Extra 'fee' for credit card??
Crackpot replied to mnldfw's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I think you will find this is only so in the USA In the UK and Europe merchants are allowed to add on CC Charges, and frequently do so. In the US on Ebay people arent allowed to ad on Paypal charges but in the UK this is a common thing to do. Its been a common and standard practice in Thailand when staying at some Hotels for them to add on CC Charges and is not illegal or unlawfull. Its also worth noting that some bucket shops in the UK selling very cheap flights will ask you to pay the CC charges. If they are only making £10-£15 per ticket then paying 4-5% CC charges is too much for them to handle -

DONT fly Turkish Airlines. They have a nasty habit of rescheduling, up to and including the day or even hour of departure. Probaby due to the few aircraft they have available on that route. Similar problems with Philippine Airlines many years ago. They only had 2 VERY old 747's on the Manilla-London route and if one broke down (as they did on a regular basis) you just had to hope they put you on the next flight. Only in VERY rare cases would they put you on another Manilla bound flight I'd rather walk than fly Turkish

Go along Orchard Road theres a load of Centers etc there though he will get lost of hassle from touts I nearly decked one Indian bloke who followed me around one shopping center and eventually asked a security guard to stop him. Als beware of your countries Duty free allowance. It could cost more than he thinks if he gets caught

The problem is ......consistency. I've travelled on most of the Airlines running from the UK to Bangkok and there is little consistency. One day you will get a super flight on an aircraft, great service from the staff good food etc etc. Then things can go wrong. some of the waitresses (cos thats all they are) have PMT, the food is a little off and the flight is crap. For consistency of service I would always say Gulf Air is one of the best

Travel insurance-does anyone bother?
Crackpot replied to DayShift's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
What a bloody stupid ridiculous purile, dangerous post. Does a car hiiting you ask if you have money or insurance? Does a food bug ask to see if you have money before making you near deathly sick What crass stupidity. Whilst in Scotalnd last year I read in the local paper of a young chap who went to France on a canoeing Holiday. After a day canoeing in the Ardeche he dived into the River for a swim. His head hit a submerged rock. He was in Hospital in France, near death for 3 months. He had no Insurance. His family had to re-mortgage their home to pay his Hospital bills. yes thay could reclaim a lot of it back but they had to pay it first. Going outside ones own Country without Insurance is the silliest thing anyone can do. -
August fares are, in general higher than some other times. However there are sometimes some good deals to be had if you want to rick a late booking

I have a TSB Gold account which gives me world wide travel and Holiday Insurance. I also pay the extra 20 quid to have my daughter put on it. You would be very silly to go to anywhere without Insurance these days -

Ramster I bought a Nokia with a Sim card for 1300 Baht. It wont work in the US though so you might be better asking for the triple band model. Youll need the 4th floor In MBK -

Unless we stand up for our rights and Human rights against tyrannies like the US and UK Governments there wont be a future for anyone.
-
And we'll all wait with baited breath for your on topic contributions

And you dont think a Regime that totally ignores International Human rights, and International Courts of Human rights ARENT 'Bad Guys' ??

And what do I hear on the Radio this morning ? "The US says it may keep those detainees in Guantanamo even if the tribunal finds them not guilty" What you gonna do when they come for YOU ? What you gonna do when you find YOUR telephone bugged What you gonna do when you find your email scanned What you gonna do when you have to ask permission to leave your house for a day out. What you gonna do when they take your passport away Its gonna happen, it already is.

"I just happenned to mention that I would like the Brit's held by the US in Cuba to be kept there, heres why. " Of course you would dear ! Out of sight out of mind eh? It doesnt bother you that they just might be totally innocent and 2 years of their lives have been taken away by an ignorant frightened US administration who is hitting out at everyone other than their intended target ?. It isnt a question of whether they are guilty or innocent, it IS question of the US breaking every known International law in imprisoning them. It IS a fact of the US demanding everyone accepts THEIR standards, and disrepecting the International Community Standards, and the Internation Courts of Human Rights and war crimes. The UK Governments tacit acceptance of that is disgusting but expected . They will stay quiet and then start to use detention of civilians without trial because it has been 'Internationally accepted'. Wake up. Governments dont want people protesting, they dont want people disagreeing with them because they might get tossed off thier gravy train, and they will use all means possible to acheive their ends, this 'New' Labour mob especially. "However if they are released, because they have commited no crime and weeks later they blow themselves and a dozen innocents to peices, how will the liberals among you feel ? Look around the world- Israel, Turkey, Iraq. " What they do after they are released is actually irrelevant, and you cant detain someone for what you think they might do. Hindsight is a wonderfull thing. Then again if someone locked YOU up and you lost 2 years of your life because of some ignorant, ill advised President, wouldnt you be a little pissed off ? I bloody well would. What matters here is International Law, which is being cast aside by the bully boys of the US. They do not accept International Law or Internationally agreed terms of Human rights, hence, they shouldnt expect the world community to treat them any different.
