  1. Inspiring photos.
  2. Flight Center are useless. We have them here in Canada and have always found cheaper fares and better schedules with little effort.
  3. You can still pick your nose wearing a rubber glove.
  4. Who the hell is worried about a 20kg baggage limit to Krabi? Flip flops, 2 T-shirts and a bathing suit is all you need.
  5. The Chinese Concessions were part of the Brit Empire. Ever heard of Swire or Jardine Matheson? UK outfits that controlled huge parts of China's economy. Based in HK but did big biz all over China, not all of it benign. They still exist today. As for WWII, there was an Asian war, too. For those who didn't know, you can look it up. BTW, the Russians were the ones who did Hitle in more than anyone else. They inflicted 75% of the German casualties and Hitler had 75-80% of his troops in the eastern European theatre. From the end of 1941 Germany had from 5 to 7 times more divisions in the east as it did in the west.
  6. Klown. You might want to ask Africans and Indians and Chinese if it was the best thing that ever happened to the world."
  7. Kinda like "guy" - the snake guy, the kitchen guy
  8. I love soi buakhao, always changing always something going on. I remember them building the LK Royal Suites near Pattaya Klang. Bamboo scaffolding all the way to the top, women mixing cement and a pulley system hauling buckets up (no pumper trucks!).
  9. First time I went there was 2003. The girl I was with had to go to a dress shop to pick up her loy krathong dress. I had never heard of buakhao and it was a 99% Thai street full of mom and pop shops. I don't recall seeing falang guesthouses or beer bars in the middle section around soi honey/diana. I don't think soi LK Metro existed either. Buakhao was busy but not like nowadays.
  10. He'll have to climb out of the pram to do that.
  11. Seems more like the Brit landlord was the one who had the bad experience. He made the mistake of renting to someone who wants to cheat on the electric bill and wants to fuck off on his contract as well. Look in the mirror, peckerhead.
  12. Fiscal conservatives?
  13. 30 baht tip for a 70 baht haircut!!!!!!!! LDOP spoiling it for the rest of us.
  14. You used the electricity so pay for it. You are breaking a contract for your own reasons. You owe the money according to the terms of the contract. Landlord's nationality has nothing to do with it. Neither does his hairstyle or his choice to be tattooed or not.
  15. If you're worried bring a tube of toothpaste with you. If beer supplies are low, tough shit they are low all around for everyone. They might have better beer supply at home but beer supply isn't why people come to Pats, is it?
  16. I suspect Joe is right. Wholesale prices will return to normal levels but the bars will keep the extra 10 baht or so per drink. Hordes of new punters won't know.
  17. The price told me all I needed to know!
  18. Interesting, I never knew that. Note to self: Never assume etc.
  19. Real gold is worth more. Coins are for numismatists. That said, why bring them to Thailand? Who wil buy them when real gold is available every 100m? I doubt Thais will buy them, they perceive gold as gold and coins as money.
  20. The roads are fine today. If we could predict the future we'd all be rich.
  21. Lots of people come to Pattaya with no knowledge of the P4P scene. The brochures at the travel agent certainly don't mention the delights of WS or soi 6. They simply promote the "beach" and the numerous attractions like Alcazar, Nong Nooch etc.
  22. I've done the HH>>Pats minibus run but will not do it again. I was almost 6 hours in the van except for a pee break or two. I prefer my usual method of minibus HH>>Victory Monument then stretch my legs and a quick bite in the mall at VM. Vans from VM every 20 mins or so, no worries about schedules. A good 30-40 min. stopover helps the second half go better. My trips to Pats have never suffered from taking 40 mins. longer from HH.
  23. Secretariat won by 30 lengths going away. Guided by Canadian Ron Turcotte of Grand Falls, NB.
  24. Was there ever a team more like its owner than the Raiders? Nasty and tough. He challenged the NFL establishment and won the right to take his team to L.A. But he was past his best-before date for some years now. His epitaph: "Just win, baby."
