  1. You are looking at peak travel time and the $854 deal was a great deal. That being said you should try Travelocity and do a search with flexible dates. Use all of the combos you described MSP_BKK, ORD_BKK and LAX_BKK. You could also add San Fransisco. I did a quick check for the MSP and ORD routes and they do not look cheap. Another thing to try is a travel agency and give them some dates that will work for you. I am thinking though with peak travel starting up and airlines expecting a very busy season you may not have many choices and it will cost you. If you are looking for cheaper fl
  2. NWA has just opened up a new promotion for flights to Asia. Travel must be purchased by 17 May 2005 and outbound must begin before 30 June 2005. Travel must be completed by 30 July 2005. You must use e certificate promo code PI090. Then you also need to enter your worldperks number. I found a fare leaving from Minneapolis to Bkk on 3 June returning on 17 June for $880.00. That is about $500 cheaper than most of the fares I have seen. Not sure of other cities but I did see one from LAX to BKK but they wanted $950.00. Not sure why it is more than the other flight but it is worth checking
  3. Sara: If Vikki does not decide to take you I am more than willing to sponsor you for whatever price you ask. I have heard many great things about you. Many say you are very very small but I like the small ones. They say great things come in small packages and yours is reported to be great.
  4. Have not stayed at either one but the Roof Garden in is a little ways out with no partying close by. Sabai Inn is off of 2nd Rd and just a short walk to Beach Rd. If you want to slip out for a quickie without the wife knowing than I would think Sabai Inn would be the better choice. If you do not have plans for any of that then I think read the reviews on the two and go from there. They are supposedly both nice.
  5. Only safety concerns are the same in any city in the world. If you are drunk on your butt you are a target to get mugged. The Thai's believe in saving face so you should not get in an argument with them. Smiles go a long way there. And do not fight with a Thai. Even if he is smaller and you can kick his butt you will probably have every other Thai in the area to fight, this is whether you are in the right or not.
  6. I would have to say the report really does nothing for me. As a person who only gets to visit once or twice a year I am not interested in the squables among the bar owners. The only ones who I think would have an interest are other bar owners and expats living in Pattaya. So I read it, shrug and move on.
  7. I have made trips during the July time frame (very very hot). Early December (not to hot, humdity lower, not overly crowded). Second week of Jan ( nice weather, to many people for me).. This next trip is planned for early Sep, not sure on weather but it really does not matter. ITS PATTAYA
  8. Have always flown NWA out of Twin Cities. Prices have jumped though and everything I was looking at was over $1300 through September. Than I had the brilliant idea of using my NWA miles and got a flight leaving Sept 4 for 60,000 frequent flyer miles. Free trip
  9. I had a suite for 1900 baht. Room 701 I think. Anyway when you walk in straight ahead is a small hall with closet and the bathroom (which is normal sized). To your left is a very large bedroom with tv. Balcony looks out over soi 13. To your right as you walk in is the living room area. Has a couch and tv. Also another small balcony that looks between buildings. It is nice, I would guess it is just two rooms made into a suite. I like the idea of being able to wake up and watch tv while tg is sleeping. Residence Garden is better as you have two seperate rooms with a door you can close
  10. Looking at your avatar I would suggest maybe boystown would have a buffet for you.
  11. I guess it is a hit and a miss as to whether they do. I brought one girl in and they asked for her ID card at the desk. At another time I just walked in with a girl and had my key with me so went straight to the elevators and they did not ask for ID's.
  12. I am guessing the flights in Nov should go down. That is still a LONG 8 months from now and they should have some fall specials. School will be out and it is now a high travel period. Only thing that could change everything is the price of oil.
  13. Omni is approx 3-4 American blocks walking. Maybe a quarter mile to Sukumvit and NEP. Not a bad walk. A few good bars along the way. You will like the hotel. I think they are really like serviced appartments. Let us know what you think of the place.
  14. Sandy Springs hotel has suites for 1950 baht per night. Two huge rooms, two televisions. Girl friendly. Staff very nice. Located on Soi 13 which is in the center of everything. Swimming pool decent. For music can't beat the Blues Factory. Great rock music from Lam Morrison and the house band is pretty good also. There is also a small bar just as you enter Walking street on the right side that has some laid back music with a band. Do not know the name though.
  15. The Majestic is nice but no pool. Down Soi 4 a little ways is The Omni. Very nice, large rooms, nice pool. Under 2000.
  16. Did not know Om. Have only seen Pete and Ben in the bar when I have visited. Never was the kind of guy that would go up and introduce myself. But I do know that life is precious and a young one was lost. I have sent a small donation to help Om's family. May she rest in Peace.
  17. I have travelled through Narita at least ten times in the past two years. I personally detest the place. When you get off the plane and have only a two hour layover you will just follow the signs for connecting flights. You will have to go through a security check again where you will need your passport and boarding pass. Your carrry on bags will be screened again. If it is the busy time there you will stand in long lines waiting to get through the checkpoints. The teminal that I usually end up in has plenty of shops for food to eat. There is also a place where you can pay a certain amou
  18. They belong to an alliance with some other airlines. I am having trouble using them also. They want 50000 for a flight to LA when it should be 25000. rb is right, you should be able to get at least one way to BKK for 100000. Then pay the other half for return flight. Save a little.
  19. I had a suite at Sandy Springs last time I was there. It meets most of your criteria. Only thing it doesn't have is in room safe. The Suite is huge with two tvs, very clean. Not sure about internet connection. Price was 1950 baht per night.
  20. I think a lot of the hotels have people making reservations and than not showing up. With your credit card info they can charge you 3000 baht if you do not show.
  21. Did you make a mistake on the staff at the Thai Garden. You said the same thing about the Lek staff. I have tried the breakfast at the Lek. For 90 baht it is very cheap but the food in my opinion is not very good. But then for 90 baht I would guess it is a good deal.
  22. Try Soi13. I have stayed at the Sandy Springs and it is very nice. There is also the Dynasy Inn on that street along with the Lek. People have said there was constructin noise but I did not notice any.
  23. I went straight to Pattaya this last trip. I used PJ Scuba's taxi service. Cost was 1600 baht which is somewhat expensive but they have nice new, clean autos and they were there waiting for me when I arrived at midnight.
  24. Northwest just announced a miles for cash deal. Not sure if LOS is included but worth a try to check out their website www.nwa.com. I think for sure you could use it for part of the trip say MSP to Narita.
  25. Thanks for the info Leo. Twenty six more days and I am there. I asked for the discount and they gave it to me for 1950 baht. Now I just hope when I arrive very late at night on the 15th they will have kept my room for me. I will make sure I email them just before I leave to give them a reminder.
