it didn't save him much. I am not sure how BA works but I have gotten tickets in some one else's name using my points. No real hassle.

I don't drink much. Never drink beer and at most will have 2 mixed drinks in a night. The remainder of the time I drink soda or pineapple juice. I am happy and on one seems to mind. Just do what you want. I have learned I do not baby sit the drunks, they are on their own.

I stayed there before, it was a good deal. I walked to that small town to eat and such. I don't have any real interest in Patong so the taxi ride is no big deal. Last time I never went into Patong. I stayed in Patong the trip before. It is 30,000 points a night now. I figure staying in a great hotel for free I can afford some taxi fares if I want. On this trip I plan to take the girl I met in Pattaya on my August trip. Should be fun, I think. She doesn't drink so we will not be going to many bars. So long as we can find food and a beach I think we will have fun.

I'm not really to particular which beach. Last time (10 years ago) I stayed on Lamai beach and liked it because it was quiet (not may beach vendors). I will have someone with me and a scooter so close to bars is not my biggest consideration. I would like a pool. Up to $75.00 a night would be good. By decent I mean clean, good bed and good A/C. True story, a buddies dog had puppies. He put them in the paper "free to good home" and did not get a single call. The next weekend he advertised them for $50.00 each and sold them all. Said he got phone calls even after they were all sold. It makes you wonder.

Leumas, I can't help too much. I will say you can wear a thong on Pattaya beach. I have also had the ex-wife in a thong at a hotel pool. We took photos in both places and no one said anything.

I stayed there and the breakfast at the Edge is great IMHO. I never made it to any of the other meals but expect they would be good as well.

I get a flu shot every year. I fly somewhere around 100K miles a year. The airplanes are just a germ factory. I do anything I can to avoid getting sick.
