There's a couple of decent places at that end of Jomtien. Suttangrak is another and its set menus are a big help for those who may not be too familiar with some Thai food.

You need to practice your Hannibal Lecter impressions to fall back on during those circumstances. It gets their attention and transcends any linguistic misunderstandings - even if 7-11 doesn't sell a nice chianti. Don't forget to smile though! Peter O'Toole would work equally as well methinks .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryVhaJnhLFE

I hope you are right about SQ.

The post office EMS is OK. Lots of options but time critical comes at a price. http://www.thailandpost.com/rate.php

Save a few dollars by taking Air New Zealand to Auckland and AirAsia X/AirAsia from Auckland to BKK.

Thanks. Some classic stuff ... Thai Girl: I have to set up many Facebook pages because the last guy, I block him from seeing my relationship status but then he go to all my friend’s pages and see that my other boyfriend say he in a relationship with me. Why farang man always checking everything? Farang: Well, he was right. You are seeing someone else. Thai Girl: Yes, but why he not trust me? Farang: Are you serious?

Now Pattaya is out of Tonic Water
CheshireTom replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Haad Thip (Coca Cola) - the Schweppes stuff is, or rather isn't, produced at their (flood affected ) plant in Pathum Thani rather than the main plants in Had Yai and Haad Thip. I think Chang has/had a similar situation getting its soda waters back on the shelves. -
From UK, it's because the airlines pay commission on the flight price, but not on taxes, fees and surcharges. Better to pay commission on 100 quid, than 300 quid.

Ask your local plod where the police/security/military shop is. They're a bit like the old Army Surplus stores/Silvermans in UK, except for the amount of weaponry they also sell. Lots of rubbish, but also lots of good stuff with prices to match.

I'll go for a draw. Only joking - Patriots it is, but how does the book work in the US? Are you betting on the outright winner, or at the end of regulation time. I only ask because in UK, you can do either/or on the FA Cup, CL knockout stages etc. If it hasn't been mentioned, the coverage starts at 6:30 a.m. Thai Clock on Astro Supersport 2 and Astro SuperSport HD2.

I can't wait! Got my flight booked already to see it.
-
OK. Got a link to the flyertalk thread/article and I'll take it from there?
-
OK ... done that ... Am I doing something wrong? I'm logged into the US site and all that ... Have you got a link to the offers page and is it both Oz and NZ, or only NZ? i found one offer but it was only for USD100 off for outbound travel prior to 15 May.
-
I assumed that, but where about? I can find offers for June onwards ... and when I try to book for 3 weeks in May ... A link would be useful ....
-
Seems like a really good price. Got a link?
-
That's the point. There's another thread running concurrently with this one listing loads of flights available for sub-500 quid. One specific fare on one specific carrier doesn't equate to "average".
-
Thanks - that's good info.
-
Got it - thanks. Something to keep in mind when booking back to UK.

I can't see how they could do it in a 3-3-3 configuration. By my calculations, the best they can do with 3-3-3 is 24J and 329Y.

I've done a bit of Boeing (the company) bashing over the years, but I've always maintained that the best experience in economy was on SQ's 777 from Manchester. That said, I don't think that I'd describe any long-haul economy product as being "very spacious".
-
I can't see what the big issue is. The average cost (to the passenger) of a flight UK/BKK/UK is much the same now as it was 10 years ago. Which columns the airline chooses to put the different elements that make up the fare isn't really important - that's more to do with them reducing the amount of the fare that they pay commission to travel agents on. The passenger tax is not much different to 20% VAT being stuck on the price of an economy ticket and it's not as if the airlines are suddenly going to turn round and reduce the price of a ticket if there was less tax. They'll continue to charge what the market will bear.

They are typically, less than 600 quid from Manchester. If speed of delivery to/from LOS is your priority from MAN, they can't be beaten. They also provide a decent alternative to travelling to LHR, if you opt for the Thai codeshare. They change their offers frequently, so it's worth visiting their website on a weekly basis, or so.
