  1. I would think that the boxes are in a similar position to Eva's but I do not know 100%.
  2. ajsp Thai are only dearer if the trip is for more than a month, anything less and they are competitive. 1974 BR067 arrived at BKK from TPE on time but then was delayed at BKK for 95 minutes extra, I guess some problem arose with the cargo, it arrived LHR 2101 and left about 95 mins late, more Fullers Pride please. :)
  3. I booked direct with Eva today, out 03/11 return 16/12 £472, bargain as Thai are about £200 dearer.
  4. Eva Air web site have another promotion on until 11th September, for me going early November and returning mid December £472 economy, £926 Elite and £1636 Premium. I can probaly get the fare £20 cheaper through an agent but I would rather book with the airline if there is not too great a difference in price. ps: The Premium fare is blood good.
  5. Wow firth I put some dates in around when I will be going and it came up as £370, I will probably still go Eva but that price is brill, the tax must be half of the fare.
  6. I have been having a look around the www and Bangkokflightservices offer a buggy and fastrack for 1600thb, sounds OK to me. For departure it is 1600 for fastrack and lounge, again seems a decent deal.
  7. For the 777 flight, Thai airways uk web site states the aircraft is a Boeing 777-300ER, when you look at SeatGuru it shows 306 economy seats with a 32" pitch and 18" wide. I don't know if this type of aircraft goes u/s in Bangkok if one of the other variants would be used.
  8. I fancy using the Fasttrack service with Buggy for arrival and maybe Fasttrack and lounge for departure, any recommendations? TIA
  9. I don't know if the 30 day tickets are extendable for a change of date fee. if it were possible, you could buy a 30 day LHR-BKK return with Thai for say £510 then pay a change date fee of £100 bringing the total to low £600s as opposed to the higher fares.
  10. Not using Skyscanner etc I compared fares on the Eva and Thai web sites from LHR to BKK, out 04/11 return 16/12 Economy class, and it was £548 Eva and £994 Thai. I posted this on the Thai Airways Facebook page and they replied that Thai Airways Fares are being reduced from Tuesday, somehow I still cannot see them being competitive with Eva. Thai do offer reasonable fares for under 30 days but anything over 30 days seems expensive.
  11. Thanks for that news Brown1950, I was sure that they would need more direct flights to BKK for the high season. BR do extremely well with their Premium Economy (Elite) cabin, I have always thought that TG could reduce the number of Business class seats and have Premium on the LHR route.
  12. I believe that the A380 starts on the LHR route on Wednesday, looking forward to a TR. :)
  13. FBF If you google the buget air name there are mixed reviews, it seems like they add on 2% for Credit Cards, the company is based in the Netherlands, so maybe you lose some consumer rights. Maybe there is a more reputable travel firm which can offer you a fare a tad higher than budget air although £1300 is a massive saving
  14. Also some airlines, Emirates and Etihad are two, give free Limo transfer up to 70 miles in the UK on Business class. My friend he goes Emirates economy and Business class return because of the longer return flight and also you are on a downer for the return bit.
  15. Well I found out off Flyertalk one answer to my query. There is no seat 59D as that is the emergency exit hatch for the crew rest area on the 380, so plenty of leg room for 60D. I guess to book the economy seats in the rear of the upper deck you have to contact Thai airways office directly.
  16. Just a quick couple of points on the A380 LHR-BKK service. With the seat plans for the A380 (inc other airlines) row 59 I think D seat is missing, anyone know why this is? Also do TG block the economy seats upstairs on the 380, I just tried a dummy booking and the TG web site only allowed booking up to row 73. TIA ps: my dummy fare for 22/7-16/8 was £1100.
  17. Cheers for that Goldpanner, our choices for a direct flight from LHR to BKK are getting less, but BA? Not for me thank you.
  18. After security there is a Fullers London pride pub/restaurant, Pride is about £4.20 per pint. There is a Wetherspoons in the check in hall, but I have not been there. It is a very long and up and down walk to the gates,, a couple of shops near to the gates but I think only Boots and Costa coffee. IMHO as it is a new Terminal it could be a lot better but I suppose LHR is trying to squeeze a pint in a half pint pot, check out the LHR web site for more details. A small Singha at Mango Tree, BKK is 187 baht plus tax, be warned. Have agreat trip.
  19. Be careful where you buy your beer when at Suvarnabhumi whilst waiting for your flight to LHR, at Mango Tree it is 187thb + 7% so 200 Baht for a Small Singha, I make that £8 a pint, a nice pint of London Pride at LHR T2 is a bargain £4.20. At least Thai airways are a little more generous with the booze than Eva. :)
  20. I have just done some quick sums, the A380 has 435 economy seats, the 747-400 I think has 325, so one A380 per day= 435 seats, 2 xB747=650 a loss of 215 economy seats per day, low season Mai pen rai but high season? I just returned on Thursday on TG910 and there were only a handful of empty economy seats, and that was midweek.
  21. On last Sunday night at 10pm I think it was on Nat Geo, "21st century sex slaves" this programme covered Thailand and was about the Uzbekki gangs, I think it may have been on earlier as I saw 2011 on one of the video clips. There was a lot of filming outside the Grace Hotel in Bangkok. As usual with these programmes a lot of tosh on the narration 'Red Light District' grates with me, let them tell the Landmark or Sofitel their 5 star hotels are in the RLD, everyone knows that prostitution is illegal in Thailand.
  22. I noticed that Thai do a pay upgrade on the LHR-BKK flights, maybe other countries as well. I think it was about £490+ tax from Economy to Business, one way. The tax from BKK to London will be quite a bit less than the tax on the LHR-BKK sector I think because of UK tax laws. The flight back always seems to drag so maybe the better bet, you feel pretty good on the outbound flight so an econmy seat does not matter too much, also an hour or so less flight time as well. All the best Steptoe, hope you get an upgrade.
  23. Spice, You might get a better response if you post this in the Airline discussion, but from my limited knowledge, the only scheduled flights out of Utapao are Bangkok Airways flights to Ko Samui and Phuket. It is only 90 minutes to reach BKK, there should be a decent selection of flights from there, I don't know which airlines fly that route though.
