I think it would be somewhere down south in your neck of the woods. Penang has an appeal to me for it's history and cultural mix. Indonesian, Indian, Malaysian, Chinese, British, Portuguese, Dutch, Thai, Arabic influences (Did I forget anybody?). I know it's not Thailand but damn close. Maybe Hat Yai or Langkawi would better suit me? I have never been to the region but I will go there one day for a look see.
