Denny - comparing "walter mitty" to the vile crap you you posted above? Walter Mitty refers to you, not your family, wife, or daughter. Your dreams of my relationship with/lies to my family have been debunked several times. No, you are lucky I am not in Pattaya next month, as when I see you face to face it will not be pretty. You made a mistake. Our next words will be exchanged in person.

And changing your name to Walter Mitty indicates what? A sense of humor? Dead-on accuracy in judgement?

PHOTOS from R&R's b'day party at CATZ 17/11/07
Hub replied to Pieman's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Great Pics and really crushed I couldn't extend and make that party, would have if I could have, - best wishes to both Rs. I was relatively sure that rose was going to Winston, ala proverbial olive branch!! Hub -
Tim Royal Residence/Boutique Hotel
Hub replied to stjames1892's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Just stayed there for 12 nights. Got a hot deal rate of $50 us initially with no breakfast that went up to $60. Room was new and OK, nothing spectacular. They charge 200 baht/day for internet. Staff was friendly. Certainly better deals to be had. Found a better deal halfway through but didn't want to make the wife move. Hub -
late night transportation cost from the airport
Hub replied to walt3's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I wouldn't "negotiate" anything. I would go directly to the official taxi meter stand, where the lines should be small at that time of night (they were for us a 1 am 3 weeks ago). The official fee should be around 1,050 and the taxi will be traceable if any problems arise. No real difference (and better in some cases) between the meter taxis and some of the cars Toom will send. -
Forgot to mention that Taxi had a 43 on the best ball - we both played well but lost to a team playing better. Handicaps were a little in question , as Smiffy the 28 handicaper for the Euros hit a 275 yd drive on a par 5, followed by a wood of 225+ to the green over water to the green, where he lipped out his eagle putt. SteveO amazingly went 2 nil for the Americans! Had a great time playing in that as well other golf days with taxi, duece, matt, et al Hub

Verified from experience, including a few of the shops you previously recommended here. The right places have high end copies, but you sometimes pay 800 baht or more. We did surprisingly get some very nice bags for relatively cheap up in Mae Sai after looking around. Maybe some of the copies come from the burma/china route. Hub

Come on Dunghie, work something out! Who's going to bring the good saki if you are not there? I thought you and Tomo were on the splits? Hub

Will be sorry not to see the pink armbands out on the course. Hub

Same here, but will they be golfing on skis? Looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends. hub

It seems Denny's modus operandi is to choose the vessels with a little mileage. BGs included.

His name is Khun Meechai - and meechai has become Thai slang for a johnny

Rideher Cup and November Golf Programme
Hub replied to doghaus's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
At least that will give me time to get my slice working! For a guy that usually fades the ball, I seem to have "no pompem" hitting duckhooks into the drink on that particular hole! Even my best round I had there came after a niner on that bastard. That's a one-hole forfeit during a match for any kissy-kissy noises or lub-u-too-mutts on the cellphone! See you guys November! Rideher Cup and November Golf Programme
Hub replied to doghaus's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Doggie: I just hope we don't start on Course C with that par 5 dogleg left over water - my usual 8 or 9 on that hole will put me out of the tournament almost immediately! -
Sailfast: You are right - I just ran it again and the lower fare is for coming back on Tuesday the 5th. Cut and pasted from their website when I did a search: Fare Details Total fare Passenger Fare Tax/Surcharge USD 1,034.69 Adult x 1 808.00 226.69 Total fare USD 1,034.69 Itinerary Details Date Flight Departure Arrival Stops Duration Aircraft Remarks Class 1 January CX841 JFK 09:00 HKG 14:00+1 0 16:00 777 eTicket Restricted Economy (M) 3 January CX713 HKG 09:05 BKK 10:50 0 02:45 744 eTicket Restricted Economy (M) 5 February CX754 BKK 11:35 HKG 15:20 0 21:35 773 eTicket Restricted Economy (M) 5 February CX840 HKG 19:00 JFK 21:10 0 777 eTicket Restricted Economy (M) Note on fares The fare quoted is valid for this itinerary only. Any changes in date, flight or traveling period may result in a different fare. So is you wait a day to come back, you save ~$125. I don't know if its too late, but figured i'd post it just in case you and your friend could save a few bucks by staying an extra day. Hub

Sailfast: Just curious as I ran dates on the CX website and got $1,019 all in for your dates - worth another look? Hub
-
Sailfast: You possibly could get it a little cheaper if a deal comes up like the DOTM, but who knows? Luckily, we hit the DOTM and are flying JFK-BKK RT for around $850 all in later this year. Also, Cathay in my experience almost never charges for a HK layover. Have you seen this website - your price seems consistent with thiers? http://www.angeltravel.com/Airfare/Cathay_...one_n_Fare.html Hub

It used by be OK for 2 and 2 with the caddies riding on the back, unfortunately many courses now require 1 caddy and one golfer per cart.

Scalawag: Thank you for the informative and detailed post, including the pics, as is typical of most of your posts. After staying at almost only one-bedroom suites in and around Pattaya over the last 5-6 years, this place seems a real gem in terms of price, location, etc. I am only wondering if it a proper place to have a wife and kid around; on a solo trip it seems a no brainer. I am so familiar with Soi 13/PostOffice/etc it would be a great place for me. Hub

Has Dr Aree got a clinic ?
Hub replied to torrenova's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
She's gotten way too popular, partly because of this forum, and it is much harder to get an appointment than is was 5-6 years ago. So I agree, no time for a clinic. -
To each his own, but calling Kiss a "top restaurant" seems a bit over the top as IMO neither the farang or Thai food is very good. Hub

Joe: I am not sure where the attitude and sarcasm in your post originate from, I was just posting my recent experience and you come off as quite adversarial. To answer your questions: Well, since there are no clinics in Thailand except Thai clinics, that kind of narrows their options a bit. Well, getting over your sarcasm there, there apparently are the free or very cheap clinics and then there are hospitals that one has to pay for. There is a difference and that was the point, which I think most would find relatively clear. What care is indicated for dengue that you think a badly staffed clinic couldn't provide? How would I know "what care is indicated'? Go back and read my post. All I said was that his grandmother and the owner of the business where she works did not want to take him to the local Thai clinic as they were not confident he would receive proper care and this concern was passed on to hi mother and I. You've obviously got a bit of experience in this area, but you don't need to come off like you did. It makes you look bad, to be quite candid. Hub

My stepson got Dengue last November and got very sick. Had to be hospitalized (PIH) and was scary for a few days. By the way, he and his grandmother live not far from Pattaya (where the grandmother has worked and lived for several years) however in a wooded and heavily vegetated area as compared to Pattaya. They did not have confidence in the local Thai clinics and din't want to take him there. I think some of the deaths may not be just due to the weakness of the individual but from the poor care they recieve.
