  1. Hummm, sounds like what Boeing tried to do with 737 Max.
  2. EVA has offered all FA's that work through strike double pay.
  3. I've heard several reports the internet on EVA is pretty crappy, slow and expanses of no internet. Just flew EVA out of Seattle Thursday morning in PE. There was two flights both to Taipei leaving within half hour of each. Our plane the later had very few passengers. In PE only 16 passengers with a capacity of 32 and Business appeared to have only a dozen passengers. Having flown EVA out of San Francisco for last 15 years, every flight was always at or near capacity. Three trips out of Seattle none anyway near capacity. I found the current movie selection on EVA pretty good, a lot of
  4. I first switched to EVA about 2004 because of EVA's Elite Class (now PE), because I got tired of flying Cathay's slave ship class long haul. Few airlines offered a PE product at that time. EVA's Elite (was called something else then) product was great. EVA flew the 747 Combi and elite was in the lower deck front nose area. Which was great plenty of room and quite. Then Elite went for about $200 to $300 over economy class. Over the years depending on travel volume and oil prices I've paid from $700 to $2,100 for the most discounted PE fare. Always had free seat selection, limited selection offe
  5. I posted this in the other EVA thread, this is my experience with the EVA new fare family: EVA's new fair structure, if you purchase discounted airfare you have to pay for seat selection. $40US Long-haul & $15 regional. The good all seats were open for selection in PE except the two window basinet sides, for a June trip. EVA's price structure appears to me to be more expensive now, even shopping the sales. Paid last 2 years for PE $1,100/$1,000US for PE, which included free seat selection though limited availability. This year for PE $1,600 plus $110 for seat selection. And oil prices
  6. EVA's price gouging is starting to make me look at other airlines. Singapore, Cathay and Jal are entering my region. I already scored a Biz fare at a great rate on Singapore for my October trip.
  7. If I had purchased a standard fare which includes complimentary seat selection it would have cost me $2,404 US RT ($700 more). I'll pay the fee. All this adds up when your paying for 3 seats.
  8. Effective from 05 March 2019, if the Fare Family you have purchased does not include free seat selection, or if you can't select a seat of your preference for free, you can choose to pay the following fee, depending on the Fare Family purchased, to select a seat of your choice in advance. Effective from 05 March 2019, the fee for Extra Legroom Seats (formerly Exit Seats) on the long-haul flights will be adjusted to USD150. The new seat zones will open for sales on all flights departing from 11 March 2019. Premium Economy Class Short-haul routes: $15 USD Long-haul routes: $4

  10. More naïve bullshit. Additionally, many of the mainlander (China) US citizenship birthing houses take advantage of this.
  11. This is total naïve bullshit! It has been law for many many years in the US that hospitals have to treat anybody whether they can pay or not.
  12. I have purchased Avacodos from roadside stands Northwest(?) of Loei (where they grow strawberries/grapes). The Avocados much larger than Hass, so my expectations where low (thinking flavorless Gator Avocados). To my surprise the flavor and texture was close to the Hass variety. We bought several bags (forgot what we paid) and made a very tasty Guacamole.
  13. I also got the invalid server page after making my donation in PayPal and being redirected back to Simple Payment Solutions web page. PayPal confirmed my donation.
  14. Could forum member(s) sponsor Pattaya Talk for a month by donating $150. That member then could be acknowledged by a page banner "Pattaya Talk brought to you by fill-in-member-handle(s)". This would only require 12 sponsors a year. I would be willing to sponsor a month, through PayPal. Thanks Frostie for your hard work keeping Pattaya Talk online. I just think allowing another Bar to become Pattay Talk would be an affront to MM's philosophy and memory.
  15. Then approaching 60 years. The original engine configuration was eight turbo jets in groups of two.
  16. They are flying relics 1950 designed and the aircraft flying today are approaching 50 years. Notice the black soot trails when in flight.
  17. As a Lifetime Diamond I have found this hotel rather tight fisted with upgrades and the executive lounge minimal, I find this hotel to be of poor value and do not even consider it when in Pattaya. In Bangkok I stay at the Conrad (more upscale than Pattaya) frequently and almost always get a suite upgrade, always cheaper rate than the Pattaya Hilton.
  18. Your Rinny, then Rin Tin Tin attackes the bad guy.
  19. CT Scans are very expensive. In the US your CT Scan bill would be about your total bill 58,000 baht. Yes, better safe than sorry and you got hell of a deal, much better than you would get at home (US). If it was a heart attack you waited too long to go to the hospital. Count your lucky stars it wasn't!
  20. Can someone post a link where I can buy VIP Arrival passes please.
  21. No, Eva does most of their capacity upgrades at the gate just before boarding. They call the passengers names and give them upgraded boarding passes. Most of the upgrades I hear summoned are Chinese. I fly out of San Francisco and the Eva flights are primarily Chinese/Taiwanese. I've retired and now will be flying out of Seattle or Vancouver, BC. We'll see how that goes, I will be flying more frequently too. Years ago I upgraded via points to Laurel. West Coast flights leave for Asia just after midnight and arrive in Asia one day later. When checking in on this upgraded ticket at the Laure
  22. I've been flying EVA out of San Francisco for well over a decade, flying only Elite class. I've flown various times, during political/medical crises, always the cheapest elite fare and tried all days of the week to find low capacity flights. Every EVA flight I've taken all flight classes have been at capacity or near capacity. I've always wondered if EVA sells standby tickets to fill flights. So I hope they add additional flights to the schedule, if not just means higher prices. Additionally, Thai only flies out of LAX for the entire West coast. I just bought tickets for three for after t
