  1. Hi - i take beside the ocean view even though at some rooms in some of teh places you actually can see the sea. 1) The Residence Garden at a rate of 1350 Baht i think if you book it over this website 2) Sunshine Vista Serviced Appartments for the price of 1320 Baht for a Superior to 3600 for a 2 Bedroom Suite - in Some rooms you can see the ocean too 3) The Pinewood Residences from 1600 Baht for a superior to 2200 for a 1 Bedroom Appartment. All of the above are more of the serviced appartment style but offer all the features of a good hotel. BUT: ther are Hotels in Pattaya that are way below your pricerange and still nice. As you could see in some threats - I would avoid places like the Siam Bayview or Siam Bayshore for the guest reason as well as the Montien - see the members section for more. A good choice is the Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8 - right in the action, the rooms in the new wing are decent for a rack rate of 1027 Baht that still can be negotiated for longer stays. Also good seems to be the Sandy Springs for around 1000 to 1200 i think. Other then that, take the time to browse through the Reviews Section of this board where you can select your pricerange as well. cheers cyber
  2. sure, the day will come saw some games of the stanley cup finals in 94? I saw one - i think it was the last season in the Pacific Coliseum as well - I think Rick Ley was a great coach, even if some think different
  3. Yeah, they have been around in Austria as well for a while now. BUT - not all ATMs in Thailand accept Mastercards pr foreign ATM (Maestro or Cirrus) for the matter. I would say, mabye 90% do, but there are always some who don't. Just look out for the Mastercard, Maestro or Cirrus Logo on the Machines, if one does not take it, in Bangkok you will not have to walk far to find one that will. Upcountry is a bit different - i went to Buri Rams Prakhon Chai District with a friend whow as visiting from Austria 3 years ago, he could not find an ATM that took his Visa or Mastercard back then. But as an emergency option you can alwats withdraw money with your Master or Visa at any Bank Branch so no worries here. cheers cyber
  4. I am a Canucks Fan, i had the chance to see one of the Stanley cup finals games in Vancouver against the NYR - unfortunalty it ended in the Riots that made the news back then (after the game though). I always liked them since Pavel Bure started to play for them - funny enough for Austrians to be Ice Hockey Fans - i think currently there is only one in the NHL and that is Reinhard Divis cheers cyber
  5. meaning what? that Siam Bayshore offers WLAN, i don't think so No kidding, do they charge the usual local call charge for dial ups there and do they allow you to stay logged on as long as you want or do they disconect like so many other hotels? cheers cyber
  6. yeah, depending on the game - but many games nowadays require at least 64 MB and 3D - while it will work with less it may cause problems that are similar to teh one you are decribing - i would not say the card is defective though since you can work with teh PC right? But a geforce is a better choice if you are gaming a lot
  7. maybe the graphics card is just not powerfull enough for that game? what does the recomendation on the package of the game say? sounds like a problem with the memory of the graphic card - if you don't have any problems when using the computer normally - cheers cyber
  8. I agree with Sunny - for you budget and needs, the Soi 7 and Soi 8 Hotels sure are the best bet. Rooms in the Sunshine Hotels New wing have nice bathtubes, the hotel has an advertised rate at 1027 Baht which can be negotiated. http://www.sunshinepattaya.com/ I find the Nova Lodge a bit out of date Just look at the review section and chose the price range you like and then browse through the reviews, for around 800 Baht you can get a number of decent nice Hotelrooms in Pattaya. cheers cyber
  9. could you play that game on your pc before? or is it a new one? and does this kinda thing happen with all games? and does the pink color thing also happen when you just work?
  10. i used dialup in the pinewood and at sunshine vista in the past (last year) - i had local access numbers so the cost was the usual cost of 3 Baht per call back then - no matter for how long. Might have changed now, i think they don't like the idea of occupying their lines for a long time for the local area call charge. I never did it since becuase there are so many net cafes available if i need access - i just use my own laptop at one so i can connect to the Company VPN. One that I have an arrangement with is the 24 hours explorer net cafe on beach road. I have no idea about their regular policy on laptops but I bring mine if I really need access but I try to avoid it when on holliday. but i am not sure if these infos help as teh prices of both, pinewood and sunshine vista are in the same range as RG. Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8 used to be good for that too but you would have to confirm that as well. They also have a reasonable priced and fast internet cafe where you can use your laptop if you ask them friendly cheers cyber
  11. you can bet on that - better go to Bangkok for some cultural experience and combine it either with a tour of northern thailand or a beach holliday in the south (would recomend samui over phuket but that's just a personal preference) no beach holliday is possible in the polluted cloak off pattaya (ok, it is not all that bad but for sure it finds itself at a low spot when it comes to best sea water quality in thailand). I agree with some of the last posts, Pattaya is probably not the right palce for a honeymoon but then, everyone has different tastes. cheers cyber
  12. agreed on that one too If you look here in this section of the board - most problems with the site or any other viewing problem was resolevd after change of browser - I know it is convinient to use IE as it is allready there, but just for security reasons alone it is worth to change to another product. But I realize that you do not always have the choice - best example here, since chico was in an Internet Cafe, too much trouble installing an other Browser...
  13. just use a real broweser insted of IE - as said before
  14. Yeah, well, the room was ok for me, but if I would stay there with my wife and daughter, to small - if the others are a bit bigger - perfect for anyone who is alone and just takes home a BG occasionally. other then that, I loved the place. a bit out of town, very clean, great barthroom (especially the shower), very friendly and helpful owner, good price for excellent service. I would recommend it to anyone becuase it has one of the best offers when it comes to value for meny IMO. cheers cyber
  15. yeah, i use either netscape or firefox at home but have to use IE at the office - did it solve your scrolling problem?
  16. i can not remember the room number, it was in febuary 2003 - it was on the 4th floor, when you came up the stairs you would stand in front of the window to my room. i found it a bit small for my liking. and back then there was no internet at all so iwas only referring to the website from which you can pretty much only get the impression that they have it in the room. but the plus of the rooms was that the in room safe was big enough for my notebook that I had back then (Compaq Armada M700). cheers cyber
  17. Change your browser Download Netscape Also Mozilla Firefox seems to be nice and fast: Firefox cheers cyber
  18. sorry, since you did not show interest the place is allready occupied - have fun in pattaya cheers cyber
  19. not by any chance mr crackpot though?
  20. no, not red roof inn - roof garden inn - it was not there when i stayed there back in febuary 2003 but i have no reason to think that they put on wrong information on their website: All Our Rooms Have the following Facilities « Pressurized Hot Water System « Digital Safe « Wall Mounted 21" Television « Refrigerator « Full Air Conditioning « 60 Channel Cable TV « King-Sized Bed « 1 meter x 1 Meter Shower Cubicle « IDD Telephone « Rooms are serviced daily « Broadband Internet « Laundry if you really contected the roof garden inn and that was their reply, thanks for the info, but then their website is incorrect on that. for sure you can get high speed in the room at mariott, i stayed there before with my wife, i dont know if it is available in all rooms though - but that one is not a cheap one http://marriott.com/property/guestRooms/PYXMC cheers cyber
  21. yeah, the directions are a bit unclear, it is up the hill past RG - a bit further up, on the right side. they provide a pick up service from the airport but i dont't know the price (maybe it is on the website) - if you contact them per email, they will get back within 1 or 2 days, very friendly, clean rooms, great showers. room i was in was a bit small. cheers cyber
  22. yes, the internet cafe at sunshine is good - also after 11 PM the ratedrops to 30 baht per hour - if you want broadband internet access in the room - try roof garden inn - manager is a very nice and friendly guy as well - http://www.roofgardeninn.com cheers cyber
  23. excuse me, what exactly is your problem, not a good first post for you to start here.
  24. here you go Thailand's third budget airline begins service BANGKOK: -- Nok Air, Thailand's newest budget airline, took to the skies for the first time Friday, a spokesman said. The inaugural flight of Nok Air, partly owned by national carrier Thai Airways International, flew from the capital, Bangkok, to the northern city of Udon Thani, company spokesman Kuntawat Sirijangkapatana said. The airline also began services to the northern city of Chiang Mai and the southern province of Hat Yai. It will offer 20 flights daily until October, when it will begin flying to the resort island of Phuket, Kuntawat said. Nok Air currently leases two Boeing 737-400 planes and cockpit crews from Thai Airways, which owns a 39 percent share of the airline, Kuntawat said. Nok _ which means "bird'' in Thai - will lease another plane later this year for its Phuket service, he said. Fares begin at 498 baht (US$12) for flights from Bangkok to Udon Thani, 598 baht (US$15) to Chiang Mai and 898 baht (US$22) to Hat Yai. Nok Air is the third no-frills carrier to set up in Thailand. Bangkok-based Orient Thai Airlines last year established 1-2-GO, and Thai Air Asia, a Thai joint venture with Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia, began flights within Thailand in February. - AP 2004-07-23 http://www.nokair.co.th/ cheers cyber
  25. after getting rid of the "black sheeps in banking and finance" in 1997 and 1998, I would consider Thai Banks save. Never heard of anyone loosing money with one of the current Banks (different story with the long gone Bangkok Bank of Commerce - a good deal of money was lost in 1996 and nobody of the responsible managers was ever brought to trial for it). cheers cyber
